Fully exhausted, I turned on something to listen to and cracked this piece out in 15 minutes. I really dig the idea of a mimic acting as a bouncer for a speakeasy, blends into the wall when trouble comes by, anyone trying to break down the door gets eaten and they get the scraps around closing time.

It wasn't until after I finished this piece I realize it said Sea vessel so if your Kayak is at sea then you've got bigger problems than if there's a mimic. So I made one of the kayaks and turned it into a brush then Mimick'ed one of them. I decided to be a bit subtle here and I think it worked.

New meds have me very tired apparently. I just wanted a little spoon and fork making a break for it and figured rather than my usual framing I'd make it a scene of them running on a table. I prefer @catbatart 's version with the dinner plate and tomorrow I have my biggest hurdle. Ships. I am not good at drawing boats no matter how much I study them.

Troubles have been ever present to ensure that I get the "true" artistic "experience", let the record show I've had my woes. For today's piece I polled some friends on camping gear as my immediate thought was a tent and when some of them said the same unprompted I knew I had to switch. One of them said a cooler and thus this image struck me, originally I struggled with trying to make a blue cooler but the colors weren't there but instead I could whip up a red one. Pity I still lack white. Ah well.

I'm very happy with how this turned out and the speed at which I created this. This piece I created in about 10 minutes while waiting for my friends to decide their turn in baldur's gate. While this palette limits me on fleshy bits it excels in giving me metal to work with. I had a key design but it wasn't key to my design.

So jewelry is a strength of mine as I studied how to make it right for my miniature painting and I think this comes out best in the pearls. Not much to say if I had some white to work with I'd have added teeth but I'll settle for an eye. The other idea was to have the eye be in the latch but I went overt.

So I am giving myself challenges for this and I wanted to render a playing card in pixel art to some success. I think my greatest struggle was in my palette lacking lighter colors to work with. I didn't want to break my palette as that's part of the challenge. I'm going to see about using one single palette for this entire month as my challenge as that sounds quite fun lets see how long it takes for me to fold.
Unrelated while I'm doing my art for my art I am so happy to have like 3-5 people who not only like but also reblog my art. You are my baby ducks and I love you.

Its gonna be May. There I said the meme. So there I am prepping to do mermay when I saw the prompt list wasn't really fish focused. Like one of them was Toe Beans and I found myself kind of dreading working on a month of mermaids when the prompts didn't interest me when suddenly I noticed @catbatart had a month of Mimic Challenges and I thought "Oh boy I drew characters and creatures lets spend some energy drawing objects and trying to nail them down.
So here we have our classic Treasure chest and I cheated with my palette to produce the reflection but it looks nice and that's all that matters.

So I try to set goals and things to accomplish each and every month in terms of my art uploading to new sites, attempting difficult areas like drawing people or drawing bigger and apparently this month the goal was networking. Creature Codex has been a huge help in more than one person seeing my art so I decided rather than making what would be my favorite monster and instead make theirs, the Phooka/Phouka(?). A nice hairy fellow which is always a fun challenge.
I was initially struggling to think of how to portray this guy when I saw that they apparently enjoy those in an altered mindset so boom Beer bottle label. I'm happy with this piece and thankful to Creature Codex for giving me some great art to whip up this month.

So I had much bigger britches planned for other gods and then car troubles got in the way. I call it having the genuine artist experience. So yeah I love Venger I had a whole campaign lined up where they were the main villain with four lieutenants (They were the Elite four from pokemon (it was weird but I am weird)) So outside of dealing with car troubles there's not much to say. Ok so we're sticking to the idea of construction over just painting and I think the results speak for themselves. I need to get a better hang on shading but I feel my linework is really good here and I present what it is well. Happy with this piece.
Also there was no way I was fitting japanese writing in my size there so I just put my initials down. Have a quick and easy variant.
