NYC: Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2021 ☘️😷🌎. St Patrick's Day is a global celebration of Irish culture on or around March 17. It particularly remembers St Patrick, one of Ireland's patron saints, who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century. St Patrick's Day is celebrated in countries with people of Irish descent.

Today we’re starting a new chapter. It used to be that the landlord had lawyers and tenants didn’t. The game was rigged. Families suffered. When the eviction notice came, people felt powerless. That’s not supposed to happen where there is equality and opportunity. This law is simple: Everyone has access to legal services. If your family of four makes about $50,000, you get a full free lawyer. We want to send a clear message to landlords: Fly right. Treat your tenants with respect. If you treat them in an illegal manner, you will pay the price. We will see fewer New Yorkers evicted, fewer New Yorkers homeless, and more families staying in their homes.

Yesterday, Mayor Bill de Blasio presented an $84.7 Billion budget for the City. To my disgust, Council District 28 (Rochdale Village, Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, South Jamaica), my district, will not have a seat at the negotiating table because our council member was stripped of his budgeting powers due to a lengthy corruption investigation. This is the 6th year in a row we'll be left out - the only place across the 51 districts of NYC. This means community groups and seniors will not receive grants, landmark initiatives like Participatory budgeting, where residents identify important projects will not happen in #CD28, and yes, we'll continue to have no voice as the City houses the homeless and incarcerated disproportionately in Southeast Queens. This photo was taken last night as the Mayor discussed his budget and priorities for the upcoming year. While we oppose Trump's policies nationally, remember right here - much closer to home - we must also be as outraged and raise our voices.
