I wonder if there will be a chapter 11 for Protector? đŸ„ș
I genuinely don’t know at the moment... I have the rest of the story planned out but chapter 10 only got very few likes compared to the other chapters so I feel like people didn’t really enjoy it There definitely will be more chapters but I can’t say when exactly my motivation will be back so I have to ask everyone to be patient :/  - Admin Soomi

Protector | Chapter 10
Tumblr media
Protector Masterlist
Summary: Yesterday’s events have your thoughts wildly racing through your brain and if that wasn’t enough, your father brings back someone you never wanted to see again.
Word Count: 2472 A/N: So, ummm, it’s been a year, I know. But I’ve recently gotten quite a lot of messages asking me to update because the cliffhanger was a really mean move on my part, I’m sorry! Either way, happy holidays to everyone and I hope you enjoy this small gift from me!  - Admin Soomi Warnings: /
When you woke up the next morning, your head felt like it was going to explode. The night hadn’t been exactly  restful, you just couldn’t seem to fall asleep after yesterday’s events. Your thoughts kept going back and forth between your current life situation trapped as the heir to your father’s business and the tension between you and your bodyguard that had made itself very clear. Donghae was a mystery to you. If that was even his real name. It wasn’t like you actually knew anything about that man. How old was he? Where did he come from? Did he have family? All you knew was that he was an arrogant ass with a lot of strength and wits despite not looking like it. He had a way of constantly getting on your nerves but still gave you a weird sense of comfort. Why did you end up with this strange attraction towards him that was impossible to deny at this point?
You weren’t even sure what kind of attraction this was. Was it platonic? For the first time in ages, it seemed like someone genuinely cared about you. You felt like you could trust him and with him being your bodyguard, he naturally knew a variety of your secrets. He’d seen different sides of you. Even though you argued and bantered a lot, he knew when to draw the line. It had begun to feel like a friendship but was there more? Did you want more? Something else? There was some kind of sexual attraction as well, that was obvious to you. He was attractive, that was a fact. You hated to admit it, but your thoughts couldn’t help but wander to indecent things at the memory of how his abs felt under your touch. Yous shook your head in annoyance. No, not now. If you kept thinking about it, you wouldn’t be able to keep a composed demeanor around him anymore. Was there romantic attraction as well? Maybe. All you knew was that your heart skipped a beat when you thought back to how you had almost kissed yesterday. And that you wished you had actually kissed. Maybe all of these factors somehow played into it. Whatever it was, thinking about it too much and trying to find a word for it was driving you crazy.
The maid that knocked and asked to enter your room to serve you a fresh cup of tea was a welcome distraction from your racing thoughts. Not so welcome was the message from your father that she brought. I’m expecting you in the entrance hall in 30 minutes, dress nicely and behave for once.    The second you read his note, you decided that you would absolutely not behave, whatever it was that he had planned for you. You had a bad feeling about what was to come. For a few moments, you also contemplated simply putting on sweatpants as your father hadn’t specified what occasion to dress nicely for, but that would have been overkill. Donghae greeted you right outside your door with a lazy wave and as much as your mind wanted to go back to yesterday’s events, you were more occupied with the look on his face. He didn’t give you the usual smirk, you didn’t even get any playful remarks about your hairstyle of choice, instead he seemed quiet. Too quiet. “What’s up with you this morning? Aren’t you going to tell me that I look like a racoon because of the bags under my eyes?” A small smile threatened to form on his lips but it was quickly washed away by the sigh leaving his mouth. “You look more like a panda because the rest of your face is awfully pale but I won’t be making any comments. You’ll have enough trouble today, trust me. You’re not going to like what your father has in store for you. And neither will I.” The last part was muttered under his breath and you almost missed it. You didn’t even need to ask your bodyguard what exactly he was talking about as you had already reached the entrance of the mansion and were greeted by the sight of the one person you had never ever wanted to see again. Hwang Kyuseok. The man your father apparently still wanted you to marry. “Okay, so here’s the plan. I’m going to pretend to collapse, you carry me to our physician and bribe him to pronounce me dead. Then you help me escape to Peru where I can start a new life under a new name. How does that sound?”, you whispered to Donghae but he put a hand on your lower back to gently lead you forward. “Pretty good except for the part where I apparently have enough money to bribe Dr. Choi.” “It doesn’t have to be money, you could-” just as you were about to present Donghae with the alternative of selling his body, Kyuseok spotted you. “Well, if it isn’t my lovely wife. I haven’t seen you ever since that incident but you seem as lively as ever,” the young man said with the most disgusting grin you had ever seen a human being produce as he slowly walked towards you. “I don’t remember us getting married let alone engaged so do not call me your wife.” “Did I not tell you to behave?” Your father had appeared behind Kyuseok and went to stand next to him. “You’ll be getting married next week, so you might want to get used to being called his wife.” “I have told you plenty of times that you do not get to marry me to a stranger. I refuse. I will not be marrying him.” “And I have told you plenty of times that I simply do not care. You’ve been acting like a brat recently, so I contacted Mr. Hwang and he agreed to proceed with the marriage as soon as possible. Maybe this will put some sense into you. You don’t have a choice in this matter.” Kyuseok is a respectable young man and he knows how to handle a woman who is acting up and forgot where her place is.” Your father left and your heart sank. He was really doing this. He was 100% serious and no matter how hard you tried to fight back, it was useless. Maybe you could really escape and move to the other end of the world. But knowing your father’s influence and contacts, he would catch you before you could even leave the city. You’d go along with it for now but there was no way you’d accept this. If everything failed, you’d at least make sure to make this marriage a living hell for your husband.
