It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where a visitor may see animals in the same super abundance as existed a century ago. Explore this part of the Northern Serengeti Ecosystem where the great wildebeest migration takes place. The plain is literally covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are commonplace. The migration, now declared the Seventh Wonder of the World takes place from end July to September. Soak in the abundance of untamed wilderness, fresh and natural scenery, filled with exotic wildlife during our expertly guided game drives enjoyed in open vehicles. Renowned for its magnificent Big Cat population that hunt the wildebeest, zebra and other plains game that dominate the Mara, it has even been nicknamed the "Kingdom of the Lions". Finding a pride of lions (there are some 400 lions resident in the reserve and neighboring conservancies) is normally relatively easy – and high on most visitors’ must-see lists. Leopards are also seen increasingly often, and good sightings of cheetahs can be expected. Other predators regular seen throughout the reserve and conservancies include fascinating spotted hyenas (rarely bothered by human observers and compelling in their social interactions) black-backed and side-striped jackals, and cute pairs of bat-eared foxes. With luck, you may also see a Serval – a lanky, striped and spotted cat of tall grass and bush, adept at catching small mammals and birds. The most rear predator of the Maasai Mara, the wild dog, is a beautiful, nomadic pack animal. At one time almost extinct in the region, one or two packs (and what appear to be smaller scouting parties of two or three individuals) are being seen in many areas, though still not on a regular basis. Return to the Lodge for Dinner and overnight.
Main Destination: Masai Mara National Reserve
Accommodation: Mara Sopa Lodge
Mid-range Lodge located Just outside of Masai Mara Game reserve
Meals & Drinks: Breakfast,Lunch & dinner (Drinks not included)

Day 4: Masai mara
After breakfast, full day game viewing in Maasai mara which offers absolutely unique variety of animals. The reason being that this hilly region is both humid and fertile and is crossed by Mara and Talek rivers full of crocodiles and hippos. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons maasai mara has greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa.
Masai Mara National Reserve is considered Kenya’s best park and one of Africa’s highest wildlife density regions for predators. The reserve covers 583 square miles (1510 square kilometers) of outstanding wilderness in southwest Kenya. The location, wildlife, activities and comfortable moderate climate puts Mara at the top of the list when the public reserve was first established; accommodate Maasai cattle grazing on their ancestral lands. Although the decrease in land area may be considered a letdown for wildlife conservation and protection at its infancy, the animals and habitats of the reserve found new allies to ensure their survival for generations to come. Many private conservancies have been introduced to protect the land that surrounds the reserve, thereby providing more area for wildlife. The lands not only protect habitats for resident species, but also preserve a critical part of the route used by wildebeests and zebras.
You will be driven by the river which is a great place to spot wildlife. This area is a photographer delight where with any luck you will be able to take amazing pictures of the hippos and crocodiles in the water. The small size funnels animals into a tight space; park rules allows for off road driving which means that guests can venture into plains with hundreds and thousands of animals. Return to the lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

CULTURAL JOURNEYS WITH THE BIG FIVE WILD IN KENYA
A truly massive continent comprising over 20% of the planet’s available land, Africa is home to the world’s largest desert, its longest river, its hottest temperatures, and hundreds of dialects and cultures spread among a billion people. | But as mind-boggling as it seems at first, you’ll be amazed how intimate it feels once you get to know it. This is adventure’s last great frontier. | Connect with one of our planners today to request your custom Africa Safari adventure. Day 1
Pick up from your hotel at 8 am and driven to Amboseli National Park arriving in good time for lunch. Amboseli National Park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro at 5896 meters, is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle hippo and wildebeest.
Day 2
Full day in Amboseli with game drives in the morning and afternoon to explore the park and have magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. View large herds of elephants, renowned to be residents of this park. Amboseli is popular with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and reliably good elephant viewing. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands. You can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.
Day 3
After breakfast depart via Nairobi to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake located on the Great Rift Valley Floor. You will arrive in good time for lunch and siesta. You will then enjoy a scenic sunset boat cruise to see the hippos and walk on Crescent Island among wildlife, herbivores only. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, buffalo wallow in the swamps and colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lake’s large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows.
Day 4
Drive to Lake Nakuru (120 km – 1 hour 30 minutes). Enjoy game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park for game viewing drives. It is a shallow alkaline lake where visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity with varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Game drive is the main activity at Lake Nakuru. Foragers, grazers, hunters and scavengers all play their roles in the natural existence of Nakuru. The park also has over 450 birds species including the flamingos.
Day 5
Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. Masai Mara National Reserve is a pristine wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life and the unprecedented opportunity of catching up with all the members of the 'Big Five' in one morning. The 1,800 sq kilometers of this veteran reserve offers the classic mix of African imagery; miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a meandering river, acres of thorn-bush and mile upon mile of undulating wilderness.
Day 6
Full day in the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. You can also take optional balloon safari at $420 per person or visit a local Maasai village at $25 per person. The reserve offers one of the best opportunities to see cheetah and lions in Africa. A visit to this reserve in July will allow you the best chance to witness and watch firsthand as thousands of wildebeest migrate across the swollen crocodile infested Mara River. This is one of nature’s greatest wildlife spectacles, the wildebeest migration, reaches Masai Mara.
Day 7
An early dawn game viewing being the very best time to see the cats at hunt and also get to see the sunrise. You then drive back to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Make a return journey back to Nairobi by road (300 km - approximately 6 hours), or optional extra fly from the Masai Mara to Nairobi ($210 per person). You will have time for shopping and optional dinner on own plans. Drop off at the airport for your flight departure back home after a wonderful Kenya safari tour.
