sorry to get into your reblogs like the little freak that i am but i also read that the german localization was supervised by yuriko nagata and differs from the other translations bc of it... so in german ignis is even more adamant... shouting, "he's suffered enough! the cost is too high! i will never allow for noct to sacrifice his life for us! i will do everything i can to change his fate!"

and if you pair that with the game's main theme of like... unavoidable destiny and prophecies that all come true, and knowing that all characters are highly aware of these things, including ignis, i think it makes his devotion even more powerful

and if that's not enough, then later when noctis finds him he questions that destiny itself (the gods that they serve as well) he says "why was i picked by some fate? why does it keep taking my loved ones from me? i'm not letting some 'destiny' steal anyone else from me", ultimately later replacing the 10 years later line in english that says "stand tall, friends" with "remember, friends, we choose our own fate"

love and devotion and friendship that transcends duty and destiny and all of that yknow how it is...

#ah the ignoct that changed my life tbh #sorry abt the insane rant op! sorry abt the rant my respected blog whomst i follow #but the game's main theme being accepting your destiny... #the dlc's defiance of doing so... #the localization highlighting how much ignis and then after him noct decide to distance themselves from the very fate they both know theyre #gonna meet #like ignis knows and he sees what will happen to noct and as advisor he should be prepared for it #but in the german dub they made ignis so ANGRY #he isnt politely apologizing to gladio and prompto for the radio silence in the first act #he snaps at them when they try to reprimand him #off radio he is sniffling and holding back sobs while they cant hear him #i have had ignis brainrot for a good few years i apologize #bean goose beloved.. #there is something about the rage and finality that ignis delivers those lines with tbh #like wym you wont 'allow' it... #man is fully taking charge
