Del Kierson von Wincott among his plants. I stuck in a pvc pipe for him to play around, we'll see how he likes it.

Probably the world's smallest Amazon Sword. This plant is 3.5 years old. Growing plants is frustrating sometimes...

Yozak didn’t make it through the night.

Update on Yozak
He moved over night, and seems to be hovering beneath his anubia leaves this morning, so I believe he's still alive. The cardboard is back in place and the heater adjusted so I'm not cooking my fish, temps now just above 80.
It's just a waiting game now. I'll check him tonight.
Thanks for the advice I've gotten.

Update: so I let Yozak out of the cup and he listlessly floated down onto his plants and bridge, but I'm hopeful and he might have moved a little in a way that looked like his own action, not the water, not completely relaxed like a dead fish, so I put up cardboard "blinders" to keep his tank dark for a while and I'll check on him tomorrow. Holding out hope that he will pull through. Tank water just under 80 degrees now.

I’m afraid I might have accidentally shocked Yozak by making a 100% water change today. Stupid rookie mistake, yeah, I just want him to come through. I’m not sure what to do other than let him sit in the tank in the dark for a while. He goes non responsive fairly regularly and tends to sit around now a days and he can’t see. His filter broke, so I got a new one and needed to do new installation and a quick clean so I took him out in a cup and did the tank, but he looked so non responsive. The water change kicked up a bunch of substrate dirt, and the water was pretty cold, so I put him in the 5 gallon bucket,l with warmer water, but I tipped him out of his cup into the bucket a little too soon. At that point he definitely was still alive and nibbled at my hand like he does but was very lethargic and sank to the bottom and just sat there. A while after that I took him back out to start him acclimating in the tank, but he appeared pretty lifeless. As of now, I’ve left him in the cup floating in the tank, and he seems to have some Gill movement, not much and it might just be the sway of the water making it look like he’s breathing. There’s no movement otherwise. I am very upset and I really hope I didn’t kill my fish by trying to help.

The boys had a great time without me while I was gone and now they have a cool scuba robot illustration to look at too. Wisteria needs some dead trimming.

TANK HELP NEEDED!! ANY INSIGHT IS APPRECIATED!! I just noticed it this morning, but I seem to have a scratch in the glass on the INSIDE of the tank and don't know what it's from. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but I circled it with blue dry erase marker. When I run a fingernail over it, it feels like the tart of a crack. Has anyone else had this on a tank? Is this a sin it's going to break? Water damage to my rental house aside, I don't want to jeopardize my boy if this is a sign te tanks about to give way. Again it's on the INSIDE of the glass, outside is smooth. ANY HELP OR INSIGHT APPRECIATED! Thanks.

Today, I’m cleaning and rearranging MY room, so my adverse-to-anything-changing, whatever-it-is-we’re-against-it boys are pretty concerned and would like me to know it’s s bad idea.

The girls portrait sketched and colored in. Now just to add the background. I think it came out nicely. They are so gorgeous. Next I'll have to draw my boys to match, though I think it'll be harder to get nice reference pictures of them. The girls are so photogenic and look like theyre posing all the time. (New Tumblr auto-censor doesn't like leopard gecko or pictures of them, apparently, so I apologise for the NSFW tag they hit it with, it's under review.)

Here we have Io's portion of the leopard gecko portrait. I've come to the realization that I can't draw lizards very well, and I can color less well than that, but this is what we've got. Now on to Callisto's part.

Water change day! So we did some plant shuffling too today. Not much of a change in Yozak’s tank, but the plants needed some dead trimming. And then the Java fern is procreating so I moved one section over into Wincott’s tank to start filling out his tank more. The wisteria is doing fairly well, but still a bit less than I expected. (Everyone says it's an easy beginner plant, but let me tell you, I have killed so much water wisteria by trying to make it live, you have no idea.) Some liquid fertilizing today and a few root tabs.

Update on the tanks and plants. I took the dying Amazon sword out of Wincott's tank. The one in Yozak's tank is also still really small, stunted growth in both because I still haven't gotten my rear in gear and bought root tabs for them. I moved the dying plant into a jar by the window to see if I can't bring it back. The Java fern in Yozak's tank has one leaf that's browning at the tip, to be removed soon, otherwise the plant looks to be doing excellent. The wisteria is doing good in Wincott's tank despite the three-dimensional wall of algae that grows between it and the light. As for land plants, everyone seems to be doing well, particularly the aloe and large Jade plants. Spider plants are struggling some due to watering inconsistency. All in all, everyone is doing well and looks happy! I want to rearrange my set up again soon for the potted plants but I need to put more thinking into it and I can't do anything until I pick up the crap in my room and get my general clutter under control.

The boys were both hopping-out-of-water excited to see me home again tonight. A particularly special behavior from Yozak. He was very excited to see me. I am appropriately honored. They don't like my mom as much, I don't think she plays with them. But either way, the boys recognize when fish-dad has left and returned!

A better picture of my fish. Wincott on the left, Yozak on the right. So far, both are doing good. Wincott even ate some last night and this morning, which I think is a really good sign, since all my other bettas have taken a couple days before eating.

New betta in the 10 gallon. Crowntail, mostly white but I think he may fill with dark color. I'm naming him Wincott. I love his tail.
