When it comes to Dark Urge names, it’s totally cool if you name your Durge something cool and dark like “Hades” or “Lilith” (this is not a callout, just the first names that came to mind).
But I just think if the Dark Urge was raised as a normal citizen of Baldur’s Gate, they’d have been given just a normal ass name. Nothing fancy and dark.
Maybe your Dark Urge gave themselves an edgy nickname when they ascended to Bhaalhood, but I think it’s just great if your Durge’s name is just, like, Edward. Because that’s what their adoptive parents named them. Their baby basket didn’t come with a name tag of “hello, my name is Malevolent”.

I wanna write a story about the tailor for all the BBEGs. Because let’s face it, villains don’t get their amazing outfits from any old clothing outlet.
It’s a high-end, highly exclusive tailor, who also happens to be a warlock with an oddly particular patron who just wants them to outfit the evilest motherfuckers in Faerûn. And not only are they great at it, but they are functionally unkillable because BBEGs are unpredictable.
They use a magic mirror to preview outfit designs on the villains. “So, do you like outfit one, or outfit two? We can try some alternate color schemes.”
“No, no, green would clash too much with the blood you’re going to end up in all the time.”
“You say you want to kill me so no other can have access to my skills in magic armor and clothes? Oh honey…”
“My rate doubles with every murder attempt on me or my assistants. Orin pays out the nose for everything.”
“You want to incorporate your enemy’s corpses? Sure, but there’s a biohazard fee.”
“Skull motif? Are you sure? It’s a bit overdone.”
Most of the time they’re not even in the shop, they just use a variety of charms and spells to work safely away from the more nasty BBEGs.

A dump of my Dark Urge drawings so far. Iiiiit’s Riithtethel (or just Riith), the blue Dragonborn Dark Urge who is prone to fits of violence and doesn’t like it (they even sort of compartmentalize their intrusive thoughts of violence as just a voice in their head separate from themselves). They’re a fighter class, and occasionally a goober who just uses their scary voice to scare people into compliance because it’s easier than fighting them.
The bloody drawings are partly illustrations for the “Manic!” Fic I wrote where they get drunk, dawdle off, and end up slaughtering some zhentarim traders (oops).
I just also love the BG3 Dragonborn designs and think they’re neat.

I’m calling this done because I have worked on it for far too long lol. (This was very fun to work on, though)
Inspired by “Perfect Slaughter” by @asterdurge on AO3, because I’m a sucker for sadness in fiction. Not specifically from any scene in the fic, just *hand waves* angst. Features Astarion and their OC Tyrus, a drow necromancer vampire spawn. Hope ya’ll like it.

I started with referencing “Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan” (because it’s a heart-breaking painting) to study the poses, but wanted to make it Baldur’s Gate— and ended up merging it with an absolutely gut-wrenching fanfic I’ve been reading, “Perfect Slaughter” by @asterdurge , which is heart-breaking and dark and romantic all in one. This is still completely work-in-progress but I’m enjoying working on my value rendering and trying to get better with drawing hands again. I am years out of practice. So here’s Tyrus and Astarion having another trauma alongside all the rest of their traumas.

Don’t worry, they don’t really mean it (they think), it’s a bluff (mostly).
(Resists the Urge but it does help with intimidation rolls).
Riithtethel is missing a horn, an eye (traded it to the hag) and has scars from Orin and boooooyyy does it scare people shitless.
Also I was originally gonna draw them in the adamantine plait armor, as a fighter, but it would have taken forever to draw… I’m doing a monk class run anyway.