Kyuseok stood in front of you and took your hand, earning him a death stare from Donghae that you didn’t notice, as you were too occupied with keeping yourself from lashing out. “Let’s go eat breakfast, my love.”
------
“Where would you like to go for our honeymoon?” Breakfast had been quiet so far, at least on your part. Kyuseok had bombarded you with his ideas for the wedding and you found out that essentially everything had been planned already. Not only were you forced into this, you didn’t even get any say in what your wedding would look like. Even the wedding dress had already been chosen. “You’re asking my opinion? Very considerate. Paris sounds good.” “A very classic choice. And very romantic.” “Exactly. Let’s visit the catacombs, maybe I can lose you in there. Or I can just yeet myself off the Eiffel Tower when you’re not looking.” You heard a snicker from Donghae, who had silently been standing in the corner of the room and tried to cover up his mishap by clearing his throat. Kyuseok simply ignored you. “Prague or Madrid would also be lovely places to visit but Paris it is. We should also start conceiving children as soon as possible to secure a heir to our families' businesses. You almost choked on your omelette. “Yeah, that is not happening. Marrying you is bad enough but this is where I draw the line. I will not let you anywhere near me.” He sighed. “I really don’t blame your father for wanting you to move in with us right after the wedding. You are indeed quite a handful. But as I said before, I am sure I can tame you.” “Good luck with that. You won’t tame me unless I develop Stockholm syndrome.” “You’re feisty.” “And you’re a creep. Excuse me for a second.” You quickly left the room, headed for nowhere in particular, just anywhere as far away as possible. It felt kind of ironic when, after a few minutes of mindlessly wandering the halls, you laid eyes on a small storage room and followed your instinct to hide in it. Just in case Kyuseok had been following you. You were physically shaking from the emotions building up inside of you. Anger, frustration, helplessness, panic. You name it. You sank to the floor and let silent tears run down your cheeks.
Maybe you should really just run away. Not like your father would let you. Even if you escaped at night, knowing that most of the night guards regularly slept during their shifts, there was no doubt your father’s men would find you. And if they didn’t, he would send Donghae, and there was nowhere you could hide from him. He knew you too well by now.
The door to your hiding spot opened a creak. Speaking of the devil.
Donghae fully opened the door, took one look at your crying form and opted to sit on the floor right next to you after closing the door again for some privacy. Of course he’d find you. Not that it bothered you. “I don’t think I’d survive one week being married to that weirdo,” you complained. “I don’t think he’d survive even one week. You’re gonna kill him after three days. Maximum.” A dry chuckle escaped your lips. “Can you show me how to make it look like an accident?” “I’ll lend you one of my handbooks.” Silence settled between the two of you for a few seconds while you tried to dry your tears. It all seemed hopeless. “What will you do once I’ve married him? I doubt Kyuseok will have you come with me to his mansion. That man gives you that death stare like every 20 minutes. I bet it’s because you’re more handsome than him.” “I genuinely don’t know. Maybe your father will have me as his own bodyguard. Whatever will happen, believe me when I say that I am dreading it as much as you are.” “You’re a bodyguard...if anything, you should be glad this job is over and you could move on to a better paying client. I’ve seen what my father pays you and sometimes I’m surprised you’re still here.” “You make me seem like a heartless monster. I care a lot more than you may think. That’s why I’m still here.” You raised an eyebrow. “How much?” “What?” “How much do you care?” Instead of answering, Donghae proceeded to get up. He dusted off his clothes and held out his hand for you to take. He pulled you up and reached for the doorknob. “You didn’t answer my question. How much do you care?”, you pushed for a reaction. “Way more than I should”, he muttered under his breath, avoiding your eyes. He went to turn the doorknob but you put your hand on top of his to stop him. Your other hand reached up to grab the collar of his shirt and pull him closer so your faces were mere inches apart. “Then tell me...do you care enough to kiss me?” Your voice was barely above a whisper, your breath hot on his skin.
