#18: Speeding Up.

This week, I'm hunting for for simple art challenge for engagement and speed practice. And continuing my commission work.

This is OC by @juicydemon. They did a DTIYS challenge that I partake. Now I'm looking for my challenges like this.

Last week I did murgotten and this is juicydemon. I noticed that my recent output for art is way too slow for my taste. I'm fine actually with being slow but now this slow. So I thought I should challenge myself with these kind of stuff. Bit selfish since I'm doing it for likes and retweets but I did it to counteract the feeling of having a lower quality output while I try to increase speed. Also helps for people to maybe even check my profile and see my recent art of Zelinks and such.

I prefer these kind of challenges since it hits an area of practice that I need to work on, the rendering part. Other one being drawing more dynamic poses, rendering takes long time for me. Most likely because I can't properly get it internalize since my rendering skill are practiced way too far apart. But I am getting there.

Now I'm scouring twitter for a similar challenge again.

In other news, I have taken another commission from previous client. This time I recommended them a comic. I ask them what kind of thing they want this time and they gave me ideas to work with. I wanted to do more lover dovey kind of things since those are the works I enjoy most.

Like how they're characters interact and they're personalities and such. They told me a details and the only thing that I came up in my mind was a comic. So now I'm doing that.

Emergency sale, but I'm trying to make it fun for my mental health lol.

Opening 30 special discount commission slots because I like monthly draw every day type challenges, and finishing an art piece a day has been helping me cope with my not so great situation atm. These slots will be for my artistic freedom style commissions (original info here / deviantArt post) discounted to $15 - where I'll draw your OC based on some general themes or vibes you'd like, or a pet/animal portrait sketch commission from a photo reference. Or alternatively a custom design (original info here) discounted to $10 - where I'll create a custom design based on your prompts, preferences and/or moodboards.

Payment is upfront via paypal invoice and the turnaround for these will be same day/1 day depending on the time of order and how many slots get taken around the same time. I'm not expecting these to get claimed super fast, but if they do I intend to complete one a day - I'll keep everyone up to date on what the situation may be. Since these are done pretty quick, there won't be any WIPs sent, but I may be able to do minor adjustments.

I had way too much fun doing this for OhCats Chimera Contest (it's still ongoing til at least 31st of May, so go check it out!) The vibes in the moodboards were some of my favourite aesthetics so I had some trouble deciding which direction to go with this, but in the end I wanted to try something more stylised, inspired by the heraldic beasts, plus a little bit of art nouveau <3 I was also a little self indulgent with all the eye imagery haha! The concept for this one had been sitting in my WIPs for a good long while now, so glad I finally finished it!

This was originally based on one of those "let's build an OC" memes, but I ended up going with whatever first fit the prompt through a google image search.

I just had to partake in this wonderful DTIYS, not only is this such a sweet character, it's also a topic close to my heart. Being able to feel more at home in your body and feeling the joy in finally recognising yourself is just so important. I'm almost 3 years post op now and the magic still hasn't worn off <3

Something else from my WIP pile! The sketch for this was so old, I think I made it at the beginning of this campaign, back when Shen's first design featured a hat - originally this was supposed to be these two bonding over headwear haha. A lot has changed in that time, and now this is them having a chat at The Tits tavern, probably back before the party lost their memories. The Great and Magnificent Trickster is my elvish warlockwizard and Shen is Juicy's dragonborn monk <3
