So in a way, is there a difference between headcanoning frisk/chara as girls or boys and headcanoning them as trans/nonbinary if it's all headcanon in the end anyway and everyone is equally wrong?

yes there's a difference because arbitrarily deciding that canon established neutrality is something that you get to override and is automatically more "debatable" than a character being established as male or female is a very obvious double standard.

interpreting them as nonbinary is only a way to translate their neutrality while assuming that the rest of their race thinks of gender as we do in real life. it doesn't change anything about how the character is referred to. rather, it preserves it. headcanoning them as a boy or a girl throws aside their neutrality entirely as irrelevant and "arbitrary". for what. YOUR discomfort?

while i might not think the characters in the text itself are trans, this attitude REALLY speaks to people's ignorance and weirdness around trans people in real life. because outside the game, real gender neutral people exist and they ARE, of course, transgender. someone who has gender neutral and nonbinary friends and is normal about it is not going to scramble to immediately fit any neutral characters back into the gender binary like a fucking 5 year old. because for someone who isn't transphobic, neutrality is just another way for human beings to exist.

anyway how many gendered characters are there out there? how many textually neutral ones, to compare? go play with another one of your billions of toys, if not retconning an entire character is sow hawd fow u

Did some soft redesigns of Stringbean and Flapjack, just because I thought making em look more weird and less cutesy would've helped with TOH's tone (also feathery Stringbean and enantiornithine Flapjack are vibes)

Stringbean takes inspiration from ball pythons (general form as a whole), burrowing asps (fangs), caracals (ears), and Tianyulong (feathers + "quill" feathers)

Flapjack is mostly based on Mirarce but I tried to keep as much of the cardinal aspect of his design as I could, even to the point of passerine wing-folding which isn't seen in most birds

Minilla might be failing miserably but Kim is still a very proud [insert guardian adjacent term]! Not shown: Kim being held back by Aubrey, Kel, and Mincy after trying to step on Minilla's tail to get him to spew proper atomic breath (they watched Son of Godzilla and didn't think about the implications)

This was a doodle that took around less than an hour during some school event so it's rather scruffy, but I'm still proud of it.

Happy 200th birthday, Megalosaurus! Seems you're feeling philosophical today!

I completely improvised the monologue and rushed the doodle, so if it looks a bit less furnished than it should be...that's because it is. Ehe. Whoops...

200 years.

200 years since I'd reawoken.

200 years of the others reawakening.

200 years since I'd been able to think.

200 years since I was given a name, and I found myself here again, once more.

200 years since those funny little mammals grew fascinated with me, and my kin.

...I'm not sure what to think, frankly.

I'm still not used to being able to think at all.

Sometimes I rest here though, next to this endearing attempt of an effigy. To think.

These 200 years have made quite the impact. One I have...long since faded to the background of.

But that's okay, I believe. I did my part. The torch must always pass on.

200 years since this all began. Perhaps there will be another 200. For now, I am content in thinking here, to pass the time.