Donghae didn’t need to be asked twice. His free hand cupped your face as he leaned in and his lips found yours. They were so much softer than you could have ever imagined. He was careful at first, but quickly deepened the kiss when you didn’t back away. It lasted only a few seconds yet felt like an eternity. You hated how your first intent was to tease him with your question and see his reaction but the kiss just proved that, just like him, you cared way too much. You still didn’t know what exactly those feelings were that drew you to him but it just felt...right. Like it was meant to be.
Donghae slowly pulled away from the kiss and took your hands in his. “I don’t know why but the thought of him being with you, touching you, kissing you...it makes me furious. It makes me want to vomit. I can’t stand it.” “Then help me get out of this somehow. If you can. Please.” His heart felt like it was getting torn apart when you looked at him with pleading eyes that were still puffy from crying. He wanted nothing more than to help you, he really did. “I’ll try to figure something out but I can’t promise anything.” For a second, you saw a hint of guilt flash in his eyes. You thought it was because of his loyalty to your father. He’d most likely have to betray him if he wanted to support you, it’d put his life on the line as well. Little did you know, Donghae’s thoughts were conflicted for a completely different reason.
---
“There will be a wedding ceremony a week from now. Not only will our target family be attending but also the famous Hwang family. If we attack then, it’ll be like killing two birds with one stone,” Donghae reported. “That’s fantastically convenient. Do you know where the wedding will be held? If not, find out and send us the layout of the place. We’ll provide you with a detailed plan 24 hours before the event.” “I’ll make sure to get as much information as possible.” “Great, you’re dismissed.” After finishing the phone call, Donghae felt like punching a wall. Guilt flooded his mind. He had lied to you, this whole time. He had put on an act, played the perfect, sassy, but loveable bodyguard. He had faked his undying loyalty. Yet he hadn’t been able to lie about his feelings. That kiss, it had been nothing but the truth. He never meant for things to develop the way they did. And now he was stuck in this dilemma. He had to follow orders, your family had to be taken down but couldn’t bear to see you go down with your father. You had nothing to do with this. He had to figure something out and he’d be damned if he couldn’t come up with a solution.

ATEEZ Reaction || You call him in the middle of the night
Tumblr media
>>> HONGJOONG <<<
You had a pretty bad day and when you come home from your shift, you badly need to talk and maybe vent to someone.
You try calling Hongjoong but he doesn’t pick up. You give up after about three tries, remembering that he’s probably in the studio and his phone is either on silent, airplane more, or completely shut off.
He calls you back as soon as he takes a break and checks his phone for the first time in hours.
You playfully scold him, telling him that he shouldn’t be up this late since he’s got a schedule early in the morning, in a few hours. But you also understand that once he’s got an idea stuck in his head, he simply can’t rest until it’s written down.
You confess that you haven’t had a very good day and despite his work, he’ll take the time to listen to you.
Hongjoong rambles about his own day afterwards to take your mind off of your issues. He’ll talk about what he’s working on and ask your opinion on a few things before urging you to go to sleep, promising he’ll be home with you soon.
>>> SEONGHWA <<<
When his phone starts ringing on the nightstand, he stirs almost immediately.
He’s a little disorientated at first but as soon as he sees your name on the display, he’s wide awake.
Seonghwa is super confused and very, very worried. You never called him this late - or this early - before. Did something happen? Were you hurt? Did you get into an accident? The wildest scenarios run through his head in the few seconds it takes for him to reach the phone and accept the call.
“What’s up? Are you okay?”  When you hear the worry in his voice, you instantly feel bad for contacting him. You beat around the bush for a while, feeling embarrassed about the reason you were calling.
“I just wanted to hear your voice...”
After hearing your words, he sighs in relief and lets out a small chuckle.
Even though Seonghwa is really tired, he talks about his day for a while and will even sing you a lullaby, if you ask nicely.
>>> YUNHO <<<
It takes quite a while for him to wake up and realize what exactly is going on. He spends a few minutes searching for his phone, almost missing your call.
