I'm both amused and emotional about the idea of Beau turning to Essek one day and just saying, 'hey man, do you wanna be part of the Cobalt Soul?' And Essek asks, does she mean that one of his fake personas can pretend to be a Cobalt Soul member, and Beau says no. Come and actually join the Cobalt Soul. Under a fake name and face, obviously, but he'll be a real, official member.

'I mean, come on, man. You're already helping us take down Ludinus, you're doing a whole bunch of Aeor research. Why not just make it easier and... officially join? You've got the whole boner-for-knowledge thing down. And I'm an Expositor. If I want to show up and say 'here's my friend, Definitely-Not-Essek, just make him an archivist', they'll probably roll with it.'

'You don't think any of your superiors - the elite group of spies and investigators - might see through that? Or that it might risk the attention of those hunting me falling upon your order?'

And Beau shrugging and saying, 'If they do, I'll deal with it.' A quiet, deadly promise.

Idk, maybe 'Seth' was just a random identity made up on the fly, but I really like the idea that he might actually be Cobalt Soul. Just... something about Essek, who lived a century in isolation, getting to be part of something. Never being starved for intellectual peers again. Being around people who believe that knowledge is meant to be celebrated and shared.

And Beau knowing that the Cobalt Soul is about standing against corruption. About exposing lies. Finding the truth. And trusting completely that Essek, her friend, believes in those things too.

The city of Baldur's Gate needs stricter zoning laws and dig regulations. There is no solid ground beneath it. It's the sewers. It's the Bhaal temple. It's the Shar cloister. It's Cazador's dungeon. It's Ansur's tomb. The city is built on top of like ten feet of sheet rock at most, and they didn't build OUT they built UP!!

The structural integrity of like. Kirkwall (Dragon Age) seems like a fortress in comparison. Because it's built INTO a cliff. Like even High Town is built into the jet of the cliff.

Baldur's Gate's Upper City is just like!!! Free standing!! It's bossel wood! It's a house of cards!! I refuse to believe that the first tremor of the brain didn't collapse entire sections into giant sinkholes because it was honestly just an accident waiting to happen. The city is hollow. It's a souffle.

Every time I see a post about Essek I learn something new. Like I watched campaign 2 and I somehow missed ALL of this dude's lore. Shout-out to the Essek stand for keeping me informed as it becomes plot-relevant once again

the last anon reminded me when i was in elementary school we had a civil war reenactor come to the school and he taught us to make something like hardtack (he called them war biscuits but i googled it and it looks the same lol) and i commented that it was "just bad matzah" and my teacher said "is that a Jewish thing? because Jews didn't exist during the civil war" 😭😭😭

To any trans man who needs to hear this: When they say they “hate all men” or want to “kill all men,” you don’t have to just accept that. It’s okay to feel hurt, it’s okay to feel unsafe. is it fucking weird to anyone else to think that deer are like, everywhere

today’s obsession is ancient tattoos, in particular the s-curved floral-antlered deer of the Siberian Ice Maiden and Scythian Chieftain. 

it’s such a heavily used trope in modern media (off the top of my head I can think of Pokemon, Annihilation, Bambi, Snow White and the Huntsman, etc) and why wouldn’t it be! antlers look like branches, branches look like antlers, it’s only natural to pair them

but it makes me strangely emotional that our brains have always worked this way, and been drawn to the same imagery over and over again. 

I’m also going to resist the urge to make paired enamel pins of these ancient deer, even though I deeply desire little wearable tributes of the past

i cant get over the king charles portrait. they made that thing to age in his place. that painting hangs in the house of a too-friendly family you find in the post apocalyptic wasteland who inexplicably has a ready supply of fresh meat. if mario jumped into that painting he wouldn't find a charming platformer he would be flayed and hanged like a medieval criminal by an unseeable force in a droning red void. that painting is a color blindness test for people who work in IT but believe in the divine right of kings. that painting is going to weep the sequel to blood. after he dies charles is gonna crawl outta that thing like sadako.
