actually i think i could argue that ichiban's embarrassing fumble WAS out of character since

there was no build up at all to this romance. i can't recall any scene in y7 where the two of them had specifically romantic chemistry (at least. not any MORE than he had with the rest of the ichigang. there's a reason i was initially confused but not upset about this pairing -- he had as much chemistry with her as he did with nanba or zhao or joongi or eri)

at this point in time ichiban has been friends with saeko for YEARS. and ichiban is like. the greatest friendguy in history. he's thoughtful and attentive and kind. how could he NOT know how to act around her and not anticipate or at least think of her feelings? i can understand that most of his life so far had been spent in prison so he's not aware of every social convention and cue but that's never stopped him before from having some kind of sharp intuition about people and social situations

ok we're gonna do a little hashtag throwback thursday today. this was like a year ago when i just got lost judgment.

there's this substory where at one point tak goes "oh i need someone to sniff something out for me. there's only one guy i can count on for that!". and for some reason i was 100% convinced he was talking about KAITO. and you can't leave the office the substory takes place in without doing the thing first. i then spent a solid 2 minutes searching around the office and looking around in the menus looking for any way to call him or the office only to realize that. no. no he actually meant the dog

i only bring this up now because i finally got my hands on the kaito files last weekend (i've been waiting for a sale since foever..................) and discovered that kaito's investigation is just him sniffing well and hearing well.

i wasn't even that far off man. he COULD'VE done it probably maybe. big nose big ears he could have done anything ranpo could have done better man i was onto something probably maybe kinda i guess sorta

actually the worst takes for any sega owned property come from yakuza.

there’s a ton of themes surrounding how you can always make steps to improve yourself and atone for past actions, start over, and find reasons to live no matter how difficult life gets.

but if your take away from any of the games is organized crime is cool or that the series is about romanticizing crime or just plain using it to fuel the fetishization of japan/japanese culture please don’t play any game about morally questionable things or anything from japan ever again.
