I tend to enjoy hanging onto deleted bits (at least ones that I cut entirely rather than altering again and again) because its fun for me to see how the story got changed. So, a deleted dialogue chunk: --- Leo grins coyly.  “Maybe we’re hanging around because we like you.”

Draxum stares at him for a long moment.  “I’d hate to see how you treat people you dislike,” he says at last. --- I don't remember where I cut this from to be honest (I think it was around 13/14), but it was probably removed because it wasn't working with the flow of dialogue around it. That's just how it goes sometimes lol.

30. share a fic you’re especially proud of

I tend to like all my fics (wouldn't publish them otherwise lol) but I think Dead of Night is one I like a lot. It was the first oneshot I'd done in a couple years, and it was kinda fun writing a story that was just one and done. Also I like making Draxum suffer lmao

A Mike counts as a Mike if their name holds the pronunciation Mike somewhere in it. (Ex. Micah would count, Mickey would not)

Your kid is killing and eating animals!!" Beatrice, a small turtle humanoid, is very small in comparison to him, and stares forward blankly. Their fists are balled and their long tail curves out from behind them. There is blood around her mouth, dripping down her neck, and splattered on her plastron. In the second image, Casey Jr, Draxum, and Donnie are standing together. Casey is wearing a robe similar to Draxum's, and says quizzically, "That's not weird, I do that." Draxum is drawn with curly hair and crosses his arms. He says "Personally I normally cook them first, but I don't really see the issue here." Next to him, Donnie covers his mouth, partially hiding a smile, and looks at Draxum in amusement. He snorts quietly. End I.D.]

Between Draxum canonically catching pigeons to serve at his cafeteria and Casey Jr eating rats in the apocalypse, neither of them see an issue with this.

(Given that Casey is one of the family members most suspicious of Beatrice and constantly on the lookout for 'Krang behavior' from them, that is not the reaction Raph was expecting.)

Okay there's honestly a lot of stuff that I've researched for various fics over time, but I think near the top would be floriography (did this research for Minor Interference, because Draxum gives the turtles flower-themed nicknames and I wanted them to have a decent amount of meaning) and upper limb amputations (for I'm Not Dead Yet, when I was trying to decide if I wanted to give Raph a prosthetic for that au or not).

Rabindranath Tagore

One of the things I love the most about making content online is... I've grown so much as a human being.

My art has gotten better too, of course.

But every day I'm introduced to so many cultures and customs and people from all different walks of life and it has honestly made me a better person because of that.

Just today, I was introduced to Rabindranath Tagore. And I think the thing that made me immediately want to learn more about him was that he was referred to as "The Bard of Bengal."

He was a Polymath (which, I think means he was really smart in a lot of different subjects) from Bengal who became the first non-European and the first lyricist to win the Nobel Prize in Literature

He was a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter.

He was a humanist, universalist, internationalist, and ardent critic of nationalism, he denounced the British Rule over India and advocated independence from Britain.

He hung out with Einstein and Gandhi and seemed like a generally cool guy.

Both India and Bangladesh use his works as their national anthems.

And while I'm getting most of my information from Wikipedia... my subscribers from India and Bengal assured me that Rabindranath Tagore is absolutely beloved and truly someone more people should know about.

So halfway through coloring this, I realized that Sokka and Katara are only a year apart, so toddler Sokka wouldn't hold newborn Katara in canon, so uhhhhh I call this piece "my spectacular au where Sokka is a little older because I'm a fake fan and cant remember the gaangs ages" lmao.

Also one of the most common aspects/tropes of the Peepaw genre of Rise fanfics is the angst that comes from outliving all your family members, but this version of Raph doesn't have that (at least at first), because he was the first to die. As far as he knows, his family is alive and well, and he just has to get back to them somehow. As far as he knows, they're trying to bring him back.

But here's the thing: he's well and truly stuck in the past. And they aren't trying to bring him back, because as far as they're concerned, he's dead. While Raph is waiting for some kind of sign from his family, they're mourning him. But he doesn't know that, so he waits for years.

Every so often I think about my I'm Not Dead Yet AU and like

It's generally agreed upon by the fandom that Raph is one of the first to die, right? ...What if his death is the turning point in the war? What if his death is the thing that makes his surviving family realize that, no matter if they succeed or not, that the world they grew up in is really gone? That they're fighting to restore a world that cannot be brought back?

But none of that matters to Raph, because he doesn't know that. He doesn't see how his family reacts to his death, because he doesn't truly die, he gets sent back in time. He might not realize it at first, but he's stuck in the past with no way of getting back to his family. Sure, he now has the power to find the Key and prevent the Krang from ever escaping the prison dimension, but if he does, the future versions of his family, the brothers he grew up alongside and lived through the end of the world with, will never exist.

Unrelated, now nobody knows he's a mutant except him. There are no other mutants, really. Everyone around him (at least in the Hidden City) assumes he's just another yokai. Maybe one with a tragic story, given all his scars, but plenty of yokai have those. A part of his identity is gone now, the part that he shared with his brothers. The part that made him one of them.

Tbh this is part of the reason he effectively changes his name to Ragnarok (or at least one of the factors) because what fun is having a character question his entire identity if he doesn't get a fun name change out of it lol