His voice sounds hoarse and drowsy when he picks up and asks what’s up, making you feel bad for waking him up.
“So, uhm. I’ve got a small problem. No. A big one, actually.”
He forces himself to sit up straight and focus on your words despite still being half-asleep. “Which is?”
“There’s a bug in my bedroom. A huge one. Like, a moth the size of my head.”
Yunho lets out a small laugh, not because he’s making fun of you, but because he finds it absolutely adorable. He also feels kind of honored that your first instinct was to call him.
Even though it takes some convincing, he agrees to come over to save you from the vicious beast, secretly hoping you were just exaggerating when you described its size.
>>> YEOSANG <<<
You feel lonely. ATEEZ left to go on tour around two weeks ago and while you try to keep in contact, Yeosang is often very tired after performing or busy with oversea schedules.
Today, after an extremely stressful argument with your boss, you just need to hear your boyfriend’s voice, even if it’s only for a few seconds.
When he picks up the phone and drowsily asks if you know what time it is, it hits you. Somehow, you completely forgot about the time difference and that it was the middle of the night for him.
Yeosang playfully scolds you but he’s secretly very happy that you decided to call him, even if the timing wasn’t the best.
He talks a little about the concert, keeping his voice as quiet as possible so he doesn’t wake up his roommate.
You end up talking for almost an hour when he realizes that he has to get up soon and has to end the call, but you’re more than thankful for the time you got to have with him.
>>> SAN <<<
San is utterly confused when he wakes up to the personalized ringtone he set for you. It’s 2am and you had met just a few hours earlier, was everything alright?
“What’s up, love?”, he asks, trying to sound as awake as possible even though he could barely keep his eyes open.
“I’m sorry for calling you in the middle of the night... but I had a nightmare and I can’t fall back asleep.”
He tries to comfort you, even offering to come over but you decline, knowing that he’d have to get up early and you didn’t want to inconvenience him even more.
His comforting words turn into mindless talks about literally anything that could distract you but he’s so tired that he ends up falling asleep in the middle of the conversation. Lucky for him, the same thing happens on the other end of the line.
>>> MINGI <<<
The sound of thunder and the flickering night sky wake you up abruptly.  Instinctively, you reach for your phone and dial your boyfriend’s number.
Mingi blindly tries to find his phone, head still pressed into the pillow. The only sound greeting you is a barely audible “Mhm?”, indicating that he was fast asleep until know.
“Ah, did I wake you up? I’m sorry,” you quickly apologize but Mingi tells you not to worry and that he was awake anyway, even though that was a blatant lie. He just didn’t want you to feel bad.
“I know you don’t like thunderstorms, so I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” He smiles softly at your words.
The two of you talk about each other’s day, trying to distract and comfort the other through the loud noises outside. All the fear either of you had was washed away.
You talk for a long time, a few hours until the storm is over and both of you can go back to sleep peacefully.
>>> WOOYOUNG <<<
It’s the middle of the night and you want, no, you need cuddles. And you are willing to risk an annoyed or even angry Wooyoung to get them.
It takes a few minutes and two failed call attempts for him to wake up and pick up his phone.
He’s cranky and does not appreciate the fact that you woke him up. When you state your reasoning, he does soften up a little, though.
“I’ll give you a kiss if you come over and cuddle me.” “Meh.” “Two kisses?” “You got anything better?” “Fine, I’ll order pizza as well.” “I’m on my way, babe.”
There is no way in hell he would admit that he would have come over anyway. He craves affection just as much as you do and was genuinely glad you woke him up for a cuddle session.
>>> JONGHO <<<
Jongho doesn’t wake up by himself, Seonghwa comes over from the other room because he heard the phone ringing and shakes the maknae awake to have him pick up his call.
“I think there’s a ghost in my apartment.”
Once he’s awake, as awake as one can be at 3am, he listens intently.
A part of him desperately wants to tease you but when he hears in your voice that you’re genuinely scared, he stops himself and tries to take you seriously.
You explain what kind of paranormal events have been happening recently, and especially this night. He tries to give reasonable explanations but you refute all of them.  “It’s probably your neighbor walking around upstairs.” “She’s on vacation.”  “There could be mice in the walls.” “We had an exterminator here yesterday, he said everything was clean.”
He sighs, and even though he is definitely sleep-deprived, he decides to rush over to protect you.

