the only 2 decent aquarium stores in my city have been at war with each other for the last 5 years. i dont wanna gossip, but their owners might be exes 🤭

its kindof insane just how complicated their beef is

love going to local fish shops because there’s always CHARACTERS running them. was buying white clouds and the guy goes hey do you want this one with the squiggly back for free. his name is lightning mcqueen VROOM VROOM KACHOWWWWW BITCH!!!!! and then carried on normally as if he hadn’t just created a core memory for me

moved my mystery snails to the community tank so they can fix the algae problem for me (cuz im 2 lazy 2 do it myself), so i can start growing lots of plants in there, so shrimp can hide in them and not get eaten, so there can finally be a healthy ecosystem

hope they dont destroy all my duckweed. i need it for the shrimp.

for the last few days my new bamboo shrimp has been digging in the dirt instead of filter feeding, despite the fact theres plenty of food in the water, and that i was feeding it. i finally realized what the problem was. my hang on back filter wasnt working AT ALL!

if not for this shrimp i honestly wouldnt have noticed it until it was too late. the legend mightve actually saved my fish&shrimp's lives

after i fixed everything it immediately found a place to sit and catch particles in the water :)

had to remove the big hydrocotyle bush growing in the filter sponge, so i can see better if it works or not :/ but otherwise its all good :)

the shrimp's name is Legend now btw

ok now that he's settling in he's like the most gorgeous fish I've ever seen

was taking out some floating plants, and my fish got spooked and sat quietly in the grass. decided it was a chance to take some good photos and look closer at them, maybe find some identifying features

I rearranged my apartment today and made myself an actual fish corner:

I'm going to move one of the end tables with an attached lamp next to the chair and then I'm gonna read SO many effin books in that chair. I considered getting some sort of ottoman for my feet but I think then I'd be too far back from the fish since..., ya know, the goal of this fish corner is to be as close to in the fish tank as I can be without actually being in it.

took a bunch of sne🐌 from my other tank, and made them a lil breeding setup for when i finally get a pea puffer (hopefully sometime this year lol (i wanted one for sooo long T_T))

i put seashells and crushed egg shells in there for extra calcium (dont recommended doing this with the tanks u actually care about btw), and gave them some leaves to eat

also feed them veggies every once in a while

currently feeding the sne🐌 some garlic

they love it!!

also put some guppy grass in there. its my least favorite plant ever, but this setup isnt meant to look pretty, so i dont care about it. the grass does its job, and thats all that matters

i currently only have ramshorns sne🐌 and a few malaysian trumpet sne🐌 in there, but i hope to get moar sne🐌 types soon

my favorite thing about mystery snails is when they make a lil whirlpool with their foot, and create a current, so all the floating food is carried straight in to them

and then they eat it as its floating by or collect it with their foot and eat it after

so fucking cute

i dont see many people talking about this behavior, and i think we should.
