Thor : Do you see yourself as a glass half-full or glass half-empty kind of person?
Loki: Half-full, definitely.
Loki: Half-full and constantly rising.
Loki: Soon the water will escape its container and consume us all.

Okay serious question about norse mythology and norse culture... Is it OK to eat some or all of an offering you've given to a god you are worshipping?

I've seen it in places where foxes represent Loki but I've also seen in other places where foxes are modern representations not old representations of Loki due to the nature of foxes. Opinions, sources? All are invited!

I definitely agree with this... Loki is steering me right now to grow and change for the better ♡ It's honestly so freeing. Loki guided me to let go of things/people holding me back. I'm trying to continue doing so with work from within and his guiding hand ♡
Tumblr media
Banged out this sketch quickly the other night…I really love the idea of Loki symbolizing change and growth and breaking free of the things that hold you back. Loki never struck me as a static “bound god”–the whole point is that he can’t be bound, and he’s anything but static. If he represents change (and all the upheaval that comes with it), he’s a regenerative, transformative force. It’s a good reminder to always grow and adapt. Loki is motion.

I haven't gotten so far in that I've seen such hate towards Sigyn. I can't really fathom that??? She stays by his side and lessens the punishment as the OP said and that just is everything she can do for him... It just... I don't UNDERSTAND! HOW COULD YOU HATE SOMEONE SO LOVING AND DEDICATED? ESPECIALLY FELLOW LOKEANS/LOKI WORSHIPPERS?! I can't even...
Reason why some people hate Sigyn?
So I was reading this article on Sigyn on some Norse mythology blog, and the writer said that some Lokean folks hates Sigyn... *drumrolls* .... because she does not free Loki from the cave...
Tumblr media
So they're ok with the Aesir leaving him to suffer with the snake, they're ok with Freya, Odin, Thor, Tyr and the rest. But Sigyn? NOPE.
They hate the ONLY ONE who's trying to do something... and blame her for Loki's fate? ^^' I guess the same people would agree with Burgess and blame her for her kids' fate too ^^'
I know that the snake is often shown as small... But PLEASE, remember that it was picked by SKADI herself. She KNEW what she was doing. She was not going to choose some small viper. You know that her snake was the biggest, meanest beast.
Tumblr media
source: https://www.deviantart.com/vera-ist-44/art/Sigyn-and-Loki-259067221
Odin let Sigyn stay by Loki's side, but we know he wouldn't have let her free him. Choosing to stay probably meant losing her powers of Seidr and Galdr. She sacrificed what was left of her life and her freedom TO BE WITH HIM, and bring him as much comfort as she could. The gods only allowed her that bowl. DON'T BE MEAN OR CONDESCENDING. She's doing her best, and Loki appreciate her efforts!!!
Unless they think that Sigyn is the one keeping Loki prisoner?
I remember a lokean telling me on Pininterest how "toxic" Sigyn was... Well, after dealing with so much poison for such a long time XD
But I really don't get it... Do they think she's Loki's jailer? Keeping him there?
So what? This would be a sort of Nimue & Merlin story? Where she forces him to stay by her side? (interesting that on the Camelot musical, Nimue uses a musical spell to enchant Merlin, take his powers and make him come back to her... GALDR USER???)
youtube
(I've got Loki whispering in my ear that he WOULD TOTALLY BE INTO THAT XDXD Let Sigyn chain him up and let him be at her mercy while singing him pretty songs XDXD We're talking serious matters here, and the Trickster is exposing his kinks XDXD)
Anyway, that would not be a punishment. More of a treat, I guess XDXD Though of course, those people are SO SURE Loki HATES Sigyn... They read Harris, Marvel and Gaiman a bit too much, I think ^^' And that's the danger of all those retellings, isn't it? In the end, people end up believing what they're saying is true... most of all if they're all telling the same version of the story: Loki can't stand Sigyn and wishes to be anywhere but near her.
Tumblr media
Loki LOVES Sigyn. Seeing her by his side in the cave breaks his heart because he hates seeing her suffer, but seeing her by his side is the only thing that gives him strength.
It is CLEARLY STATED IN THE EDDA. Sigyn is upset at her consort's situation:
Tumblr media
And no, dear writers, she's not upset because he's bullying and insulting her. She's upset because THE LOVE OF HER LIFE IS BEING TORTURED and she can't do anything else but hold that bowl to help him.
Would she kill that snake if she could? OF COURSE.
But she can't.
And it's not like she was leaving his side to empty her cup by choice. It's clearly stated that it's full, and she HAS TO EMPTY IT. She takes no pleasure in seeing Loki suffering, and runs back to his side once she's done with her task.
Stop judging and fancying yourselved BETTER than a goddess, PLEASE.
And now, I'll let the Eddas do the rest of the talk...
By him, still unwearied kneeling,
Sigyn at his tortured side,—
Faithful wife! with beaker stealing
Drops of venom as they fall,—
Agonising poison all!
Sleepless, changeless, ever dealing
Comfort, will she still abide;
Only when the cup’s o’erflowing
Must fresh pain and smarting cause,
Swift, to void the beaker going,
Shall she in her watching pause.
Then doth Loki
Loudly cry;
Shrieks of terror,
Groans of horror,
Breaking forth in thunder peals
With his writhings scared Earth reels.
Tumblr media
SIGYN IS A HERO, Y'ALL.
Whatever some scholars might say the "Sig"- part of her name is not about the pouring. It's about the Victory OF STAYING BY LOKI'S SIDE. Every time she can come back to him, every second of rest she can provide him, is a VICTORY AGAINST ODIN AND HIS PUNISHMENT. And a proof that their love is victorious, stronger than Odin's hate. Stonger than the gods themselves.
Loki might be called her Defender, but she is HIS PROTECTOR.
She's THE ONLY ONE who stayed by his side and helped him.
THE ONLY ONE.
And don't try twisting that story to fit your narrative or your ships.
Don't darken or change her character - it just makes you look pettier than Odin.
Don't erase her, as if you do, then, who's going to provide Loki some comfort? Who's going to stop the earthquakes?
Most of all if your're a Lokean or simply a Loki fan: RESPECT HER, and appreciate her work and efforts.
Loki would want you to.

