i have a problem with a lot of current movies and shows that try to pull of a strong visual/auditory style bc so many don’t understand that you need more than an aesthetic to actually achieve a specific type of film. knowing how to compose a shot the way a golden age film did without research and work past aesthetic visual signifiers is just a movie where you did something unoriginal rather than being an homage or whatever
