a party was a party.  it hardly mattered to sana that she had been invited to the gathering by none other than wang jackson.  she would have shown up if she been asked by a stranger, the temptation of a good time too much for her to resist.  the fact that the other had gone out of his way to tell her about the secretive affair held in the dorms only made her slightly more interested.  given their track record, it could really only mean one thing.  and although he wasn’t necessarily her type, the witch was attractive and fun enough to catch her attention.  one more notch on their belt couldn’t hurt.
if anything had convinced her to attend the little get-together, it was the promise of free drinks.  long ago, sana had learned not to waste her hard earned cash on useless things like alcohol and cigarettes, instead looking for creative ways to get them for free.  she only smoked when others did, bumming a cigarette or two off of a single person and moving on to another if she felt the itch for more.  it made her feel like she wasn’t addicted, like she could control her urges if she never actually purchased a pack herself.  and the very same logic was applied to drinking.  she couldn’t have a problem if she only drank at parties, surrounded by others in the same state and taking whatever was provided to her.  of course, that had a tendency to increase the amount of partying she took part in, but that was a worry for another day.
despite her understanding of what the invitation had meant, sana took her sweet time actually interacting with the person who had invited her.  he had a very specific agenda, and while she wasn’t opposed to it, her main reason for attending was much different than his.  getting laid would just be a bonus at the end on the night, a fun way to wrap things up before returning back to her own bed.  she wanted to let loose, have fun and ignore all of the stress of school and work.  so when she spotted jackson from across the room, a comically large bottle already in his grasp, she simply turned away to find a drink of her own.
something fruity but strong enough to do the trick was made for her, the familiar taking a few sips of the drink as she tried to mingle.  she had time to interact with jackson later on.  for now, she just wanted to have some fun, socializing with a couple of friends and maintaining a safe distance from him.  if he was truly determined (as his expression told her when they locked eyes for a brief second), he would approach her himself.  she didn’t mind a game of cat and mouse, deciding for once not to be the cat.
There was no emotion on his features, no telltale signs or any sort of communication between them beside a blank stare. Now that he saw her, as sober as one large gulp of vodka left you, he thought that maybe he had been wearing his beer goggles before. An angular brow quirked, almost challenging her, fingers raising to rest the mouth of the bottle on his lips taking another swig. It was a question of who would act first.

it took her by surprise, hearing the other actually admit that she would be interested in testing out exhibitionism.  to be quite honest, it only made her feel all the more attracted to her partner, an easy smirk slipping onto her lips as she quirked an eyebrow, “are you serious?”  sana couldn’t hold back the short chuckle that slid out, mostly in shock that the witch was so open about her interests.  that was important -- a relationship without talking, even one that involved a mental link like they had now, was not an arrangement that would work out well in the end.  and while it wasn’t necessarily her cup of tea, if her partner was interested, there wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t be willing to try. “yeah, we can give it a shot.  i wouldn’t make the offer if i wasn’t serious about it.  but we should take it slow first.  we’ll start vanilla and work our way up to kinky.”
strangely enough, the familiar’s chest felt a bit lighter after her explanation.  the apology made her feel, well, better about herself and her standing with sowon.  was that why people liked to talk about their feelings?  that gentle fluttering in her stomach, the realization that the other had accepted her apology, the genuine smile that formed on her face as the weight was lifted off of her shoulders; she kind of liked it.  “if it makes you feel better, i haven’t heard anything about you.  negative or otherwise. and even if it had, i’ve learned to base my opinion of people on personal experience.”  there was a pause as she mulled over her thoughts, debating whether or not she should continue on.  everything else had already been laid out on the table, so she might as well.  “and from what i’ve experienced so far, you’re not half bad.  a little irritating at first, but hey, not all first meetings can be perfect.”
if anything positive had come from the random bonding of two strangers, it would be the newfound friendship that had formed between the two of them.  or maybe it was more of a friends with benefits situation, but sana was far from opposed to that.  the connection that she had dreaded from the beginning wasn’t quite as bad as she had expected.  all it had taken was a bit of communication for them to work things out, and she couldn’t help but wonder if a desired bond could actually be rewarding.  but that was a question for another day.  right now, the familiar had more important things to focus on.  reaching out to grab hold of sowon’s hand, she slotted their fingers together and pulled her toward the exit of the ballroom.  “right this way.  i’ve got a theory i want to test.”
END.