° BESORGNIS UND ERLEICHTERUNG °
-> worry/concern and relief
“I understand that you’re nervous, sweetie. But please, you’ve got to eat at least a few bites.” Yeseul let the spoon circle around in her bowl of cereal, occasionally picking up a few pieces of her chocolate-flavored breakfast food and staring at them as if they were her biggest enemy, before lowering them back into the milk. Some people eat more when they’re stressed, some eat nothing at all. She belonged to the latter group. Three weeks had passed since she joined KQ Entertainment. Today was Saturday and the day of her first monthly evaluation. Yeseul felt like she would throw up as soon as any food entered her stomach.
She had heard her mother’s attempt at getting her to eat but decided to ignore it. “You’ve been practicing until late at night every single day. You’ve worked so hard, I’m sure you’ll be fine.” This time, she gave her mother an affirmative, but not very confident “mhm-mhm”. “I have to go now, I’ll see you tonight. You definitely need to get something in your stomach, you’ll only let your teammates down if you faint in the middle of the performance because your blood sugar is too low.” With those words and a gentle squeeze of her daughter’s shoulder, the older woman exited the apartment and left a silent trainee behind.
Even if she didn’t want to admit it, her mother was right. If she didn’t eat now, she wouldn’t have enough energy later and might become even more of a nuisance to her team. Yeseul slowly started eating a few bites of the now soggy cereal and after managing to finish half the bowl, she got ready and left for work.
The clock read 6:30 am when she entered the convenience store. “Noona! I haven’t seen you in quite a while!” Jinwoo immediately greeted her and she gave him a friendly wave. As she had started working the morning shifts right after joining the company and Jinwoo usually took shifts in the afternoon, they had only worked together once or twice. He had been extremely excited to find out that Yeseul had become a trainee and would not stop pestering her with questions throughout their shifts. She didn’t mind sharing her stories but always made sure that no customers were present when the topic shifted to her trainee life.
Her shift felt like it went on for ages, even though her colleague had kept her busy with all his inquiries, but at the same time she didn’t want it to end. She wasn’t ready. But around noon, she had to leave and  face the inevitable.
So many things had happened in these past three weeks. Her first classes had been interesting, to say the least. She always did well in singing class and felt herself easily catching up due to her already having taken vocal classes back in high school. Dancing classes were a different story. It was rough. Just as she had expected, everyone was way ahead of her and she had a hard time keeping up. Luckily, Jaehee had taken the time to give her some pointers and help with any questions about the choreographies. Her teachers were constantly scolding her but they had recognized her ambition during the first evaluations. But now, a big one was coming up. The monthly evaluation, where they had to sing while dancing.
Another trainee joined the agency a few days after Yeseul, making them eight female trainees in total, so they were split into two groups of four girls. She had gotten pretty close to all of the other trainees in the short time she’d been part of the company, they all got along. But there was one girl who was a mystery to her. Annie. The trainee who had given her the stink eye when Yeseul was asked to sing on her first day.
Annie was Korean but had grown up in America. She was a year younger than Yeseul, was tall and tanned, in general a very beautiful girl but had an awful personality, as far as the others could tell. Yeseul didn’t like to judge people quickly but she soon learned that Annie wasn’t here to make friends. She was here to outshine everyone else and make sure she debuts, no matter what it takes.
And with her luck, Yeseul had ended up in a group with her. Thankfully, she also had Jaehee with her and the youngest trainee, a 15-year-old named Miyoung. Each of the groups had to learn a song together without much help of the trainers. As they still had to normally attend their classes, they weren’t left with a lot of time to practice, so they split the work. Jaehee and Annie learned and taught the choreography and came up with a formation while Miyoung and Yeseul distributed the lines and helped everyone perfect their singing parts.
They spent a lot of time discussing their song choices but eventually settled on Peek-A-Boo by Red Velvet, which luckily got approved by the teachers. The dance wasn’t as difficult as some of the others she had learned so far but singing, and especially hitting the high notes while dancing, was even more difficult than she had expected. The others had shown her some breathing techniques but she still found herself having trouble keeping her voice stable by the end of the song.
Yeseul entered the agency and greeted the few staff members that she walked past on her way to the practice room. There, she was set to meet the other members of her group to run through the choreography again and work on some details. They had practiced until late at night every day, one time Yeseul came home at 3 am in the morning only to wake up for her shift at the convenience store two hours later. But all the hard work paid off. They were in sync and the others thought their performance looked quite impressive. Still, Yeseul felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb since her lack of dancing experience was very obvious. Jaehee had helped her tremendously, which she was extremely grateful for, but would it be enough?