For as long as I've been getting to know Loki and even after awhile of a break from magic, I have known this to be true. Loki stands with you. Loki holds you. Loki accepts you. I am so lucky to be getting to know Loki and working with them. ♡
Loki understands rage about injustices. They understand the grief that comes, too. They understand that the Chaos that comes before the healing hurts. They know. They understand.
They will sit with you while you grieve. They will hold you while you heal.

That's... Kind of how it seems actually. A good description. It's like "Here this is going to hurt and you'll have to face a lot but let's do this together and you'll feel MUCH better afterwards."
The other day, in a server I'm in, someone described Loki's methods as "I'm going to break your bone again so that it heals right this time", and I've just been thinking about that a lot.

Nine Lokean Virtues:
Tumblr media
1. Truth: Be real. Be true to yourself and allow others follow their own truth.
2. Humor: Learn to find the humor in things, especially yourself.
3. Humility: If you need to tie your balls to a goat to accomplish your goals, suck it up buttercup.
4. Cunning: Try to think outside the box. Don't make a mess so big that you can't figure your way out of it.
5. Transformation: Don't be afraid of change, because that's how we grow. Don't be afraid of self-examination and listen to constructive criticism.
6. Creativity: Create awesome stuff. Try new things out. If you don't like it, blow it up and try again.
7. Accountability: You are the only one in charge of your own destiny, your own life, and your own actions.
8. Empathy: Try to see things from more than one perspective. Shape-shift into someone else's shoes before you pass judgement.
9. Experimentation: A mistake is only a mistake if you do it twice. Until then, everything is an experiment.