* –– no fit state
“oh don’t worry, i trust you. i have a partner whose ass i can’t even stand when we’re not in bed and although we both enjoy it, i admit it’s not the best way to go.” she chuckles, thinking of jonghyun and their last hook-up a while ago. “so, your dorm, was it?”

“i guess it all depends on how deep the hole is, right?” sana was mostly musing to herself at this point, trying to mentally calculate exactly how long it might take her friends to burrow out of the hypothetical trap.  she had never been very good with math, but her guess was that it would take at least a solid minute for her to reach the top again.  if she was lucky, possibly three whole minutes of struggling.  “we’ll find out when we get to the damn thing.  it’s gotta be around here somewhere...”
“i’m, like, 90 percent positive that hummingbirds can’t sing, dumbo.  they make a humming noise. you know, like how it says in their name?”  a playful grin had found home on her features, teasing basically a second nature when it came to jiho.  sometimes it felt a little too easy, like her friend was handing over material on a silver platter.  she giggled along with the other for a few moments, only stopping when she realized that jiho might actually start choking if she didn’t calm down.  a few swift steps were taken in the brunette’s direction, finally catching up to her friend in order to give her a rough smack on the back.  “please don’t die on me.  nobody’s gonna believe you killed yourself laughing over the thought of an ostrich, and i’ll end up in prison.”
just the memory of the potion incident was enough to make sana chuckle, the ghosting feeling of gills on her neck suddenly appearing.  that had been a disaster, especially considering the fact that she doesn’t even like to swim.  a cat familiar with gills was just a little too ironic.  the only thing they could have done to get the most of the experience was force her underwater in the bath (which they did try, holding her under until her skin began to prune).  “potions are different.  that’s not a natural skill that you have.  when it comes to, like, the actual magic that’s coursing through you right now, you have it under control.  that’s pretty impressive.”
“oh, come on,” she rolled her eyes playfully at her best friend’s reaction, having saw it coming from a mile away.  “this place might as well be one already.  when you start paying attention to who is fucking who, you realize that it’s all connected.  it’s a miracle that this school isn’t riddled with disease by now.”  sana liked to think it had something to do with the fact that familiars had an increased stamina or something.  at least, that was her excuse.  “you don’t have to worry though, because if everyone’s like me, then none of them would want to fuck you.”
roll away your stone ( kjh & ms )
when sana tells her that she’s lame – which basically means ‘i love you, too’ in their language –, jiho just gives her a nod along with a wide grin of contentment on her face. which fades as soon as sana says the words ‘orgy’ and ‘whole world’ both in the same sentence. “no. absolutely not.” jiho stares at her, disgusted. “no, that would not be nice at all. if that ever happened, i wouldn’t want to live on this planet anymore.”

“well, if you’re trying to annoy me, it’s working,” sana admitted with a small frown, eyebrows knitting together to show her irritation.  she knew that she was overreacting a bit.  she did, after all, spend a majority of the past week trying to piss off this girl.  well, not necessarily piss off, but she had tried her best to rile her up.  if she factored that part into the equation, then it really was only fair for sowon to try and do the same to her.  the familiar sucked in a long breath, the type that could really be felt entering the lungs, as she tried to gather up all of her negative emotions.  she didn’t like feeling annoyed or angry or upset, although that probably wasn’t an exclusive sentiment on her part.  with a long, slow exhale, she tried to push out all of those negative feelings from her body.  this was going to end well, judging by the direction their conversation had turned toward, so she had no reason to get frustrated over it.
the deep breathing seemed to help out just a bit, enough to let out a snort of a laugh at sowon’s next inquiry.  see? no reason to be annoyed, she mentally reminded herself.  the two of them were just really misunderstanding each other despite the link between their minds.  they just needed to talk things out, like any normal partners would do.  “i might be a slut, but i’m not a complete savage. like, i won’t make you undress in the middle of the ballroom.  that’s just weird,” there was a brief pause before sana quirked an eyebrow in interest, “i mean, unless that’s a kink of yours.  i’m more than willing to explore exhibitionism if you’re into it, but if not, we can just head back to my dorm.” her offer hung in the air, ready for sowon to take hold and run with it.
if one were to try and compile all of sana’s negative traits, she believed that ‘impatient’ would be toward the very top of the list.  she was the type to begin fidgeting a solid minute into waiting, foot tapping against the ground as if it would speed things up.  she didn’t dwell on the past -- or, at least, tried her best not to --, and glossed over her problems in an attempt to get to the best part quickly.  it didn’t seem worth it to waste her time sitting around, no matter what the situation was, but maybe that wasn’t the healthiest way to go about it.  perhaps it was because sowon was currently ingrained so deeply in her thoughts, or possibly because she knew that holding on to negativity was no way to start a new relationship (platonic, romantic, or intimate), but she couldn’t shake the fact that this wasn’t something she should just breeze through.  the witch seemed like a decent person, and it wasn’t her fault that they had gotten bonded.  the least she could do was try to start again.