Speaking of Jaehee, her and Miyoung were already busy practicing their steps when Yeseul entered the practice room. Annie was in a corner warming up her voice. When Jaehee laid her eyes on Yeseul, she immediately ran over and greeted the older girl with a warm hug. They had grown close recently. They had exchanged phone numbers on Yeseul’s first evening, after they exited the restaurant, and frequently texted when they were not practicing together. Almost every single day, if the other wasn’t occupied otherwise, they got together for lunch and sometimes dinner. Yeseul even went as far as to say that they had become best friends in only three weeks, judging by how well they got along despite spending so much time together. Jaehee’s bubbly personality always managed to cheer her up even on days when practice had been particularly stressful and exhausting. Though she wasn’t sure, if her friend’s happy character would help her today. Her nervousness was way too overwhelming, maybe not even Jaehee could lift her mood.
But at least, Yeseul wasn’t the only struggling with her nerves. While Annie and Jaehee seemed relatively relaxed, Miyoung was white as a sheet. She had been at KQ for a few months already but her last feedback hadn’t been very good so she was worried that this might be her last chance to prove that she had the talent and ambition to become an idol.
After 3 hours of practicing and fixing every little mistake they came across, the group had to go see their stylists.
“Ah, I can’t wait to see what they have come up with this time! You’ll be surprised, the stylists only have a very small budget and often re-use old outfits because it’s just an evaluation but they always come up with great things!” Jaehee excitedly clapped her hands together as they waited in the small dressing up. “I’m just praying that they won’t put us in heels. We really should have practiced that.” Considering that the original choreography was usually performed in heels, Miyoung’s interjection was more than valid.
When Yeseul saw herself in the elegant outfit (that was paired with flat boots, luckily) and dark makeup, she was speechless. Sure, she liked to dress up once in a while but it had never been done professionally. The difference was gigantic.
Out of the corner of her eye, Yeseul saw Jaehee staring at her with a scowl on her face. “What’s wrong?” “You look good. Probably even better than me. I’m not sure if I’m ready to accept that.” Yeseul half-heartedly punched her friend’s upper arm. “Was that a compliment?” “I don’t know, maybe?” “Don’t do that.” “Compliment you?” “Yes, I don’t know how to react to that.” “Well, normal people would say ‘thank you’.” “Thank you.” “Good, now you better get used to that because I won’t stop complimenting you until we’ve built up your confidence.”
“That’s sweet but don’t forget that too much confidence can be toxic. Don’t get arrogant. We need to go, evaluation starts in ten minutes,” Annie interrupted their talk, voice dripping with venom. Yeseul only let out a big sigh.
As they all walked towards the practice room where the CEO and various teachers would probably be waiting already, they ran into a few familiar faces. Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Wooyoung, and Yunho were headed towards them but had yet to notice the group as they were too engrossed in their own conversation. By now, Yeseul had been introduced to all the members of KQ Fellaz, the eight-member group that was set to debut sometime in the second half of the year but hadn’t talked to them that much.
Wooyoung was the first one to take note of the girls. “Oh, it’s evaluation time again, right? I completely forgot since we don’t have to do those anymore.” “Wow, that’s a whole new concept, what song are you performing?” Yunho asked as he stared in awe at their bold outfits. “Peek-A-Boo~” Jaehee playfully sang the iconic line while mimicking the dance move. “Very good song choice. It’s your first evaluation so you must be super worried, right?” Hongjoong directed his question at Yeseul. “Honestly? I’ll call myself lucky if I can make it through without throwing up from nervousness,” she answered, letting out a shaky laugh. “Don’t you dare throw up on me or anywhere near me,” Annie said with a disgusted grimace on her face, clearly not getting that Yeseul’s words hadn’t been completely serious. Sure, she still felt like throwing up but she had enough control over her stomach not to. She hadn’t eaten much since her modest breakfast, so there wasn’t much to throw up anyway. “Don’t worry, I’ll be aiming at Jaehee.” Jaehee and Yeseul sent each other playful glares but Annie just rolled her eyes and went past the boys, towards the practice room. “That’s nasty. Let’s just go, everyone’s probably waiting already.” The rest of the team decided to quickly follow her before she would be even more annoyed. The boys gave them some words of encouragement and even though she would never admit it, the encouraging smile that Seonghwa, who had been quiet the whole time, sent her, made her feel a tiny bit more at ease.
It didn’t last long, though. All of her fears punched her in the face as soon as she found herself standing in front of their judges, who were awaiting their performance. Three dance teachers were present, two vocal teachers, a producer she didn’t know, and the CEO himself. They had multiple cameras set up to record from multiple angles. “Are you ready?”, the CEO asked and Yeseul almost instinctively sad ‘No’ but there was no going back now. If she couldn’t do a simple performance in front of six people, how would she ever be able to stand on stage in front of hundreds, maybe thousands in the future?
