Then it’s sand back any overspray and spray the amber color. Then there’s that whole burst part. Pencil and sand off. With this Birdseye, twice per grit. Ah, spraying again. Such a love hate relationship with spraying lacquer. But I’m refreshed and ready. I’m spraying clear lacquer. I spoke to Mohawk customer service and apparently I’m laying it on WAY too thick 🤣 This particular product is rated for four thin coats. He’s like “how much have you been putting on?!” Let’s just say a little more than that 😁 He recommended their stringed instrument lacquer, which is not only rated for a thicker application but it’s also a bit more flexible. But for this walnut I’m hoping for an “open pore” finish. Not trying to fill every pore with the lacquer.