“look, i’m sorry if i offended you with my thoughts, or if i seem like a total bitch or something.  i’m really just--,” it wasn’t like her to share her thoughts and feelings like this, but if sowon was already sensing much of what she was going through, there was no point in hiding it.  “i don’t want to bond, you know?  in fact, being bonded to you right now makes me so unbelievably angry.  it’s not you, it’s just the idea of it.  sharing my head and all.  so i guess i tried coping with it by messing with you, and that was kind of fucked up of me to do.”  sana felt nervous, an emotion that she was not very well acquainted with, and she hated it.  trying to be a better person was not worth the anxiety that came with it.  “what i’m trying to say is, we should start over.  and, you know, fuck.  but as friends, not as two people who are annoyed by each other.  trust me when i say that never works out well.”
* –– no fit state
and she went kind off off-track again. god damn it, she really needs to stop talking so much and in such an irregular way. it’s no surprise she’s completely confusing sana. “ah, you don’t know it? that’s a shame, but you’re indeed right that it would be kind of hard to scream it. oh well, i’m pretty sure that if the situation desired, i could come up with something shorter and… more relevant.”

“i didn’t say you wouldn’t be quick about getting out,” sana reasoned, a grin plastered onto her expression at the thought of it.  she could already picture the scenario, watching as the fox’s white fur turned brown with dirt, desperately digging herself a way out of the hole.  it was definitely a situation that the metal familiar wanted to witness.  jiho was going to end up in the bottom of that crater if she had any say in it.  “i just wanna see how long it takes.  we can make a race out of it, if you want.  i’ll time it and everything.”
“i’ve never met a penguin, but i’d assume it’s possible.  i mean, isn’t your cousin a hummingbird? that’s gotta suck, especially when hanging around all of the eagles and stuff.”  there had to be a limit somewhere for the types of bird an air familiar could be, and flying seemed like a good cut-off. she assumed it was like how metal familiars could only be domestic cats, and not big, wild ones... which was a damn shame, because she would have loved to be a cheetah or something cool like that. “okay, but worse than that is an ostrich.  could you imagine turning into an ostrich one day out of the blue?  that would be hilarious!”
“well, i’m not good with, like, elemental manipulation and stuff.  so chances are that’d be the thing that gets stronger and i’d be fucked,” sana let out a small laugh, wanting to comfort her friend in some way.  all teasing aside, she really did care for the other more than anyone else (except her mother, of course), and she didn’t want her doubting her own skill.  there were fields that they both thrived in, and they both had weaknesses too.  it would be stupid to assume that one of them would be stronger than the other if their powers were effected any more. “you’re good at, like, basically everything in an equal sense.  you’re super balanced.  while i’m way into illusions and everything else just kind of falls at the wayside.  so, you know, you’d probably be better off if you actually think about it.”
the cheesiness suddenly felt like too much, and the blonde dismissed it with a loud snort of a laugh. the worst part was that it was completely and totally true.  jiho and sana were, and probably always would be, the best of friends.  they never really acted like it, always choosing to insult each other rather than compliment, but their relationship was one of real love.  sana would kill for jiho, and if jiho could cause any physical damage to anyone other than herself, then it would be the same way around too.  if one of them had been born a witch, they probably would have bonded a month into meeting.  “you’re so lame, you know that?”
“you can’t treat someone too well.  that’s like being too much of a saint.  and i for one know that i am just a regular old saint,” sana snicked along to her own words, enjoying it a little too much.  she was far from a saint, that was for damn sure, and the mere notion was enough to send her into a fit of giggles.  “the world would be a better place if everyone was like me,” she jumped in, quickly adding on a comment that she was sure to come from jiho anyway, “the world would be a non-stop orgy.”
roll away your stone ( kjh & ms )
clearing her throat, jiho is glad that sana changes the topic, seemingly amused at the innocence radiating from the fire familiar. “yeah… you treat them very well, i’m sure about that. probably too well,” she grimaces once again after the wink sana flashes her, pretending as if had given her the heebie-jeebies. “hey! that’s totally not true. he was already singing when i first heard him in my mind. and he was super embarrassed to find out that i heard everything. totally didn’t do it on purpose. not everyone is like you, you know.”

