The Talbert Files

(Warning- long post ahead!)

A bit of a heavy topic to dive into for my first post, but it is interesting!

A few months ago, a twitter user by the name of LakeBBB5 leaked a document about a scrapped, early version of The Freddy Files. This version was actually mentioned by Scott Cawthon in a steam forum post, alongside several other scrapped concepts.

Originally, when this leak first came out, it was dismissed by a group of people as being a hoax, simply made up to promote a fan-fiction. Recently, however, this has been confirmed to not be true. The fan-fiction was made by the people who found this early version of the book as a cover up to hide the fact that the book was legitimate. If you're thinking this sounds a bit far-fetched, I wouldn't blame you, but it WAS confirmed by someone who was involved with the fan-fiction, so they admitted to trying to cover up this early version.

So, what is the fuss all about? What is in this early version?

This early version of The Freddy Files (hereby referred to as "The Talbert Files" for convenience sake) is essentially a guidebook to an early, scrapped version of the lore, written by the in universe character, Christopher-Ryans Talbert.

Some of you may recognize that name as Dr. Talbert, from the Fazbear Frights book series. In FF, he's a scientist who experiments with Remnant, with relation to his daughter, Renelle Talbert. (If this is wrong- please excuse me, I have not finished reading FF yet!). However, in this book, he's portrayed more as an investigator with a bias. Assumedly, a portion of this role went to Detective Larson.

Reminder that all of this lore is SCRAPPED, and therefore NON-CANON. One of the main reasons the group of people kept it hidden and covered up for so long was because of how people would treat it as canon when it released. This is a fun insight into Scott's writing process, and what the series could've been, but it is NOT a resource for constructing a theory. Even if a majority of these concepts are likely to be re-introduced one way or another, it is still not reliable.

Got that? Alright, now I can actually get into it.

I wont be able to list everything here, so I highly suggest taking a read for yourself (Link to a download of the document compiled by Entom & a few others of this books findings will be at the bottom of this post!), but otherwise, I will still try to list some of the most significant findings.

Scrapped Concepts:

Henry Emily was originally called Emmet Tucker, a character who also appears in a singular Fazbear Frights story.

Originally, instead of Emmet's kid being Charlie, she was going to be Cassidy instead! finally, she gets some amount of relevance- And thus, her name was going to be Cassidy Tucker, and Cassidy was going to possess The Puppet.

Talbert in this book seems weirdly insistent on Cassidy being HIS daughter, which is strange because shes definitely Emmet's daughter. Talbert constantly refers to Cassidy as "My beloved daughter", and when somebody mentions not being able to find any records that tie Cassidy back to Talbert, he deletes their comment. Weird...

Elizabeth was apparently called Abigael during the development of this book. No, I didn't misspell it- Scott ACTUALLY spelled it like that. Also, this is possibly an inspiration for the FNAF movie's Abby, connecting the two characters even more.

Apparently, the safe room was planned to be sealed before the MCI, and was sealed immediately after, hence why the police never found their bodies. We can assume this was changed, because the current explanation is that they never found them, because they were inside the suits.

Michael Afton was originally planned to be the Stitch-wraith. He's described as carrying around a "stitched plush", and reportedly stitching together bodies, and stuffing them into trash bags and plushies. Interestingly, this version of Mike is portrayed more like an antagonist, like the other scrap animatronics in FNAF 6. It's entirely possible, in fact, that he may have been originally planned to be an enemy in FNAF 6, alongside the other scraps, with you playing as a different character.

Unconfirmed:

(Note that these are not "canon", because they've never been fully reference in official material, but nothing contradicts them)

Cassidy's (Early version of Charlie) favorite color is green, and the Happy Frog animatronic was made for her, by her father. (Note, this is also connects back to The Twisted Ones, where we learn Henry made a frog toy for Charlie, and when she didn't like it, he dismantled it.)

And as well, Emmet Tucker (Early Henry) created the costumes for the Mediocre Melodies, and when he was informed his creations weren't going to be used, he lashed out at William Afton.

Phone Guy is given a name in this book as Steve Callahan, which is eerily similar to Steve Raglan, Afton's fake person from the FNAF movie. This furthers the connection of William Afton being the Movie's version of Phone Guy.

Afton Robotics LLC owns a property in St Pine Valley, Utah, listed as 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, 3 Story. This is the first time we've heard of St Pine Valley.

William Afton actually divorces his wife in the year 1983 (Or, more accurately, she divorces him). Emmet's wife ALSO divorces, revealing Emmet's (Henry's) wife's name as Marianne (No last name given).

William Afton has this insanely cool written out monologue about the death of his son, and how instead of feeling sad or upset, he just felt ridiculed, and his new found wish to control life and death. This monologue also seems to confirm ShatterVictim (debunking other theories of what happened to Garret such as GoldenDuo). This entire monologue also is written in December 1983.

William tried to implicate Emmet (Henry) for the murder of his ex-wife and daughter, slaughtering Marianne and dismembering her.

Steve Callahan also had a daughter, and when she died William gave Steven a piece of Cassidy's remnant, which he put in the Fredbear suit Steven wore, so that they'd always be together. This is seemingly how Cassidy is both Puppet and Golden Freddy in this early lore.

