Later that evening, he calls Bea for their weekly FaceTime chinwag. He gets to see David, which is often the highlight of his day, though he did see Alex in those grey joggers today so David’s got stiff competition. He won’t be sharing that with Bea though. He does, however, tell her all about how Alex had fixed his drawer. 

“This Alex fellow sure seems to be at your flat quite often, Hen. What’s happening there?” she inquires, waggling her eyebrows at him. 

“Nothing’s happening. He’s my neighbour and he was doing me a favour, Bea.”

“Hello. How have you been this morning?” “Oh, you know,” Alex says, dragging a fingernail down the side of Henry’s neck, lips following in its wake. “Harder than Nelson’s Column, but otherwise good.” Henry laughs, and Alex shushes him. They are supposed to be hiding after all. He certainly doesn’t want to be found by anyone who isn’t Henry.

“Good morning, Prince Tyler,” a group of blushing girls sing song to him.

TK grins, his eyes crinkling and his smile dazzling. “Hello, ladies. Lovely morning, isn’t it?”

Lovely morning? Carlos thinks to himself. Who is this version of TK that thinks mornings are lovely?

The girls giggle, grabbing each other’s arms and immediately whispering among themselves as TK and Carlos walk away. TK continues on as if that was nothing out of the ordinary and Carlos forces himself to wipe the shock off his face.

They’re not the first people to come up to TK. As they weave their way through the market, TK is approached by many or admired by far. He's friendly and charming and acts like every person who talks to him is a gift instead of a waste of his time. He's excellent at putting on a show.

I'll be honest, I have very little inspiration right now, and my brain is super garbage, but the World War I fic seems to still churn slowly forward? Enjoy, maybe, I hope?

He cut himself off and tapped Henry’s shoulder. “Am I telling them that right?” Henry sighed and nodded. From underneath the coat, he raised his hand to his mouth; just touching the fingers to his lower lip then pulling it down.  Alex watched him do it again. “You’re going to have to tell me what that means the moment you have your notebook.” “Thank you,” Srivastava answered instead. “It means thank you.” The man seemed to hesitate — something new for his precise, pristine demeanor. “We’ve come to use some signed language in our meetings. Alex glanced back at Henry, who nodded and mouthed the very same words.  Thank you.  He gave Henry a little squeeze. “Don’t mention it. Call it even for snapping me out of it, okay?”

I am so not ready for the weekend to end. Also, life is just a lot right now. In protest, we've got snippets squared. Thanks to @im-overstimulated-and-im-sad, @lemonlyman-dotcom, and @tellmegoodbye for the tags today.

First, a taste of Tarlos from the upcoming chapter of esta noche es de alegría:

But beyond that, selfishly, he had imagined watching the man himself. Sitting beside him while he slipped from planner to participant, and finally let himself enjoy the company. He loves the way Carlos consumes food whenever he’s with his whole family — he eats with his hands, in big bites and mouthfuls he takes tongue first, and he licks his fingers after, like he’s reverted to a time in his childhood before all his practiced, proper manners. It’s casual, and comfortable, and in it, TK can see a glimpse of the boy he must have been: youngest and only, all big eyes and shy smiles, precious enough to indulge him this way just long enough for it to stick. The first time Carlos had forgone a napkin in favor of sticking his whole thumb in his mouth and sucking stray salsa from his skin, TK had figured it was flirty innuendo. Now, the fact that Carlos lets him see that side is not just hot, it’s humbling.

And another little look at the FirstPrince that won't leave me alone:

All of Henry is in its perfect place, from every shoe and soft sweater in his small closet to every book in his floor-to-ceiling shelves, every straight tooth in his wide smile to every strand of his stupid swoopy hair. Alex has a head full of curls that cannot be fully tamed and a room trailed with testaments to object permanence, everything left exactly where it first landed until the next time he needs it again. He stays up too late and sleeps through alarms, then tries not to wreak havoc on Henry's set schedule. And somehow it works. Has worked. Until now. And it hurts, but Alex isn't surprised. It was only a matter of time, to be honest — he could only mess up Henry's life for so long.

“What?”

“I just don’t know how you do it,” Carlos laughs, shaking his head fondly.

“Do what?”

“Make that look so good.”

“Oh, you like?” TK asks, voice smug to match the smirk that crosses his gorgeous face. He holds his arms out and does a little spin to show off.

“Yeah,” Carlos growls, sitting up and leaning forward. “Come here.”

TK easily complies, deftly situating himself in Carlos’s lap on the edge of the bed and batting his long lashes at him. Carlos puts a hand on the back of TK’s head and pulls him in for a sweet kiss. It starts slow, time stops with the slide of their lips, moving together easy and smooth like molasses. TK quickly opens up to Carlos, welcoming his tongue into his mouth, giving as good as he gets. He paws at Carlos’s shoulders as their tongues caress each other. Carlos grips TK’s hips and pulls him in closer.

When TK eventually pulls back to take a breath he’s panting, his eyes have glazed over a bit and his cheeks are flushed. “We’re not going out, are we?”

“No,” Carlos confirms with a voice that’s already dropped a couple octaves lower, sounding just as worked up as TK looks.

“I wanna push my c*ck inside you,” TK murmurs, voice trembling as his body rocks forward against Carlos’s. Carlos’s cl*t is pressed hard beneath TK, the roll of his hips dragging his husband’s obvious erection over him — stuttering patterns that paint stars on the backs of his eyelids, and threaten to dissolve his muscles entirely. TK gasps and pants and grinds, and renews his fervour when Carlos grips his hair slightly harder. “I wanna feel how tight you are. I wanna feel your p*ssy gripping down on me. “I don’t want you stop there,” Carlos tells him. He eases his hips sideways in increments, and gasps at how it alters the pattern of TK’s grinding.

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday

Thanks @onthewaytosomewhere for the tag! I wasn't gonna do anything with it cause I'm pretty in the doldrums this weekend, but... here we are. Persevering, et cetera.

(Apologies to Rangers fans everywhere for finally getting some wind on Hockey Boyfriend Henry the day y'all get booted from the playoffs.)

After managing to snatch a few blissful days in Texas for Christmas, Alex goes back to Connecticut, and Henry returns to New York alone.  They live together, but they don’t. Most of Alex’s things are here, but Alex himself rents a room with a few of his teammates near the XL Center in Hartford—the smallest, least desirable room, because he only needs it for the nights where his team aren’t on the road but he doesn’t have enough free time to head into the city and spend the night with Henry.  It’s fine. It’s not ideal, but it’s fine. And besides, it’s only for a couple of years, while Alex pays his dues in the AHL; in the meantime, Henry practically has the Amtrak schedule memorised, and has every one of Alex’s home games in his calendar. He doesn’t think the thrill of watching Alex on the ice will ever wear off. Certainly, the thrill of loving him—of being loved by him—has yet to do so.