“i hope this thing made a huge crater,” sana mused out loud, only partially paying attention to her friend’s reasoning.  neither of them had ever gone hunting for a meteor before, so it wasn’t really something they could argue about.  chances were, one of them had to be right, but they wouldn’t know which one until they actually found the thing.  “i wanna push you in it and see how long it takes for you to climb back out.”
the blonde let out a loud laugh at jiho’s obvious frustration before picking up her steps.  as much fun as it was to fuck with her friend, she didn’t want to actually piss her off.  “no, dumbass, that’s not what i’m saying.  familiars can’t turn into turtles, so if you want to say i’d be a different animal, at least pick one that’s actually possible.  like, you know, a bird.  and seeing as there isn’t any ice around here to slide around on, i’d say a penguin is the slowest type of bird there is.”
“i dunno, i think it’d be cool to have stronger powers.”  maybe it was her interest in wyld magic that piqued her interest, but the coolest thing about the whole event was the possibility of strengthening her powers.  even if she couldn’t control them, at least the feeling of being more powerful would be fascinating enough.  she already dabbled in more natural magic with her coven, so she was pretty confident that she would be able to handle it.  or, at least, she liked to think that she was.  “but i guess you have a point.  i don’t really trust your control over your magic right now, so anything more is a no-go.  if you got me sick and killed me, i’d come back and haunt you for the rest of your life.”
sana let out a loud snort, endlessly amused by the other’s reaction to her response.  it really never got old, hearing jiho get all grossed out over her sex life.  “hey, excuse you.  i’ll have you know that i treat my partners with extra very well.”  she flashed her friend a grin, throwing in a sleazy wink for kicks.  “i’m sure you don’t mind it, but if i had to bond with you, i’d probably go crazy.  i feel bad for your partner.  he’s probably singing to drown you out.”
roll away your stone ( kjh & ms )
jiho’s not even surprised when sana tells her that she ended up sleeping with her bonding partner, but she does make a disgusted sound. “yuck. i’m glad not to be on your endless list of.. uh… partners with extra.” jiho pauses for a moment. “i bonded to a friend of mine, so i guess it’s okay… the thought of my mind being shared does bother me a lot, but i don’t really have anything to hide. he sings to himself so many times though that sometimes it can get a bit annoying.”

sana had a few weaknesses in this world; things she could never say no to.  cherry slushies from the mart were a great example, as she could never pass through a shift at the counter without picking one up for herself.  she loved taking literal cat naps in the warm sunshine, stretching out her feline limbs and soaking up the heat through her fur.  and she adored girls, beautiful each in their own way and all too tempting for her to ignore.  she liked all sorts of people, not afraid to show off her attraction to anyone that piqued her interest, but women?  they had a special place in her heart that she just couldn’t deny.
seeing sojung practically dissolve in front of her eyes simply by being called ‘cute’ brought out butterflies in her own stomach.  it was utterly adorable, and she just wanted to wrap the elder in her arms and give her a kiss on the cheek.  but that wouldn’t play into the whole ‘staying cool’ thing that sana was going for, so she resisted the urge as best as she could.
“i’d argue that you’re pretty damn intelligent.  one of the smartest people i know, at least,” the familiar paused before letting out a laugh, “but i guess my friends aren’t the brightest around.”  she looked at the other with a bright smile, cheeks beginning to burn with the amount of grinning she had done so far.  being around someone like sojung probably wasn’t good for her physical health, her face sure to ache for at least a day after their conversation.  “you’re very welcome.  i just don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit.”
before she could stop herself, the muscles in her face twitched at the compliment, eyebrows knitting together in confusion.  she had never really been called clever before, unless it was about some silly prank that she had come up with.  it was strange to hear, that much was correct, but it also felt kind of nice.  she had grown up with her entire family calling her nothing more than a stupid familiar, so to have a witch actually find her to be smart (aside from her dear mother, of course) felt like a bit of a miracle.  “you really think so?  i mean, yeah, uh.. thank you.  that means a lot to me, actually.”  she relaxed her perplexed expression, another simple smile forming on her lips, “if you don’t think i’ll distract you, then i’d be more than happy to help you study.  and get to know you.”