When the first notes sounded throughout the room, Yeseul tried to forget everything around her and completely focused on the music. As quickly as the performance started, it was over. Vocally, she thought she had done well. As their team’s main vocal, she had gotten most of Wendy’s parts and even though she wasn’t yet very stable while dancing, she had managed to hit the high notes. Her dance was a different story. Yeseul was just glad that she didn’t mess up or forget any steps but she knew that she hadn’t done too well compared to the others. She found herself breathing heavily and almost shaking, as she anticipated the reaction of their audience. They were asked to leave the room for a few minutes as the teachers and CEO conferred. Once they were called back in, the CEO addressed every single trainee separately.
“Jaehee, I’m surprised with how you managed to pull off this performance. You usually do the best with hip-hop concepts but I liked how you implemented your own style while still fitting in here. This wasn’t your best rap, however, your flow was off somehow. It didn’t quite meet my expectations today. Also, while you’re a good dancer, you tend to overdance, I’ve told you before that you need to pay attention to that and adjust to your teammates so work on that.”
“Miyoung, I’m glad that you took our advice from last time to heart. You haven’t improved as much as I had hoped but I see your ambition. Your coordination is still off but you blended in better than last time. Your voice seemed really strained today so it wasn’t very pleasant to listen to. I know you can do better than that. For now, we’ll let you stay, but you will have to work harder. We need to see more improvement next month.”
“Annie, sometimes I get the feeling that you’re dancing against your fellow trainees and not with them. This is not a competition, don’t forget that. Your talent in singing and dancing is decent and you’re stable but you still need to find your own style, I believe. Besides that, I need you to work on your expressions. They are great but you are often overdoing it, especially when you’re in the back. You’re not supposed to draw attention to yourself when it’s another member’s part.”
Lastly, it was Yeseul’s turn.
“First of all, let’s talk about your vocals. You really need to work on your stability. I’m kind of surprised you managed to hit the high notes since you seemed really out of breath. Improve your stamina, sing while you’re working out. Your dancing has improved a little already, compared to your audition but you still have a long way to go, you’re nowhere near the level of your fellow trainees. You need more tension in your body, so build up more muscles and work on your angles. Lastly, I’d like to mention that I was positively surprised by your expressions. You didn’t showcase those in your audition, I felt like you became a different person. If you work on your confidence, I’m sure you’ll be able to show great stage presence in the future. We’re expecting a lot from you.”
With that, the evaluation was over. As soon as the CEO and the teachers had left the room, Yeseul let herself fall to the floor as all the nervousness was released from her body. She just wanted to cry out of joy, for getting this over with and receiving feedback that was a lot more positive than what she had expected. “No time to sit down!” Jaehee yelled and helped her stand up again. “We have to get out of these outfits and meet the others!”
Completely distracted by their preparations and practice, Yeseul had completely forgotten that all the trainees met up and hung out together after the monthly evaluations. Quite frankly, she felt tired and wanted nothing more than to curl up in her bed and sleep for twenty hours but at the same time she really wanted to deepen the bonds with the other trainees. What their CEO had said to Annie about teamwork had only proven to Yeseul how important friendships were actually. You can’t properly work as a team if you don’t get along. If you are close, your bond is reflected in the quality of your performances.
After deciding that she could just use the whole Sunday to catch up on sleep, Yeseul followed Jaehee back to the dressing room where the stylists helped them change back into their regular clothes. Annie had, not surprisingly, gone home already. So had Miyoung, which was understandable considering her young age. Her mother didn’t like her being out late so she never stayed at the agency too long unless she had to because of practice.
Yunho had texted Jaehee earlier, letting her know that they’d be meeting in Practice Room 3. When the two girls arrived, they saw that all of KQ Fellaz were already there, as well as two other female trainees. They all sat down in a large circle in the middle of the room and began talking about the evaluations. KQ Fellaz didn’t have to do them anymore but they were always eager to know how it had gone for the other trainees.
“Okay, okay, but before you tell us, we have a problem,” Wooyoung interrupted as Jaehee was just about to talk, “we need food. Who will go and get some?”
Silence filled the room. No one wanted to go out and carry all the food. So it came down to solving the issue with a good ol’ game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, which was quite a mess when 12 people were playing but after countless rounds, it worked out. Just not in Yeseul’s favor. Or Seonghwa`s.
