BLOOD

Key Words: obligation, relationships, expectation, unity, commitment, potential

The Blood Aspect favors the group above the self, though how favorable it is depends on the class the Blood-bound are assigned to. The Blood-bound are people often tethered by responsibility and obligation, and tend to use these experiences to understand or use different strengths and weaknesses of the people around them.

More often than not, people marked by Blood will be motivated to act out of compassion or a desire to help others. How this evolves or is shown may differ from Class to Class. It’s easy for them to form relationships –or break them– for they are a people-first kind of people. It can be easy for them to also forget about their own needs, but not necessarily their relationships. They may neglect their own selves for something better– like a projection of someone they want to be– but it’s their relationships that give them power to act even if these relationships are soured. It’s the relationships that the person has that help define the Blood-bound, until they learn to define themselves.

Relationships and compassion can be powerful double-edged swords. Just as much as it can be easy for Blood-bound to form connections and unity, with it also comes the weight of expectation, responsibility, and obligation. Because of their sway with people, it is easy to push a Blood-bound exactly where they shouldn’t be: in an active leadership position. Blood-bounds are more seasoned to be passive inspirationalists using their words as their best weapon to rally people to a common purpose, or to dissuade them from a thought or action. It should be noted as well that what a Blood-bound can wield against others can also be wielded against themselves. The Blood Aspect works on a two-way connection between the self and the other, unlike most other Aspects where one can rely solely on the “self” or the “other” but not both.

Ultimately, the Blood Aspect works with the potential of people and what they could be. It is the nurture side of nature vs nurture.

LIGHT Curiosity, knowledge, awareness, perception, importance

There are two things that drive Light players: their awareness of what is around them, and how they are able to control that awareness. Light players are like editors: in a role of importance, they see the narrative and they are the ones striking out words and ideas and revising it all. On the flip side, they are powerless if pieces of the narrative are hidden, as they would be unable to edit changes and perception. The manner in which they react to being aware of their realities relies upon what Class the player is assigned to. I would venture to say that awareness is the most important key term for the Aspect of Light, as it shapes everything a Light player can do.

Light players are masters of their chosen topics. They're willing to pour hours into researching what interests them. They're good at finding patterns, and bringing together multiple resources in order to make something new. When you get them started on their interests, they will likely go on a long winded ramble about it, even if their audience doesn't or can't follow along to it.

Because of their intimate love for what they know, it can be hard for Light players to change their minds without a fight or debate. Because of this, Light players can be insensitive, too focused on how the bullet points on their data charts connect to really grasp how others around them might feel. This isn't to say that they purposefully don't regard others, or are just cold and careless people, but more that it can be hard for them to understand social cues and individual emotions when it might go against the facts of what they already know.

Regarding Light's affiliation with luck and probability, I would say this is more of a symbolic element of Light than it is literal. A key word for light is perception. Have you ever heard the saying that if you look for something to happen, it will happen because you're looking for it? It's perceiving reality in such a way that what you assume, hope, or need becomes it, and who best would understand a reality than a Light player? Additionally, being able to understand their perception of reality allows them to look for and exploit loopholes in that reality's system. In essence, Light players are just as great of rule-breakers as they are rule-abiding people.

BREATH

Freedom, Movement, Direction, Independence, Leadership, Focus, Attention

Breath is the Aspect for the independent people, the people who are not too tethered to anyone or anything. This isn't to say they aren't dedicated, but they're likely the ones who take the long way around first than getting to the point. They're drifters, multi-taskers, doing the little side tasks before --or during-- the main one, or doing it all at once. They are natural-born dandelion seeds, drifting to the shape of a sightless wind, going wherever these activities bring them. This may lead to distractions as they bounce from one thing to another, though this could also be the person's way of organizing themselves: as long as the job gets done, who cares how many detours they make? Sometimes they might realize new things about everything they've already seen because they may drift back if the whim takes them. Whatever they do, they do with arms wide open and don't hold anything back. They may be people with few boundaries because of their willingness to embrace every experience or possibility, for better or for worse even if it hurts them or is not the right thing to do.

Breath players at some point in their life may face an obstacle that either gives or takes away their sense of independence, freedom, or direction in their choices and selves. They might have little of it, or too much of it, or a varying degree of relationships with their aspect that makes them uncertain.

Regardless, people may tend to look up to Breath players for the simple fact that they act as themselves and nothing else-- though not unapologetically, as they don't often realize that people think of them this way. This might create insecurities over their relationships, or maybe the Breath player just doesn't care about perception and continues to carry on without that worry-- but they do, either way, care about the people and world around them.

its been hard getting into the swing of things since ive been preparing to move to a new apartment and working on other projects, but today i made a key-word template for aspects and classes that i think would give a light idea of how they go together for a character and what they mean

I want to tackle this blog by starting off with 2 main projects. Project 1 would be to profile all aspects, and Project 2 would be to profile all classes.

Then once those profiles are done, i can then properly tackle specific combinations and requests.

Thank you to the anon who sent a request for Knight of Space. I will eventually get to it, after I do the first two projects (or, at the very least, after I release profiles for space and knight). You will be the first full god tier I tackle when the time comes.

Introduction Post

Howdy hi! I'm Elijah and welcome to my classpecting blog! I've been looking into Homestuck classpects for years, reading and touching up on various resources and looking at the characters to best understand what classes and Aspects are, what they do, and how they influence and are influenced by who they are assigned to. I used to have a classpect analysis going on Wattpad years ago, but had deleted it out of insecurity. Now, thanks to the support of some friends, I'm opening it up fresh and new here on the silly hellsite of Tumblr.com.

Introspection has always been fascinating and important to me. Starting with a vast interest in personality quizzes, it has expanded into a desire to understand the self and the roller-coaster ride that is. But when understanding oneself through their favorite fandom? Well, that's too fun of an opportunity to pass up! Not to mention the applications of it when making characters and stories!

What you can expect to find here are analyses on Classes and Aspects separately, as well as analyses for when they are paired together. You may even find some classpecting over different fandom characters! However, my word is not gospel; you are free to interpret things in a way that makes better sense to you and can differ from what is said here. No one's word is law, after all!

How Do You Do It?

My method of analyzing follows around a central or core idea of that class or aspect and expanding upon it based on what has been observed. I cross reference many different sources, from what other classpecting blogs think, to enneagrams, source material, and more in order to best study the subject at hand. I do not, however, include the following media in my analyses unless requested otherwise:

-Hiveswap -Friendsim -The Homestuck epilogues -Pesterquest -Any current or future post-canon content after Act 7 of Homestuck.

These sources are considered dubiously canon and thus will not be taken into consideration when profiling each Class, Aspect, and character. However, requests to profile characters from these sources are welcomed.

My takes on classpects may differ from what may be generally accepted as fanon, and additionally may differ from what is considered canon. While I do take canon Homestuck explanations and testimonials into account, Homestuck altogether is a coming of age story and the involved characters' understandings and explanations may be biased or contradictory to their personality, experiences, and actions-- which creates a paradoxical circle between influencing classpect and being influenced by classpect. As such, though a character may say one thing, I may interpret it differently. Exploration isn't about following what has already been laid out and rehearsed 100 times, but is about the experiences and things you learn by acknowledging what has been said while keeping an open mind to find the answers you are personally looking for.