“this is going to sound so stereotypical,” sana started, biting back a snort of a laugh, “but there’s this really great japanese place just outside of campus and i’ve been dying to go there lately.  it’s so good, i promise you’ll like it!”  for the most part, the familiar liked to stay on campus, eating any food she could pick up form the mart and taking advantage of her small employee discount.  it wasn’t the healthiest way to live, but she didn’t exactly have cash falling out of her pockets, so it seemed like the best possible option.  having someone offer to buy her a meal was something she was more than willing to take advantage of.
it took a few seconds for her to realize what was being held out to her, but she wasn’t a coward when it came to this sort of thing.  without wasting a moment more, she slid the palm of her hand up against sojung’s, lacing their fingers together before smiling in return.  “no need to be so nervous, you know.  i can practically feel your pulse through your fingertips.”
how to flirt with girls.
In moments like these (which were admittedly, few and far between this year) she was thankful to have a license and a car. And for a second she hesitated again, but if she continued tip-toeing around life’s challenges she’ll never accomplish anything. So, abandoning her caution, Sojung offered her hand to Sana, her palm facing upwards and her smile awkward, but hey, she was suffering from an ‘enchantment’, after all.

“you’re literally the one coming to me with complaints, asking for a way to fix it, and now you want me to tell you how a possible solution would even work?”  sana blinked at the other for a few moments, letting the situation sink in further.  she probably couldn’t have bonded with a more difficult person.  “look, i was just fucking with you, alright?  i mean, yeah, it was an accident at first, but it’s not like i don’t have any control over my own thoughts.  it was funny.”  the familiar quirked an eyebrow at her bonding partner, ready to just back off and forget that it had even happened.  “all you’ve done since showing up is judge me, which is fine, but like, don’t keep bothering me about it if you don’t want to try the only solution i’m coming up with.  i’m trying to help you here, you know.  this whole problem has no effect on me.”
she did her best not to be offended by what others said.  she had a thick skin, and she was proud of it. but the insinuation that she didn’t carry feelings for her sexual partners, that she treated them all the same way, was enough to bring up her defenses.  it was a rhetorical question, she knew that, but she still felt like she had to stand up for herself.  where did sowon get off treating her like the school slut? and even if she was, why was that such a big deal?  “you clearly haven’t been paying attention if you think i treat all of my partners the same way.  if you’re so desperate to fuck me, or you wanna find out for yourself, i’m down.  i said i’m not opposed to it.  but if you wanna keep acting like you don’t want to, then go do it somewhere else, alright?  i’ve already got you stuck in my head, i don’t need to see you in person too.”
at this point, any prospects of friends with benefits seemed to be sliding down the drain, but that wasn’t to say that the offer was completely off of the table.  sana was curious about the whole sharing feelings thing, and it wasn’t a theory that she could try out with anyone else.  at this point (and probably for the rest of her life, considering her discomfort toward bonding), sowon was the only person who could test that for her.  so even if they weren’t leaning toward friendly, she wasn’t opposed to some annoyed sex if that got the job done.
“like i said, different circles,” she scoffed, holding back the urge to roll her eyes at the girl.  “i’m not really curious enough to actually ask around, but i’ll keep that in mind.”  her gaze narrowed slightly at the other, having a difficult time keeping up with the dips and turns that her attitude seemed to take. one second, it was like she was trying to insult sana, and the next, she was giggling to herself about dancing.  it was beginning to give her whiplash, just trying to keep up with the witch.
“no, i don’t get it,” the familiar replied with a rather bored tone of voice, having no knowledge of the game (or show?  maybe movie?) that the new nickname had been based off of.  it was beginning to get under her skin, hearing the other talk about her sex life so much -- or, at least, so negatively.  it wasn’t like she hadn’t brought that on herself with her little prank, but if sowon was as active as she claimed she was, then she really was turning out to be a hypocrite.  “like i said, call me what you want.  i really don’t care.  i mean, it’s not exactly a name that you can scream easily, but i’m sure you’ll be able to figure something out.”