Something very interesting is that there is a full list of all of the MCI kids full names, Including their last names. The names are; Susie Mosteller, Gabriel Gardner, Fritz Smith Jr, Jeremy Fitzgerald Jr and Cassidy "Talbert" (Her last name is actually Tucker in this, but Talbert is trying to make it look like his daughter again). The names of Jeremy and Fritz imply a familial connection to the night watchmen from FNAF 2 (Also de-confirming Fritz Smith being Michael Afton). It's interesting to note this, because if Jeremy (FNAF 2) is Cassie's dad, then that would make Jeremy (MCI) and Cassie half siblings.

Michael Afton was convicted of Manslaughter for the bite of '83 when he was 15. This confirms his age during the bite, and we can use it to say what age he would've been during the different games!

Emmet Tucker (Henry) was actually the one who was charged for the MCI, not William.

The DCI (Dead Children's Incident) was the second set of murders that takes place in the FNAF 2 location, however in this book, the victims of the second incident aren't children, they're teenagers. FNAF 2 also takes place in St. George, Utah (Also the same place that FNAF 3 occurs). This also occurs on October 31st, and none of the bodies were found. Sounds familiar, doesn't it...?

Emmet Tucker (Henry) was in the Toy animatronics criminal database. He was also under house arrest at the time for trying to kidnap his daughter, which he did not have custody over due to his divorce.

Talbert mentions that Foxy committed the Bite of '87. It is not elaborated whether or not it was Funtime Foxy (The Mangle) or if it was Withered Foxy.

He also mentions that Mike is having the FNAF 2 dreams (The cut-scenes before each night in FNAF 2. It is unknown if this is a fact, or a misdirect however).

The FNAF 1 Golden Freddy poster actually happens canonically, dubbed the "Golden Freddy Effect". It's worth pointing out the connection between Steve Callahan and Golden Freddy, and it's entirely possible that Steven got the Golden Freddy effect while he was working.

Christopher-Ryans Talbert was being paid by Fazbear Entertainment. He was also on the team that found Springtrap. Fazbear's Fright is also an official horror house made by F.E to capitalize on the rumors that surrounded it. It seems Help Wanted wasn't their first time.

The "Happiest Day" arcade machines are actual machines in universe, inside of Fazbear's Fright, influenced by Remnant. Talbert ignores them entirely.

There are these really cool reports about the FNAF 6 animatronics that make them seem more like cryptids, wandering Utah. There's one about Mike being the Stitch-wraith (Previously mentioned), Two about Ennard kidnapping children from the sewers, one about Scrap Baby mutilating people and living in a junkyard and one about Molten Freddy living in some persons attic, and even killing a child's rabbit. Seems like it reminded them of someone... Speaking of whom, interestingly, Afton himself doesn't have an entry. I suppose he was better at hiding in the shadows and keeping to his own then the others.

And finally, it's possible that in FNAF 6, you were originally meant to play as Dr. Talbert, who in this book had been researching Freddy's for a while, also while under their pay. This, funnily enough, seems to be referenced in the final FNAF 6, in Henry's line about Michael. "And to you, my brave volunteer. Who some how found this job listing, not intended for you. Although there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that is not what you want. I have a feeling you are right where you want to be."

there's a million "i captured every mob in hardcore minecraft" and "i transformed the end dimension in hardcore minecraft" videos out there but i think another one that should join the ranks is building every structure that got removed from the game. for no reason other than i think it'll be really funny to watch all these youtubers mine over 5000 stacks of bricks to make a single pyramid

When I was little my mom’s meatloaf was my favorite food. But ONLY her meatloaf. I didn’t like anyone else’s, and she told me that she would teach me how to make it when I was older. And when I was like 19? She finally taught me, but she told me never to tell anyone else and I was like weird but okay

Anyway, she was super fucking homophobic and abusive to me when I told her I was gay, so here’s the recipe

4-6 lbs of Hamburger/turkey burger

1 pk onion soup mix OR ranch mix

1 TBs ketchup

1 Tbs spicy brown mustard,

1 Tbs bbq sauce

1 Tbs steak sauce

1 egg

mix, shape into a loaf in a big pan, and bake at 350 for 2 hrs (maybe 2 and a half if you’re feeling dangerous)

You can get almost all of these ingredients at the dollar store, and have leftovers if it’s just you. The leftovers make great tacos if (taco seasoning is also like a dollar). Enjoy your revenge loaf

hey guys i just spent literally hours binge reading handplates whats going on

This isn’t saying you shouldn’t write bad or sad stories or anything, but from Gaster’s perspective as a character in those stories of course he’d want “happy” endings, haha.

But anyway, I kept telling you guys that when Handplates was over I would tell you. Well… here we are. After seven long years, here we are.

When I started I never thought I’d make it. To be honest, it doesn’t feel real to me at all. My brain still expects to do another page in about two weeks as it always does. I assume it’ll take a while to sink in. There’s a lot to say but this post is already incredibly long (sorry), so it’s probably suited to its own post.

But for all of you out there who read this story, whether you were there from the beginning or just came in now, thank you so much. And for all of you that were inspired by this comic, who created things for it, who blessed me with so many amazing gifts of art and fic and music and dubs and videos and so much more… I don’t know how to thank you enough. I never dreamed that an idle idea could have come this far or had such an impact on my life and so many people, but it did.

I kind of feel at a loss for words… again it’s very surreal. But I will say that Gaster wondering whether the kid is an actual human or not has an unintended level to it since my avatar is a fox but it’s TOO LATE NOW I GUESS lol.
