part of the reason why the whole "men/boys are taught not to cry!!!! its so sad for them!!!!" thing bothers me is because so many women i know went through childhood and young adult life staring into the middle distance in order to be taken seriously as people. its devastating to learn as a child that crying is associated with "femininity" weakness and hysteria and to witness all around you how these farcical patriarchal claims are used to dismiss women's distress. different human emotions being assigned specific genders and "feminine emotions" specifically being belittled and degraded can actually make women recoil from them in order to be treated like a person, isn't that funny

I really love Namine because she's such a great balance of "I want to do good but I'm constantly being forced to do bad" but also "I am willingly doing fucked up things for my own self-interest."

Namine is being forced to mess with Sora's memories by the Organization who is threatening her with harm and imprisonment, but part of her wants to do it because she thinks it's the only way she can cure her loneliness and find love.

When she gives Sora the option to either retain his Castle Oblivion memories or give them up, and he naturally chooses to give them up in order to regain his old memories, despite her smile her dialog/body language/line delivery give off the impression that she's genuinely bitter and hurt that he didn't choose her, despite how unlikely that scenario was.

DiZ puts Namine under a lot of pressure to complete Sora's memory restoration even at the cost of people like Xion and Roxas, but Namine basically admits herself that if given the choice, she'd rather do these terrible things to them than to Sora, even if she sympathizes with them and tries to give them some agency in the matter. She essentially chooses Sora over them, and why wouldn't she in her position? She made a promise to him, and he's her ticket to redemption and friendship.

This is a character who genuinely wants to be a good person and do good but whose circumstances are so overwhelmingly hopeless that there's just no way she can accomplish that completely. A girl who wants to be an angel but who falls on the way up every time. And I think that's neat.

i wish people could be less “all or nothing” when it comes to accessibility efforts. by that i mean, of course it’s important that everything be made accessible. but i feel like some people get caught up in that mentality and decide “well, i can’t possibly make everything around me accessible, so i’ll do nothing instead.”

writing one image description is better than writing none. writing a very brief image description is better than writing none. providing transcripts for new episodes of your podcast moving forward is better than never providing any at all. making something slightly more accessible according to your own ability and resources is so, so much better than doing nothing!