* –– no fit state
“sana,” she mumbles, tasting the name and tossing it around in her mouth, until the other winks at her and tells her that she’s free to refer to her however she wants, so she can’t just miss that chance. “so, can i call you ms. screws-a-lot then? you know, like sir pounce-a-lot, the cat in dragon age 2. because you’re a cat familiar. get it.” how funny, that the only game franchise she ever played with and actually beat is the one giving her name ideas now.

“we don’t know exactly where this thing is,” sana reasoned, taking detailed steps as her eyes focused on covering the surrounding area.  “we just know that it might be around here somewhere.  bounding around like a kid in a candy shop isn’t going to help us find it.”  just because her friend was looking at her with that annoyed expression, the metal familiar slowed her pace even more, a small smirk on her lips.  “if you wanted to pick a slow familiar, you should have said, like, a penguin.  something that’s actually possible, dumb-ass.”
she couldn’t help but grin in excitement, desperately searching for that damn space rock.  how cool would it be to come in contact with an actual meteorite?  especially one that had recently been messing with everyone’s powers.  she honestly couldn’t wait to see what it was all about.  “right.  i mean, a fucking meteorite!  that’s gotta be the coolest thing that’s ever happened here.  think it’ll give us stronger powers if we get close enough?  i bet it will.”
“huh?”  the (freshly dyed) blonde paused for a moment at the question, genuinely unsure of how to answer.  “oh, well, i guess it’s okay?  i mean, i hate being bonded.  it’s like that project where you have to take care of a baby doll for health class and you realize that you never want to have kids, you know?  just this small taste of it is enough for me to confidently say i don’t need it.  but i have been fucking my partner, and she’s pretty hot, so at least something good came out of this mess.”  there was a beat that passed, and for a moment sana wondered if she had shared too much before realizing that this was jiho she was talking to.  “what about you?”
roll away your stone ( kjh & ms )
“i really, really hope that the rumors are true! a meteorite! in the area! can you actually believe it? i can’t wait to see it. i hope we find it. we must find it, right?” jiho asks her best friend, her voice full of suppressed desperation mixed with shaky excitement. she never in the world ever would have thought that she would have the opportunity to see a meteorite! a freaking meteorite! she feels so blessed by this chance that she had almost forgotten about the ridiculous inconvenience (meaning the random bonds of all baridegi students) the exact same event caused just a few days ago.
“by the way, i never asked, but how’s your bonding partner?”

watching the other turn into what could only be described as a blushing and stuttering mess, sana couldn’t help but grin.  it was almost too adorable to handle.  she just wanted to reach out and pinch the elder’s cheek... or maybe kiss her.  whichever one seemed more appropriate in that moment, she guessed.  seeing sojung smile so openly at her, no holds barred, brought out a light dusting of a blush on her own face.  her grin was just so unadulterated and real, enough to give the familiar’s heart a tight squeeze.  but as soon as it had appeared on her face, sojung was quick to wash it away, holding it back once more as she tried to keep a more neutral expression.  it was a true shame; sana really wanted to see more of that smile.
she hadn’t expected for the other to find her comment so hilarious, but she wasn’t complaining. maybe sojung’s nerves were getting the best of her, and the only way to relieve them was to laugh quite hysterically over something that wasn’t even that funny to begin with.  for a moment, the younger just watched quietly, but she couldn’t keep a straight face even if she wanted to.  the laughter was just so contagious, bringing out a bout of giggles from sana.  and then the elder snorted, and it was the most endearing sound in the world, only making her laugh harder.
“ah, how cute,” she cooed softly, mostly under her breath, as the witch tried to compose herself once more.  she didn’t think that sojung could look any more embarrassed in that moment, clearly mortified by her own over-the-top laughter.  but sana had enjoyed it.  in fact, she enjoyed it a little too much, itching to make the girl laugh once more.
“i honestly never thought you would be coming to me for study help, but i can’t turn away such a cute face.”  the words tumbled out naturally, flirting practically a second nature to her, but a small part of her just wanted to see the other flustered once more.  besides, who was she to turn down such an offer?  it wasn’t like she was dumb, but sana didn’t exactly pay attention to every lecture.  plus, it definitely sounded like more of a study date than anything, and she wasn’t about to decline a date of any kind with the elder.  “i guess i could use the help too.  i mean, i’m not the best student, i’m sure you’ve noticed, so actually studying for once might do me some good. especially with you.  i think everyone in the class knows just how bright you are... both mentally and personality wise, if i’m being honest.”
as if her mind hadn’t already been made up, the offer of food was thrown into the mix, sana’s own stomach making the final decision for her.  “alright, fine.  can’t say no to a free meal from a pretty girl.  it’s one of my only weaknesses.”  the younger pointed a quick wink toward her, grin very apparently taking over her features.  this had been much easier than she had thought it would be.  for a moment, she worried that maybe she would have to step up and ask her out herself, but it seemed like sojung had been able to build up the courage after all.  sana almost felt proud of her for such a feat.  “do you want to, like, go grab something to eat now?  i’ll accept your payment in advance.”
how to flirt with girls.
