So the second week of December, I ordered some food from Doordash and the person delivering my food texted me that he couldn't get in using the call box. So I decided that I would meet him out at the front gate. As I left my apartment and started walking towards the front gate, a piece of concrete had eroded enough to miss it in the dark. I picked up my food and re-entered my apartment, set the food on the counter, and went to the bathroom to check the extent of my injuries. To my surprise, just a few scrapes at the moment but the area I was the most concerned about was my thigh, I stripped off the pants I was wearing and thankfully found no blood or any open wounds, just a really sore area and so I went about my business.

Two weeks go by and I am in the shower and all of a sudden my thigh, which is now blue and purple, starts really hurting me. I let my mom know and she said for now just watch it so I kept an eye on it until January 3rd at which point it was determined that I needed to go to the ER to at least have everything looked at. We went to Methodist in The Woodlands and they checked me over completely diagnosed me with a 9.9 x 9.9 cm Hematoma and sent me home with some meds... So I get home and I keep an eye on it and everything is fine until Super Bowl Sunday.

Somehow, some way my turtle shell or baseball has opened up and started leaking yellow fluid. This tells me that something isn't right and so I make an appointment with my brand new PCP and we go to the appointment and as soon as I unwrap the area, she grimaces and right away without any questions being asked says that I need to see the surgeon. Hematomas are supposed to heal in between 1 and 4 weeks by re-absorbing inside the body, this wasn't happening so an appointment was made for me to see the surgeon today, Sunday afternoon I went to get an ultrasound because there was no fluid leaking from my Hematoma in January when we went to the ER, so the surgeon wanted to compare and that's what happened today.

The result of my visit today is that on Thursday afternoon, I will be having an outpatient surgical procedure. This procedure is just the beginning of my road to healing from this thing. I will have to endure two weeks of drainage on the area and then after that, it could take anywhere from two to six months for the area to heal entirely. If you are the praying kind, I would appreciate any prayers and/or good thoughts on Thursday afternoon. This is the first time I have gone through anything like this and it's weighing heavy on my mind at the moment, I just want to get better.
