I think the reason Antis don't attack big name authors it's because Antis are "brainless". And no I don't mean this in the ableist sense, I mean this in the sense that they don't think for themselves. They're victims of mass media fearmongering, they like or dislike whatever is dictated by the general level of current tolerance.

Everyone has read big name author books with questionable themes. The thing is, nobody brings that up because it, genuinely, doesn't matter. So the public doesn't ponder about the nature of those questionable themes, and if they do, because the general public it's a lot more smart than Antis give them credit for, disregard it as simple fictional content and for what it is: As something that doesn't matter.

Now, because there's been such an upraise in fandom puritanism in the last few years ―I'm not sure why but what I am sure of is that there's not just one source of why―, people do stop and ponder about these things. And because there is a widespread fear and sense of "urgency" and "danger" about these things, Antis thusly are born.

Think of it as the tide-pod challenge a few years back. There most likely wasn't a huge number of kids who did it; a big part of the reason many did was because of the mass media reports about the subject. But Gen-Z got blamed and labeled and attacked for it just because there was a mass media panic about an issue that pretty much no one was seriously considering at the time.

Same with proshipping. The amount of proshippers who do genuine harm is nothing compared to the amount of proshippers who are just normal, everyday people. Mass panicking over this only breeds more hostility towards proshippers, who are in turn more reachable and brought up in reachable social media; i.e. TikTok, Twitter, etc.

I don't know if this is related to antis or not but I hate it when people think if somone animates or writes something gross like inc3st or z00phil4 for example, that means they're okay with it or are a z00phil3 themselves. I guess the South Park creators are p3dos then.

Yeah! This is something Antis do a lot. They tend to relate fictional content A LOT with their creator, which is something I (as an Arts student) have even been taught myself in school. Everything you create has to reflect, or is going to reflect, who or what you are as a person. And it's so dumb!

I honestly don't get why this is a thing? If people were to police everything in fiction to make it "healthy" or "realistic", we'd literally have nothing. Either that or it'd be boring as fuck.

A video I watched on YouTube once described this as "anime ignorance", tho it could be "media ignorance" in general. Which means, we all want to be a little bit ignorant sometimes when consuming media.

We know violence doesn't solve any conflict, but when we're watching actions movies, we love seeing the good guys beating the bad guys up because to us, it's therapeutic. We love characters being imperfect and sometimes fuck things up bad, because then they overcome that ignorance and become better people. Erasing that from fiction means erasing all that makes it compelling.

While proship is an anti-censorship and anti-harassment stance, it's important to acknowledge the stance is only in regards to fictional content and opinions of it.

A proshipper is still capable of harassing others over a warped sense of justice for political beliefs, petty revenge, or entitlement.

A proshipper can still support the censorship of other information.

And I mean that as in harassment is more than just showing your disgust or having a mutual argument. And censorship is more than just blocking a person, deleting a comment, or using the report function if it violates a websites TOS.

Proshippers can and have harassed antis for voicing their disgust, for revenge against a call-out post or other forms of harassment, for blocking them, and more.

And so long as they actively and genuinely identify as proship, then they are still proship. This isn't a private community where some leader has a registry of all existing proshippers.

So, I pity the antis who feel justified in their stance because they've had their beliefs reinforced by volatile proshippers. They didn't deserve that. And I tend to find that though those kinds of antis do condone censorship of fiction, and specific forms of harassment over fictionsl content (aka call-out posts, sorry but no matter how big red and bold your "DO NOT HARASS THIS PERSON, JUST BLOCK THEM" is, you're still catering to the volatile masses, and spreading targeted hate), they too believe in curating their experiences, and rather block and move on than start a fight or send hate. So they surround themselves with other antis who may have had bad experiences with agressive proshippers, but also believe it's wrong/pointless to send proshippers hate. Since they obviously don't interact with the proship community, they genuinely believe their side is 90% innocent victims, bullied and sexually harassed by the evil proshippers who are 90% morbid aggressors who seek enjoyment in starting a scene, so they can find targets to mock.

It's sad cause they hide in their little echo chambers, and only have their fear of the "big bad evil proshippers" confirmed.

From what I understand, the argument these people are trying to make is that, if you understand minors shouldn't interact with your content because it's NOT meant for them, why can't you understand that you're sexualizing THE SAME minors in the SAME smut you're writing.

Which is so fucking dumb cuz again, it goes off the stupid notion that minors and fictional minors are essentially the same. When they're not.

This is a take that I've seen many Antis making lately, and I think it reaches peak stupidity for a number of reasons.

A: It's so stupidly bad that it's easy to twist their words around and say the obvious: "Oh, so you think if there's a minor in the smut it's okay to show it to them?"

B: I can be naked in my own house but I can't go out on the streets naked. Meaning, it's my blog, you stepped-on cardboard sheet, as long as I put the appropriate warnings I can put whatever the fuck I want in it.

C: It's probably the most terminally-online take of them all. Because it shows you have really ZERO idea of what a minor is /l-h.

You can't seriously think a bunch of pixels with an arbitrary number attached to them is the same as a REAL flesh and bone minor; age in fiction means literally nothing when there's characters like Ash who'd been 10/11 for as long as I've been ALIVE and characters are able to live ridiculous lifespans of 1000+ years. Also, minors are rarely written to feel like minors, because they're usually put in situations where the average minor can't even see themselves in.

And of course, thinking your brain is stupid enough to not recognize there's a difference between a minor in real life and a minor in fiction, would put you in the same category as animals who don't recognize their own reflection in a mirror. Please give your brain some credit, evolution worked really hard on it.