Still, despite her merciless stretching of the truth, she felt the boiling heat within drop into what was more comfortably tepid, and soon her muscles relaxed as the tension ebbed away. “No pressure, but if you say yes, I’ll buy you food.” She added this anyways, thankfully with a tone more suited for flirting. If only the red in her cheeks would fade away, but she would have to live with the misfortune of having a cherry colored face in front of a beautiful girl, because that was her life now – out of the frying pan and into the fire.

in some twisted way, despite her own game of purposefully projecting her personal activities into the thoughts of the other, sana’s mind found a way to be almost offended by it.  it was sowon’s words that almost struck a chord with her, but she was sure to mask it from her partner.  she had the upper hand here, and she wouldn’t let it go.  not even if it felt like she was being shamed by the other for openly having sex.  what was so wrong with that?  it was her own damn body; she could do as she pleased.
“what was it that you just said?  something about showing you my pleasure but denying you of it yourself?  sounds like an invitation to personally show you pleasure if i’ve ever heard one,” sana finished off her point with a quirk of her eyebrow, almost daring the witch to try and deny it.  perhaps it was a subconscious thing, but she was about ninety percent positive that she was being asked to have sex.  in the middle of the ballroom, at that.  kinky.  “i think that, if you were doing the same thing to me, i’d find my own way to release the sexual tension.  you know, go fuck someone else?  it wouldn’t be much of a tease if it’s helping me get off.  guess you don’t have that option?”  there was a pause, the familiar’s smile curving upward even more at the edges, “and i didn’t say i wouldn’t fuck you, if that’s what you wanted.  i’m just shocked by how bold you were.”
she couldn’t say that she wasn’t at least somewhat curious.  from what she had learned of bonding (or, from the small amount of information she had actually cared to paid attention to), a bonded pair shared things on a physical level as well as mental and emotional.  if one person where to get badly injured, there was a chance that the other could feel a ghost of that same pain.  so, if she were to compare that to her current situation, there should be a chance that if one of them felt extreme pleasure, the partner might experience the same.  so if they were both in an intimate situation, and they were both enjoying themselves a great amount, then it should only double that pleasure for the both of them.  that was just science, wasn’t it?  even if it wasn’t true, she was more than willing to experiment in order to test her hypothesis.
“uh-huh, sure.  i bet if i could have total access to your mind, i’d see that you have tons of friends, tons of sex, and what?  tons of parties?  who are you trying to fool here?  i know it’s not the person who literally shares half of your thoughts right now.”  the familiar gave a roll of her eyes, hands moving to thread fingers through her hair.  the sudden shift that the other made was unexpected, and it had caught her off guard.  weren’t they just bickering?  not that she was complaining about moving passed the negative interaction, but she wasn’t really prepared to suddenly be buddy-buddy with her. “sana,” the familiar paused herself before throwing in a wink, readjusting her stance as her confidence returned, “but you can call me whatever you’d like.”

the change in sowon’s attitude is so unexpected that it probably comes off super weird; but anyone who knows her should be accustomed to it by now. “i’m sowon. and you are, miss…?”

sana was really starting to realize that her ideas of bonding have always been correct.  she didn’t like sharing her head-space, even if she had a bit of control over what she does and doesn’t share. all of those mental arts lessons were starting to finally pay off, and she couldn’t even appreciate it.  well, at least, not aside from the whole teasing her bonding partner thing.  she had to be glad that her partner didn’t know how to do the same, giving her an advantage in the whole projecting thoughts field.  god knows what sowon would try to put in her head as revenge.
at first, all the familiar could do was laugh, a light, airy sound filling the ballroom and echoing off of the walls.  the whole situation was hilarious to her, a single glare from sowon making her want to throw herself into a giggle fit.  how many people could say they argued with someone because they wouldn’t stop projecting literal sex into their thoughts?  this was definitely a story for the ages, especially after the two of them were unbonded.  but once her laughter died down, finally able to catch her breath once more, the weight of the witch’s words suddenly dawned on her.  “hold up.  did you just,” she paused, another laugh tumbling out at how utterly ridiculous the notion was, “are you asking me to fuck you because you’re jealous?”
