I really really really hope we get to see Anthony as Viscount (and Kate as Viscountess) and not just 1 or 2 episodes. I want to see him taking care of the Bridgerton house but also allowing himself to be happy. Because he is married to his wonderful wife and they can be happy together and also take on the roles of Viscount and Viscountess at the same time. I want to see them finding the balance of taking care of their responsibilities while also being happy with each other.

Well, you saying you dont know the answer of what should happened to Pen tells me more than anything. What she did it wasnt that badN it wasnt that important. Really, marina like went really well, eloise have the pretty never bad bridgertons and all the money and beauty and the protection of her brother ( unlike Colin Who is hate by him) . Are you telling you are naking that problem for a silly beast comment?? Im sure you had call poor fst girl worst in school and here you are. You just hate her for the sake of it. Thats the truth, if your dislike was genuine for her actions you would knlw the answer. Just what i thought. Another buller. And please dont lie, you didnt like Pen from books either. For Kate and Anthony you base their personalities with the ones in the books ( she is nit a family person in the show) but for Pen you dont think of that cute girls in the book and críticamente the writer like you did with KA, you blame Pen, the wallflower

Just because the consequences are any less dire because others persons intervened doesn't erase that what show Penelope wrote was actually ruinous and malicious and could have been disastrous. It's actually quite sad that in need to defend her, you have to dismiss others' suffering, and banalize what she writes, what she makes money of.

One laughable thing is that you don't actually seem to have grasped that I was being sarcastic while saying "oh, I don't know". Had you read the entire post, you would have had your answer. What should happen to her? Well, show Penelope should learn that her words have consequences, can hurt people, ostracize them, ruin them. She should learn that she could have made Marina ostracized by her words, prompting the girl to dangerous options, just because she did not want her crush to marry her, and that it is not ok (and it even backfired on her, because by association, there was that disgrace on her family that prompted Eloise to seek LW to do something about it). She should learn that calling someone a beast, especially a WOC, certainly for comic relief, or even insulting anyone like that is not ok. That antagonizing the queen was never a good idea in the first place. She should learn that she cannot criticize one for not doing something when she actually made sure that person was stopped from actually doing anything about it, else it is very hypocritical. That by unravelling everyone's dirty laundry and even twisting things at her convenience, of course it can have dire consequences and she is responsible for it.

That doesn't mean she can't make amends. That she deserves to be unloved and alone for the rest of her life, or to be bullied. Just that she should aspire to be a better person (she certainly could have the power to inspire more reflection about social classes, the status of women, etc), and not one that thrives on others'misery while still maintaining a holier-than-thou attitude. I certainly cannot root for that last kind of person.

You keep bringing up the body, the wallflower parts. You keep patting yourself in the shoulder, telling yourself you are right. At this point, it seems you are making your own story and do not read at all what I actually said. I can see clearly you need to vent and have your enemy (any unresolved issues, perhaps), and anyone would do, and perhaps it must feel very satisfying to throw hateful words while being anonymous, for you do so on and on (I will certainly not read the others that are rotting in my inbox, and that will find their place in the bin). It is still very much a coward and a bully's move.

Fun fact, I like book Penelope. Book Penelope always managed to be accessible, and if she criticizes anything, it's always in good fun and with the ability to laugh about herself as well, and never with the intention of ruining someone's life.

Show Penelope is certainly not that. She is more of a person that will point fingers, is demeaning people who never did anything to her, spill secrets when it is in her interest, but when it comes to her, she will be victimizing herself, saying how no one understands her because she's not a pretty Bridgerton, and yet she's greater than everyone because she's LW. She is the great misunderstood. That attitude, I dislike.

I don't know, anon, have a true redemption arch, one in which she acknowledges the consequences of her actions and try to make something about it? One in which she learn to think before writing and stop sending anonymous hate?

There was actually a great fanfic in which, after an encounter with the Bridgertons who confront her about being LW, there is hope for character development, for her (and also for Colin, who should never be objectified as a prize). Thank you, you made me want to find it and read it again.

