today’s dose- trait of a Christian- 1 week 1 | day 6 | 21 July
Romans 2 : 1-4
These verses say that as a christian, we must not judge anyone. A man judging another man while doing the same thing mocks the kindness of GOD. The very kindness, that has lead to our repentance.
From today, let's just not judge anyone. Listen to both sides, if you must. If you pass judgement on someone and yet do the same things, you will not escape God's judgement.
A good christian does not judge. He is thankful for God's tolerance and kindness.

1 Kings 18: 42-48
The Israelites in the time of Ahab did not have any rain for a few years. In the verses, we see how Elijah tells his servant to "go and look toward the sea" seven times. This event happens after the LORD displayed his majestic power to the whole of Israel.
Verse 41 and 42 says "And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees."
Elijah bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. I understood that as a sign of worship. He did this on top of Mount Carmel, where the altar of GOD stood.
He told his servant to look toward the sea seven times. I believe if it was anyone else, they'd just stop at the fourth or fifth time. Elijah told his servant the same thing seven times.
The seventh time, the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
That was all they needed.
If you have something on your list of things that continually worries you, pray. Pour your soul out to the LORD. Pray again. And again. Pray again and again without losing faith. Pray until you see the power of GOD working. It doesn't even have to be you. Elijah didn't see the cloud first, his servant did. People around us will see the change our prayer does, even if we don't. The same power of GOD that came upon Elijah in the last verse, and he ran all the way to Jezreel.
Praise GOD.

1 Kings 18 : 22-40
The people of Israel all turned to Baal. Ahab, the then king of Israel, had sent out many men looking for Elijah, but then they never found him. If GOD hides someone or something, no one will ever find it/them.
The LORD told him to present himself to Ahab, and Elijah did that. He told Ahab to summon the people all over Israel to meet him at Mount Carmel. And the king was to also bring the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah, who ate at Jezebel's table.
On Mount Carmel, Elijah openly challenged the prophets of Baal in front of Israel. Two bulls on the wood, no fire. The god who answers by fire- he is GOD.
The prophets of Baal sang, slashed themselves for hours. Nothing happened.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.  31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”  32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs[a] of seed.  33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.”
By then it was time of the evening sacrifice. While the people were watching, Elijah repaired the altar of the LORD then and there.
36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. 37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
GOD will never disappoint. Elijah prayed, GOD answered, and the whole of Israel saw the power of the living GOD.
[Elijah also slaughtered the prophets of Baal, but this time, whole of Israel was with him.]
That's today's dose. Even if you're alone, even if you're the only one, and nobody's on your side- GOD is with you. Pray. That's all you need to do. And you'll see the power of GOD too.

1 Samuel 1: 9-20
Hannah went to the LORD's temple in verse 9. Verse 10 then says "In bitterness of soul Hannah wept much and prayed to the LORD."
Then she made a vow, and Eli thought she was drunk, and told her to get rid of her wine. And she said in verse 15 and 16, "Not so, my lord," Hannah replied, "I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring my soul out to the LORD."
In verse 16, she says "Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”
Hannah went to the temple of the LORD with so much distress in her heart. She weeped and poured her soul out to the LORD for a son.
In verse 17, "Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.""
When you're in great anguish like Hannah, when you're stressing out about something, whatever causes your heart to be restless- pray to the LORD. Pour your soul out- all the distress, everything that's been weighing on you- tell the LORD everything. He will take care of it. He will remember you.
Draw strength from prayer, and keep your faith strong.
Praise GOD.

Genesis 1 : 2
Verse 2 says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."
The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was over the surface of the deep. Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And it just came to me- aren't we like that? There have been so many days I felt empty and numb inside. No one around I could tell my sorrows to, the whole world was against me, and nothing helped. [Now I think they're tests. Tests of faith.]
Darkness was over the surface of the deep. I was sad, empty and so, so lost. There are some days I still am. On such days, darkness is just over the surface. It's at the door.
When Cain saw his offering was not favored, he became very angry and downcast.
Cain was angry and lost.
HOWEVER, the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
In Genesis 4: 6, 7, "The Lord said to Cain "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?  If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Darkness was crouching at Cain's door. The Lord had warned him about it. Now, it was up to Cain to either give in to the darkness or to rule over it.
We do know what happened after Cain gave into the darkness. Murder, grief, cursed.
Likewise, the Spirit of God is always there, warning us, guiding us. On such days more than ever, when we're lost, darkness is waiting at the door to rule over us. It knows that we're lost. It's the perfect time to strike. But the Spirit of God is hovering over the waters. On such dark days, read the Old Testament. The God who brought an entire people out of slavery. The God who made the sun and moon stand still. The God who was with Joseph and Moses and David. If he did those miracles for his servants then, then we, as his servants- what do we have to worry about?
We must draw our strength from the Word of God and hold our faith. God is watching over us. He will not leave us. On those dark days, when you think you're lost, remember, you really aren't. God is watching over you. He knows where you are. All you need to do is breathe and trust in the Lord.
Praise GOD.

Genesis 1 : 1
We all know Genesis 1 speaks of the creation of the world. He created the heavens first, then the earth. Verse 2 says, "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Our problems seem like a huge deal to us. If something goes wrong, it might be the end of our world. But if we just hand it over to God and have faith (by faith, I mean whole-hearted faith, not just half-assed, 'yeah, sure, okay I believe' sort faith)- just leave the entire issue to His Hands... God created the heavens. He created the earth. He said, let there be light and there was light. If God created all that we see around us just by His word, and we're praying to that God... imagine the wonders. Imagine the miracles. He created life with His WORD. How much do you think is our problems before that? I pray and ask for success in my exams to the creator of the world.
This is where faith comes in. Jesus said "if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' it will happen." in Matthew 21: 21.
Have strong, resolute faith. Do not doubt the LORD.
Just give your worries to him. Jesus paid the price for our sins, so now we are His responsibility. Just give him everything that's weighing on your heart. He's our Lord, if we do good, we honor him. If we do bad, we dishonor him who bought us with His own blood. We're a part of Christ, there's no such thing as 'your problem, my problem', it's our problem.
Just tell it to GOD, he'll take care of it. Don't doubt, just believe.

Bigger than all my problems Bigger than all my fears GOD is bigger than any mountain that I can or cannot see.
Praise be to GOD.