an eyebrow quirked as the other listed off the two facts she knew about her.  maybe she should put that in her twitter description.  ‘my name is sana and i screw around a lot’.  it seemed to get right to the point; she kinda liked it.  “i dunno, maybe we run in completely different circles?”  she couldn’t help but chuckle once more at the unintentional pun she had just made, her mind immediately going to her coven and the people she surrounded herself with.  if she was getting anything out of this interaction, it was an abdominal workout from all the laughter.  “it’s not my fault you’ve never heard of me.  maybe you should get out more or something: meet more people, have more sex.  you’d have a lot more fun that way, trust me.”
* –– no fit state
“who are you anyway? i mean, i know your name and that you screw around a lot, but how come i’ve never heard about you before?”

the more she thought about it, piling together all of the rumors she had heard about the elder, the more sana realized that the pair had more in common than originally assumed.  neither of them were exactly the poster child for goodness.  in fact, they were probably as close to being bad people as you could get without actually being a bad person.  maybe they went about it in very different ways, seulgi being much more openly a bitch while sana’s flaws were initially hidden by a cheerful smile, but she couldn’t ignore the similarities.
maybe that was why she had been initially unwilling to get close to the witch.  she cared about how others viewed her, even if she hated doing it, and to admit that she shared traits with one of the more unpleasant students on campus was to admit that other people could probably see through her as well.  by no means was she a shitty person, but she wasn’t an angel either.  she cared about others to an extent, but she wasn’t exactly the type to jump to lend a hand right away... more of the one who sat back and laughed at the commotion and then offered help when it was absolutely necessary.
“you should check the pack before they’re all taken,” she offered up with a nonchalant shrug, the ghost of a smile on her lips.  “might as well get a guard dog while you’re at it.  just make sure they’re potty-trained.  it takes forever to get the smell of familiar piss out of a carpet.”  it probably wasn’t possible to sound any more sarcastic in that moment, playing along with a chuckle.  her words sounded similar to those of her own family members, which almost made her want to frown, but she had learned to push away thoughts of them long ago.
"you get used to him eventually,” sana teased, never straying away from the chance to poke fun at yoongi, even when he wasn’t around to complain about it.  “give it a few more months and you won’t even bat an eye at his behavior anymore.  though i can’t imagine sleeping with him once, let alone for months at a time.  yikes.”  she added a shiver for dramatic effect, ignoring the light queasiness of her stomach at the mere thought.  the familiar snickered at the question of her plans, “cats don’t really howl.  it’s more of a prolonged groan.  plus, we built our nest last week, so that’s out too.”  there was a beat that passed before she brought her attention back up to seulgi, shooting a playful wink at her and trying her best to hold back another laugh at her next mocking query, “why? you wanna hang after my shift or something?  can’t get enough of me now that you’ve had a bite?”
you’re not clever.
“probably a bit of both, he’s a weird little bitch.” she noted casually, glazing the conversation past yoongi quickly because fuck that. fuck him. not interested. she swept her hand back through her hair in an idle movement, rolling her shoulders back instinctively to correct her posture, glancing over at the other girl. “oh, that’s short, lucky you. got big plans after? maybe a nice group howl in the wilderness? build a den together, or something?” she teased, brow lifting idly, but the query after her plans was innocent enough in truth.

the start of the message was pure silence, interrupted a few seconds later by a deep inhale.  “unnie, hey.  it’s sana,” she let out a short, breathy laugh, “i said that like phones don’t already tell you who it is.”  another pause filled the air, followed by some shuffling, “i’m kinda drunk right now, but i was thinking about you, so i guess i thought i should call, and then you didn’t answer... so here i am.”  the sound of shouting could be heard in the background, drunken slurring from other party-goers.  “we’re still friends, right?  i mean, i hope we are.  you’re so cool, you know?  and, fuck, you’re so pretty.” someone else’s laughter stopped her from saying any more, more rustling heard before she pushed out her own, awkward laugh, “i’m gonna regret this later.  anyway, i should go. talk to you later, alright?” there were a few extra seconds of silence, as if she was waiting for an answer, before the message ended.
