Okay so this costume is almost done!! I’m currently dying the leather belt because it was a light tan color (I got the leather for free from a furniture store 😈) so I bought a $5 bottle of dye from my local Blick and it’s looking amazing!
The color could probably use one more coat but OH MAN does it work well! The tan on the left is what it was before and the contrast is the black dye. Can’t wait to put the whole costume on!
Okay, I know I acted silly about this, but the fact that there is 1 singular year round roller skating rink in the city of Philadelphia home to 1.6 million people is kinda fucking horrifying when you think about the broader implications of it.
After a tiny hiatus I’m back! Taking breaks between my big projects seems to help me with my sewing burnout so I’ve been trying to give myself that time to rest. I made this great little wooble in my rest time.
But now for updates! Dark Rey is my next costume and this should be an easy one. It’s half closet cosplay and half sewn cosplay! The base is a sleeveless turtleneck and I’m wearing leggings for the bottoms. BUT I worked on the robes and hood today and so far I’m loving them!
I’m so thrilled with how this turned out. The costume was tough technically for me but we made it. Enjoy this pic of the try on with me JUST EXHAUSTED😂
Just a little ✨sneak peek✨ at the collar for Eowyn. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I am thrilled hahah. I had to burn away the support fabric on the lace. And yes I mean literally with a lighter (carefully) and then glued it to the fabric so that I could hand sew it on there before I put it all together.
This was easily the most difficult part of this project so far and I’m so happy it’s done. 🥹 I may have this completed before next week!!!
I FINALLY figured out how to get this got dang collar put together. I am glad it worked 😂 and I’m ready to put together the finally version to then finish the dress 🤞 I’m going to make sure the top layer has a brocade to make it look nicer and more like the movie images. Stay tuned!
Hi! I know I know, I disappeared for a few days. Eowyn isn’t done yet but I needed some time to think on the collar piece before I finish putting it together! So I’ve been putting together my LOTR Rivendell set ✨here’s a pic of that because I’m in love with this Lego set.
Also I need a zipper and some new lace or brocade for the dress. I am going to pick that up today so I’m excited about that and should have the costume done this weekend! (Fingers crossed) 🤞
I ordered items for my cosplay after Eowyn and I’m excited about that one too! It should be a short build because it’ll be half handmade half purchased.
Pattern process. This one has been kicking my butt - as of this morning the dress panels are put together and I’m still struggling through the collar construction.
This pattern is from 2004 and there are no helpful tutorials on how to put it together and to say the pattern is vague is an understatement 😂 but I’m going to figure it out and you bet it’ll be in my final process video 🫡
The green looks ✨spectacular✨and I’m obsessed with it. I need to go get a zipper for it today and maybe some new lace…I’m not thrilled with the lace I chose so far.
Here’s a quick pic of the finished headpiece! The crown joined the horns and now I have a full headband done and ready to put with the rest of my costume! Pics of the whole thing to follow (once I get my wig figured out lol)
Next I’m starting on Eowyn! I’ve been dying to make this dress so here we go!
This crown was an adventure 😂 I failed at first - the Eva Foam was absorbing too much paint and there was no way it would work. On take 2 I covered them with Elmer’s glue a few times and then sanded them down with 180 grit and it was like ✨magic✨.
Here’s the first one - it was so cute but I had to start over when the paint didn’t work.
The photo above is after the Elmer’s glue, then primer, and a yellow base coat. Then I applied like 8 layers of glitter. ✨
What an adventure! Next I’m going to get the attachments to work and get this sucker on the wig. Horns are the only piece left!
Well the skirt is hemmed! Today I’ll make the time to go get the glue I need to finish rhinestones on the corset and then my last two things are 1) finish the crown and 2) polish the wig.
Let’s gooooo! Nearing the end of this one and ready to start on Eowyn!
I’ve now sewn all of the scales on! Thank goodness for the button foot on my machine. Tomorrow I’ll go to get some glue for the rhinestones and add those on but once that’s over this is going to be pretty much done! 😎
Started sewing on dragon scales for Bowsette today! I’m waiting on about 50 more to show up but I am SO HAPPY with how it is turning out so far. More to come!
I also finished the sleeves and the skirt today and will post more photos once I have the skirt hemmed all the way (there is SO MUCH fabric lol).
This wig kicked my butt lol. We are almost done with her! A lot of sewing in wefts and attaching a separate ponytail extension with additional red clips!
I am ready to be done and it is so heavy - I have no idea how it is going to stay on my head! I'll figure it out but any advice is appreciated.
