I don't like posting this type of stuff but this is really important, I'm trying to help my mom reach this goal, our storage is due tomorrow and it holds all of our family memories and items, and we cannot afford to loose this, as well this can help us maybe get money for food and or rent. Despite the depressing state of things, I got an amazing character to do as a commission yesterday. Excited to work with it, and I have to remind myself of the little delights.

It is VERY defeating putting in multiple job applications and being told "thank you for submitting your application, at this time we are looking for someone else " blah blah blah.

I miss being able to write effectively, satisfyingly. Can hardly get through a sentence without my brain stalling. The want is there, and I even have the time to RP and write individual stories. but the block is so frustrating.

📚 How many layers do you typically use?

At least 2 for even the most basic sketch. But it fully depends on the nature of the art I'm drawing and the density of the detail. A simple sketch could be no more than 2 in the digital space, and a fully lined piece with shading and color can range from 3-15 different layers, with my experimentation in background details adding 2-4 more layers. I also tend to add more layers when I want to try something new or just see how something looks, then delete said layer if I don't like the result. It's an organized kind of chaos. Until I start forgetting what layer is for what. Sometimes naming the layers doesn't help me! Hahha!

i know that "unalive" is part of larger worrying trend of self censorship but if you really are in a situtation where you have to avoid the words "die" or "kill" the english language already has centuries worth of much better euphemisms. the iconic and perennial "six feet under"? the lovely imagery of "pushing up daisies"? "shuffle off this mortal coil"????? literally anything from the monty python dead parrot bit???? you have so many options. please try to be more creative at least

I feel like a big part of enjoying life is being able to get excited over the truly small things, like having a fruit you like, wearing your fave socks, the smell of rain or the way light comes through your window.

When my anxiety got very severe last year, the thing that made life worth it was those tiny little things, which became tremendously important when I wasn’t well enough to really do anything or go anywhere for a year. A brown egg, some cute stickers, a wildflower my neighbour brought me on the way home from a party, seeing the weather change every day, watching the birds from my window… It’s happiness in miniature, and deserves some attention.

Though absorbing more about doing full illustrations and learning techniques that work for me is nice, I'm over the moon to return to doing portraits again. Love focusing all the expression into a face. Scratches the niche place in my brain.