Just some thoughts on dnd Dragonborn in BG3.
Appearances/Fashion.
Sexual dimorphism is Dragonborn is not clearcut all the time; some male Dragonborn are not massively muscular, some are just taller. Some female Dragonborn are also just huge depending on lineage (think how hawks and falcons have much larger females). Horns, frills, and scales are not even amazing indicators for their sex/gender.
Since in BG3 Dragonborn do not have breasts (due to not being strictly mammalian and egg-laying), those unfamiliar with their race can get a bit confused as to a particular individual’s gender/expression. But some feminine Dragonborn have taken up the presentation of breasts in their clothing by, effectively, stuffing their bras, mostly as a fun fashion statement picked up from other humanoids. Others won’t do so, or will base it on the type of clothing they’re wearing. It strikes me as funny when the default db feminine body wears a bralette despite not having any chest definitions that would normally require a bra, so it’s really just a clothing choice influenced by Faerǔn customs and clothing.
Dragonborn only sometimes have tails, and a very rare few will have leathery wings (and those wings may or may not be functional).
A small gag I wrote is that humanoids unfamiliar with Dragonborn in-person could be led to believe that female Dragonborn do, in fact, have breasts, because of cheap smut books taking artistic liberties.
Clans/Neighborhoods:
Dragonborn outside of Tymanther tend to congregate in neighborhoods— the clan lineages are not as strictly maintained as they loosely assimilate with the cities they settle in. The families tend to all know each other and their lineage and consider themselves a ‘clan’, even if they have no family ties. So, outsider Dragonborn will often have an easier time introducing themselves into a dragonborn neighborhood in Baldur’s Gate than if they were in Tymanther.
The sense of community care is still fairly strong— including taking care of the elderly, sheltering the homeless, and caring for the sick. That said, they really dislike seeing Dragonborn begging for money/food, or working in ‘lowly’ jobs for others of low status. (I.e. if you run your own business in sanitation, you’re fine, but if you work for someone else in sanitation, you have to ‘prove’ that your job is not lowly. But being an esteemed servant of a noble will generally be considered a well-regarded job. It probably varies heavily between individual Dragonborn as to what they consider acceptable or not). Artisans and Craftspeople are most often well-respected in the community.
While Tymanther has a more highly militarized society, Baldur’s Gate Dragonborn don’t seem to have as much draw to positions in military factions, as guards, etc. It may be part of being a more insular minority culture, or perhaps the Dragonborn who left Tymanther in the first place were wanting to avoid such roles in society.
Multi-generational extended family households are the norm.
They also will accept other humanoids into their neighborhood with ease and enjoy some cultural exchanges as well.
Dragonborn generally remain quite protective of other Dragonborn, though, even if not from their own clan/neighborhood.
Qallim/Love/Relationships
Tymanther society has Qallim as a legal obligation for all healthy young adult Dragonborn, which is basically a reproductive contract (temporary ‘marriage’ with the express goal of producing young, dissolved once the children become a few years old). Qallim is practiced outside of Tymanther but much more rarely and usually from familial pressures versus legal. It’s not necessarily frowned upon in Baldur’s Gate, but approached differently. Many Dragonborn left Tymanther specifically to avoid fulfilling Qallim contracts.
Relationships outside of Qallim are extremely varied. Some chose to participate in long-term marriages out of love, or arranged marriages for the sake of having children and strong family units. Dragonborn also often participate in casual relationships on the side of Qallim or arranged marriages, with communication and permission from partners.
Since Dragonborn are from another realm in origin, it’s unclear to me if they are able to reproduce with non-Dragonborn humanoids, and what the results of those unions would look like. It is not, however, unusual for Dragonborn to partner with non-Dragonborn humanoids and have loving relationships with them.

I designed outfits for my Durge Character, Riithtethel. I forgot to draw their tail, though.
Post-Tadpole includes a lot of partly-healed scars and wounds from a certain Mrykulite’s experiments. 🙃
Also, I wanna know who designs and makes all the armor and clothes for BBEGs, I’m sure it’s a lucrative but dangerous profession.

I’m writing a prequel Durge Story, about 10-15 years before BG3 events, and I accidentally made a NPC who’s too involved now with my Durge (high chance of ending badly for him).
Riithtethel (Riith, they/them) is the blue Dragonborn Bhaalspawn who ends up in a weird relationship with the devilish rogue gold Dragonborn, Xcandre (he/him), that fluctuates between friendship, animosity, then begrudging alliance, then probably just friends with benefits.
Riith is just incredible lonely as a Bhaalspawn and Xcandre might be secretly fearing for his life/strangely aroused
Anyways, if you’re interested in reading a fairly loose prequel about a Dragonborn Durge, you can find it on my AO3 (in bio). It’s got everything you want *waves arm like car salesman* Bhaalist cult rituals, Scleritas Fel being a gremlin, Bhaal’s A+ parenting skills, Smithing as metaphor for life changes, intrusive Durge thoughts.
