Sign-ups are now open for the 520 Day Guardian Reverse Exchange 2024!

As the name says, this is a reverse exchange:

You sign up with the kinds of things you enjoy creating.

You choose three writers/artists/fanwork creators via anonymised ads, and make a request of each of them based on what they enjoy creating.

You are assigned one request to create for, based on your offer.

You receive a gift from one of the creators you chose.

The Annual Interdimensional Haixing-Dixing 520 Day Reverse Exchange is coming back for 2024!

520 sounds like "I love you" in Mandarin, so May 20th is a bit like Valentine's Day. To celebrate, we're back with the sixth annual 520 Day Reverse Exchange. As the name says, this is a reverse exchange: instead of making your request and that request being assigned to a writer/artist/fanwork creator, here:

You sign up with the kinds of things you enjoy creating.

You choose three writers/artists/fanwork creators based on anonymised ads.

You make a request of each of them based on what they enjoy creating.

You are assigned one request to create for, based on your offer.

You receive a gift from one of the creators you chose.

(An updated rules/info post will go up before sign-ups open, but here is last year's for reference.)

Requests so far cover a range of related fandoms - from Guardian (drama, novel and RPF), to The Lost Tomb Reboot, Detective L and other dramas, to commercials - and media from fic and art to meta, gifs, picspams and memes. There are no assignments, and signing up doesn’t mean you're required to gift (though of course we hope you'll look at other wishlists and be inspired!).

Please take a look and see if there are any prompts you'd like to fill! There are no assignments, and you don't have to be signed up to participate in gift-giving. Guardian Wishlist is a Dreamwidth-based multimedia gifting fest for Guardian (drama, novel, and RPF) and other canons starring the main Guardian actors.

Step 1. Sign up with your wishlist between 21 August and 8 September at the Guardian Wishlist comm. Requests can include any media, including transformative works like fic, art, icons, vids, podfic, and also picspams and meta, translation advice, related music links, lollipops, dried fish snacks, anything.

Step 2. Mods post each person's requests in a separate post on the Guardian Wishlist dreamwidth comm. Comments are screened.

Step 3. Anyone can write, draw, record, or otherwise create gifts for any sign-up. There are no assignments. You don't need a Dreamwidth or AO3 account to participate.

Step 4. On 29 September (Reunion Festival), mods reveal the AO3 collection and unscreen Dreamwidth comments.