I don't also mean to bash Catholicism but there were a lot of toxic lessons when I grew up and I was taught to "fear" but like it became a crippling absolutely damning fear that consumed me. I thought I was constantly going to hell for decisions that were actually.. Not that bad. And I thought punishment like that too was given "to those who deserve it through their actions" ... I branched away from Catholicism (being I had questioned it since I was a child and been very drawn to mythology and other gods/goddesses and it is very loving and supportive no matter what your status: mentally ill, physically disabled, queer, etc. This changed my life. Also sorry to ramble bah ♡
working so hard to unlearn the whole like "this physical pain im experiencing is a punishment from the divine" thing i picked up somewhere along the catholic trauma highway
the nerve pain in my leg is not in fact because loki is saying "time to take a break lol!" and punishing me for doing too much. it's because im a dumbass and ran on ice and injured my knee 7 months ago, and i am continuing my dumbassery by not resting it enough bc i can't come to terms with the fact that my abilities have changed so drastically.
ITS NOT MY FUCKING GOD HURTING ME ON PURPOSE HOLY SHIT
thanks catholicism

"there is no clear evidence of Loki's worship in ancient times"
But stories were told of him - yes?
And did they make people laugh?
Did they make them squirm?
But a hearth stone was carved of him, yes?
Someone's love and time emptied into little mouth stitches and a curly mustache
They imagined him, right?
And someone looked at the sky
Saw Thiazi's eyes
And the old dwarf's toe
And saw the red one, burning bright
And named it Loki -
Right?
Does a lack of worship mean
A lack of love?
What about a million scintillating threads tying the web of stories, great and small?
What about kindling the imagination
Like wildfire
Like dandelion seeds
Blowing across a northern sky
Why does worship not mean
Deeply Beloved?
I am with Them - They are with me
Everyone who once heard a story who heard a story of a god called Loki
And told it to someone who told it someone
Until it got to me. To you. To us. That's worship. That's love to me.

I do agree with this. There is also this thing called forgiveness. Imagine holding grudges for THAT long... I'm sure tons of gods/goddesses be it whatever truth is in stories/mythology have moved on from tons of things? But maybe I forgive too easily /ser
If you’re still upset about some dispute the gods had in MYTHOLOGY a thousand+ years ago you need to seriously chill. I can be a Freyja devotee and work with Loki as well. Did he slut shame her in lokasenna? Yes. Was lokasenna written by a Christian HUMAN dude? YES. Remember that. If you take mythology literally without thinking about who wrote it and the context and religions and politics of the time then you’re being foolish. Sorry, but it’s true.

I feel like Loki would be a great storyteller. He'd bounce around the fire being theatrical and shape shifting into the characters in the story to give it life. He's making everyone laugh and feel safe. 🥺💚🫶

Always remember that the world is full of magic and the Gods watch over you. Hope is hard to find in this day and age but once you get ahold of it, you must protect it, and it will protect you back.

So I realize this sounds like I mean that nobody can like Marvel- no no no... That isn't it. Just please respect the gods/goddesses while you do.
Unpopular opinion- people minimizing the deities in Norse Mythology by playing house with them in fanfiction CAN be seen as disrespectful to the gods/goddesses themselves. I'm not saying that means you're terrible but these gods/goddesses do exist and they are watching and listening.

So I had a moment last night where I turned my music on shuffle like usual (some songs are newer because I felt drawn to them), and a whole string of songs came on as I felt Loki with me. I could feel that I would be ok and I felt his happiness. I could just FEEL him. It was absolutely amazing. I feel more empowered today (ever since yesterday feeling him) and felt the strength to get out of a discord group I was in and delete messages from someone who doesn't truly believe in my experiences with spirituality. I realized to myself "You have your own experiences and they have theirs. You DO NOT have to water your experiences or even tell them. You definitely don't have to feel bad for having them." I felt Loki gave me my message loud and clear: "Love beautifully, live for your beliefs and be empowered to make a decision that will benefit you even if that means cutting people off in your life." And I heard the message SO LOUDLY. I'm in awe. Loki is very respectful and very loving. I am so lucky he's in my life. I feel he guided me to start this blog and I'm so so happy. I feel his warmth like my cup is filled with love and support. I could cry and I barely ever cry. ♡
