Courage? Sure, let’s call it that.

Impulse is the word she’d use. Crazy, even. Because who else would flirt up a merc (who is also, by the way, the son of the most despicable man to ever live) other than an impulsive, crazy person… with a stupid amount of courage?

Right now none of that matters, though. She’s not thinking about how big of a mistake this probably is. Not thinking about how much she’ll likely regret it the next day. Not thinking about the fact there’s about a hundred people who could walk into the office right now and see them. She’s not thinking at all. Because thinking about this means remembering that she hasn’t kissed or touched anyone since Ryan. Thinking about this means remembering that that Ryan is dead. Never coming back. So no thinking is allowed right now.

Moira snorts when Jake takes her by the jacket and pulls her close. Hazel eyes glued to blue ones while she nudges his nose with her own. Waiting, because for once, she wants him to make the first move. She’s laid all the groundwork already. All he has to do is seal the deal—which he does. He seals their lips together.

Her eyes close in an instant. Fingers latch onto the end of his shirt. Her lips push against his, parting slightly, head tilting to the side. The kiss by itself, despite the lack of intensity, is enough to spark up her desire for more. More that she thinks is about to come when Jake’s tongue brushes against her mouth, only to draw away shortly after.

What does Jake think she is? A withering flower on the verge of losing its last petal with the weakest blow of wind? Hell no. She’s touch-starved, yes. Desperate, maybe. But not fragile. Screw taking it slow. Moira tugs at his lower lip with her teeth, giving him a small taste of her eagerness, before her hands release his shirt and travel up his torso to grab him by the collar. She pulls him, guiding him along while she backs them toward the desk behind her, onto which she hops to sit. Files and clutter fall off the edge in the process and scatter on the floor. Oops.

“Come on now, Jake,” she pulls back briefly to whisper in a hot breath, caging him between spread legs, “Kiss me harder. Show me what you really got. This is pathetic.”

There would be no turning back if he were to actually show her something , their lives would change and if it was for better or for worse , he did not know . He could get in some serious trouble , he already sort of was , wandering where he was not supposed to wander . So , why not take it a few steps further ? She wanted him to snap , and then what ? Are they were to fight it out then ? Would people start making bets ? He had a few ideas , about showing her just what the crazy genes can do to a guy .

❝ You really want to go there ? I gotta say , you got a stupid amount of courage . ❞ And Jake was just stupid .

So , he grabs her by the jacket and lowers his head down to hers . Nose touching , vision going cross until they both look funny to each other . He was building his own courage , those lips of hers he would love to do nothing more with than to shut up with his own . Breathing his breath on her .

He would not hold it against her if she slapped him afterward , but , he knew that she knew they both knew where this was going to go .

Crashing his lips into hers , he had kissed a few girls in his home country , always crazy about him . This was by no means his first kiss , but it was with her . He was not overly filthy with it , a curious tongue he drew away after a second .

Hi hi! Georgie and I have been brainstorming stuff for a little bit, so this is just a teeny little update to Moira's bio/canon on this blog in affiliation with @betterasamerc! You can read the whole thing on the carrd here but to highlight what's been added:

Pursuing Eveline (2014)

At some point following these events, Moira becomes involved with Jake Muller (@betterasamerc). Despite their rivalry and the two of them rarely getting along, they develop an attraction toward each other and gradually start a not-relationship.

Fresh Start (2015)

In early 2015, and as the two become aware of their growing feelings, 24-year-old Moira and 23-year-old Jake take the "not" out of their not-relationship and start officially dating. Not long after that, Moira asks him to move in with her, and the two of them share her apartment in the States. Later on in October, they find out they are pregnant. Two months after, in December, Jake proposes to Moira. In August 2016, 25-year-old Moira and 24-year-old Jake welcome their daughter, Maeve, to the world. Moira takes maternity leave from work to focus on being a mother and taking care of her daughter. The couple decide to buy a house in Canada close to Moira's family, so that they can get some help with the baby whenever the two of them are busy with work. In June 2017, 26-year-old Moira and 25-year-old Jake get married, with their ten-month-old daughter in their arms. Moira takes Jake's last name.

The Village Incident (2021)

Following the mission, the Mullers adopt a stray cat that has wandered into their home. Jake names her Purrl.