Yes, of course, they can be criticized.

But you're acting as if Kate and Anthony wanted to intentionally hurt Edwina. Like they just were smirking, laughing at Edwina, calling her a fool. What they did was bad, and they knew it. The whole audience knew it. But the whole audience knows Kate wanted to go. The whole audience knows Kate was ready to be a spinster and go far away so that her sister could be happy with her choice. She wanted to dismiss her feelings. But they were far too obvious, just like Anthony's.

They tried to do something about it, tried to make sure no one was hurt. It was a total failure. But there was no malice then.

And there were conséquences. People looking aside at Kate and Anthony. The huge fight between Edwina and Kate, which only began to end when both of them had à heart to heart conversation.

That's my défense of the show version.

The book version, actually, has none of that drama.

Show Penelope's writing though has quite the intentional malice in it, even to people she absolutely doesn't know. And she definitely ruins more reputations by writing than Kate and Anthony.

Kate, Anthony and Edwina grew from the situation. Show Penelope still didn't.

Anti Polin tries to give a safe platform for people to talk about their negative opinion about show Penelope and show Polin. You don't have to see it. No one forces you to look at it and agree. In the case you actually haven't read the messages correctly and have been generalizing a lot of things: it's not fatphobic not to like Penelope because you don't like what she writes and how she acts, and how it affects the people around her. It's not fatphobic not to personally likes what an actor or an actress does or says. From all of my expérience, I have not read any disparaging message about Penelope or Nicola's weight.

Kate never called out the queen, dismissed her feelings over her husband, never wrote chronicles that fed on the dirty laundry of society. She never used secrets for her own gain, never blackmailed. She never called someone she doesn't know a beast in a widely spread platform..Her only wrongs were falling in love with her sister's fiancé, and being overprotective of her to the point of keeping her blind. And she, at least, takes responsabilities for her actions, and questioned herself. Not Penelope, who still thinks she's a victim because she thinks no one notices her. But then again she blames the Bridgertons.

I don't know, anon. They must have seen in my blog that I liked Kanthony and disliked very much Penelope's actions, and they wanted to hurt me for the latter. For some messages, I don't think it's directly pointed at Kate, who may just be to them collateral damage. It's not even elaborated. They wanted more to make me the villain. "Sad to have these values", "wow you love cheaters", "disgusting". Like how dare anyone question their fave? They don't really care about Kate or Kanthony by themselves, they just need to clutch their pearls about their vision of it which has to be bad so at least Penelope can appear good, to try to appear superior.

They just tend to forget in the way they are being sanctimonious hypocrites. Or even racists, in some of the messages.

I absolutely do not want to be in their head.

To be clear, I don't care if Penelope is, or is not a plus size woman. I agree that the cast needs to be more diversified in terms of size, origins, etc, so that everyone may feel more represented, and does not have to cling to only one character. But as for Penelope, she could be slim as a model, if she treats people like she does in the show, never questions her actions and learns, I am still going to disagree with her way of doing things.

Am I supposed to care that Penelope ruined Eloise's reputation when Eloise had spent the entire second season chasing away all her potential suitors?

I mean, what Penelope did was wrong, but I can't find myself to care so much because Eloise is getting exactly what she has always wanted: spinsterhood.

Eloise doesn't want to confirm to society's expectations for her, yes that's true.

BUT

What Penelope did affects more than Eloise herself. It affects the rest of her family, especially her two younger sisters. Her simply becoming a spinster wouldn't affect Francesca and Hyacinth's prospects, this would and may well do so this season with Francesca debuting on the social scene.

Plus, Penelope should have known better considering she nearly suffered the same consequences after revealing Marina's secret. Had Daphne not invited herself, Portia & her sisters personally to the ball in s1 ep 8 and had Marina not opted to marry for the sake of her babies, not only would Penelope & her sisters' prospects been ruined, they would've likely been shunned for the rest of their lives.

It also limits Eloise's ability to further engage in political discussions and with wider society.
