As I hear the business person beside me in the airport talking to her personnel, I instinctively reflect on how my aunt talks to her people. They're both business owners, both women, both Chinese, educated, well off, and smart. But there's just something different. It's the tone of a leader, not of a dictator. My aunt was always genuinely grateful to her employees, while the lady beside me was stressed out already (even blamed her employee before her supplier. That reflects on what type of boss you are).
My aunt was operating in the position of a leader. So for future leaders and entrepreneurs, and I am also talking to myself, please always be grateful to your people. They have emotions like us, and good employees work well when they are led properly. We want to attract and hold on to good ones, lift up those who are struggling, and be discerning of who we let in. If they're less than what we're looking for, do not accept.
Be discerning who we accept, and be grateful to those whom we have chosen.
I could clearly remember the first time I used real tamarind to make this dish and boy was it tiresome. My only memory was that I was sweating a lot with just smashing the boiled tamarinds, and never again did I attempt to use real tamarinds. Instead, I made the easy way out of using instant sinigang mixes.
However, since we're going all natural, I had to use real tamarinds again, and it wasn't that hard after all 😯 probably I was too young back then and was very new to cooking.
Real tamarinds taste as good as those mixes, less the extra chemicals added. The dish turned out to be very delicious, and I will not hesitate to go natural again.
As someone whose family member is on a colostomy bag, I can't emphasize enough on the importance of monitoring the bowel. If we see that it's watery, I can't help but be bothered if we're not feeding enough nutritious foods. One food that keeps the bowel in good shape is by adding caimito in the diet.
Star apple or Caimito is high in fiber, vitamin B, and pectin. It's good for digestion, rich in antioxidants, and antimicrobial. Plus, it's sweet and tasty! 😄
Tonight's meal: Chicken arrozcaldo with lots of ginger, a bulb of garlic, carrots, and we mixed red with white rice. A pinch of salt and pepper to taste. 😋
Ginger, as some studies had it, has an anti-cancer effect.
Carrots, being rich in betacarotene, reduces the risk of cancer.
Garlic is a natural antibiotic and anticancer that's why I no longer scrimp on adding it in our dishes.
The start of 2024 was life-changing. It started with my simple flu on January 1, and after 2 weeks, it turned to someone in the family being diagnosed with the Big C. It was a tough start, and my first instinct was, "What food can and can't we eat?" I had to turn to people I knew who went through the same battle. What about those who do not have anyone to ask from?
As the family embarks on this new journey, I am sharing health, tips, recipes, and nutrition that might help those who are struggling with the same situation.
I still pray that this could be of help. I am an accountant by profession, so still seek for proper medical advice from your doctors 😉

I am respecting your decision to cut off the connection. I understand that it's to probably keep your friendship. I respect that and I have high regards for that decision. Very noble.
I am accepting the fact that we're not for each other.
