Hey there! I'm Jo and welcome to my self-ship blog (formerly sanjis-soulmate)! I am 25 years of age, which to the youngsters here probably seems like I'm 50 or something. It's fine, they'll learn eventually. You can read more about me on my carrd!

I've been a self-shipper since middle school. In fact, my first ever crush was a Yu-Gi-Oh! character back when I was 11 or 12! So I've been at this for a long time. I found the Tumblr self-ship community by chance back in 2019 and figured this would be a chill place for me to make friends that get me instead of talking my non-self-shipping friends' ears off. I've had a few ups and downs here since then, but I'm back and hoping to have a better experience now that I'm in a better place! Hope to make some friends!

Anyhow, my F/O list! Let's talk about that! Gonna focus on the main ones here, you can see the rest here! Gonna throw this part under a read more so this post isn't stupidly long.

Starting with Osomatsu! He's my primary F/O right now (and will stay that way for a long time), and I don't really feel comfortable sharing him. I don't mind interacting with someone who ships with him if it's an inactive ship, but if you really like him then I'm gonna have to ask you to go. (Side note: My friends and I call my ship with him Joso)

Next is Matt Holt, yes the one from Voltron. I love him. Don't care if VLD sucked, he was the best part of it to me. I'm mildly uncomfortable sharing him but can deal with it if I can block a tag! (My friends and I don't really have a name figured out for my ship with Matt, but sometimes we call it Jatt)

Moving on, we've got Saeyoung, or 707, from Mystic Messenger. He's so. He's sooooo. I love him sm. Also iffy about sharing him but, once again, if it's something I can ignore easily then I'm probably alright. (We call this ship Jo7, like the salute emote o7)

nothing feels as amazing as knowing your f/o would be SO into you and knowing you're so into them. like the two of you giggling over how much you love each other. buying/making gifts for each other. doing the most to impress the other because youre so in love and you just want to be with them.

imagine holding your f/o tight, letting them bury their face in your neck, knowing their scent, how they feel in your arms, so wholly and completely you feel like you melt together, them knowing that they're safe in your hands

a lot of people say "your f/o loves you" without really going into the gravity of that.

think about how you feel about your f/o. the sometimes sky-high euphoria, sometimes gut wrenching feeling over them. and everything in between.

your f/o doesnt just love you. they feel all of that. they feel the exact same way as you do toward them. i mean that completely. they feel the exact same passion and depth toward you as you do toward them. its entirely mutual. theres no imbalance here. i dont care who you are or who your f/o is. they feel the EXACT SAME way about you. just think about that for a minute. let that sink in. they feel the same. i can't emphasize this enough. however you feel, they feel the same.

Friendly reminder that it is COMPLETELY NORMAL to feel extremely attached to/have intense feelings for fictional characters.

The human brain cannot differentiate the feelings and attachments we have to irl people from the feelings and attachments we have to fictional characters. Chemically, the feelings are the exact same

More to the point, if a character you love ever gets hurt or god forbid dies, it is absolutely normal to feel genuine grief and hurt because of it. As far as the chemicals in your brain are concerned, you genuinely just watched your friend/partner/family member get hurt.

Your feelings are valid and normal.

not to call all young people snowflakes or anything but i do think a lot of people are soooo averse to anything that makes them uncomfortable (and tend to conflate things that make them uncomfortable with being problematic) and that’s why we have all this dumb sex scene discourse and grown adults who only watch kids stuff and nostalgia-bait and why hollywood is refusing to release anything interesting (because if it makes people uncomfy they won’t make $$$). and it’s so sad like sometimes a piece of art does make you sick to your stomach or make you jump out of your skin or make you weep or turn you on. and that’s a beautiful wonderful thing!!! that’s what art is for!! to let you access all sorts of crazy emotions you can’t access in boring everyday life!!! that’s what makes you feel human!!