“Yes, our eldest! You should be thankful, we’re just making sure you’re staying active, it’s difficult to stay healthy when you get old!” Jaehee teased and Yeseul threw her a death glare while putting on a light jacket. With the cheering voices of the lucky trainees who didn’t have to go out taunting them, Seonghwa and Yeseul went on their way to the restaurant.
They were both silent as they descended the stairs of their company’s building. For the first time, it was only the two of them. At least since they had met at the grocery store back then. And even then, they weren’t exactly alone. Usually, when Yeseul met any of the KQ Fellaz members, Jaehee was with her and whenever she was present, she led conversations and they flowed easily. Now, Yeseul felt awkward and she felt bad that she didn’t know what to say.
It was already dark and the streets were almost empty as they stepped outside. “Oh, it’s colder than I thought
” Yeseul mumbled, more to herself than anyone else. Spring was nearing and it had been fairly warm today so she hadn’t put much thought into her choice of outerwear. Which she now regretted. “Do you want my jacket?” She stopped dead in her tracks and looked at him with big eyes when she realized that Seonghwa had heard her. “Oh, no no no! I appreciate the gesture but then you’d be cold...plus it’s my own fault for not dressing appropriately,” she argued but he was already taking off his jacket. “It’s fine, you’re shivering and I have a thick sweatshirt underneath.” Yeseul opened her mouth to stop him but before she could say anything, he had put his jacket on her shoulder and started walking again.
She just stood in her place for a few seconds, then pulled the fabric closer to her body and ran after him.
The restaurant was luckily empty and the owner greeted them warmly.
“Ahh, is it time again? The usual?”, the old lady asked with a grin on her face. Seonghwa nodded and paid with the money they had collected from everyone. The two trainees sat down at a small table near the entrance. “You seem a lot more relaxed than earlier so I’m guessing the evaluation went well. No throwing up?” Seonghwa asked with a playful smile as they waited for the food. “No throwing up. I can’t say that I’m satisfied with my performance and I still have an extremely long way to go but it could have gone a lot worse, I think.” She told him a few things about what it had been like to really perform for the first time, even if it was only in front of a few people. He watched her eyes light up while she talked about how she hadn’t felt any nervousness while singing; despite her original worries; she just felt free and careless and despite her flaws, she had truly enjoyed herself for those three minutes.
Yeseul didn’t notice how much she rambled, only when the old lady told them that their food was ready, did she realize that she had talked for almost 20 minutes, with Seonghwa only throwing in a few questions and comments here and there. As they took the bags and exited the restaurant, she quickly apologized. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that I was only talking about myself
” Seonghwa shook his head. “Don’t worry about it, okay?” It’s always very nice to listen to people talk about their passions and what they truly love. I didn’t even realize time had passed.” The walk back to the company seemed a lot shorter as Seonghwa had begun sharing small tales from he first became a trainee. When they ascended the stairs, him in the front and Yeseul tailing along behind him, he suddenly stopped and turned around to check whether she was struggling with the bags.
She looked at him questioningly. She was doing fine, he had taken the heavier bags and left her with the smallest ones. Still, he was staring at her. “You have something in your hair...ummm, do you want me to get it out?”. She slowly nodded. He carefully put the take-out on the floor, making sure not to spill anything, and stepped down until he stood right in front of her. She watched his every move as his fingers went up to the top of her head and softly pulled something small out. She couldn’t see what it was but she also didn’t care. She was too focused on his hand smoothing out her hair again after his actions had slightly messed it up. “What was it?” “A small moth.” A shiver went down her spine. “Thank god you didn’t tell me before...I would have screamed and probably woken up the whole neighborhood.”
After a few seconds of awkward silence and neither of them meeting the other’s eyes, Seonghwa took a hold of the bags again and they quickly went back to the practice room where a bunch of hungry trainees was eagerly waiting for their return. Since they were all starved and overly excited for their food, no one noticed that Yeseul was still wearing Seonghwa’s jacket.

You Confess Your Feelings To Him | ATEEZ x Reader
(posted this before but it didn’t show up in the tags so here we go again)
Tumblr media
HONGJOONG
The two of you had met through Seonghwa but had only recently started hanging out alone, without the other ATEEZ members present, so your confession was a real surprise to him.
He’s super confused at first and probably just stares at you with wide eyes and a blank face for a few seconds.
He might ask for confirmation: “You mean it?”
After confirming your feelings once again, he’ll get the biggest smile on his face but he’ll be shyly rubbing his neck, unable to meet your eyes.
He doesn’t really know what to say so he’ll just pull you close to his chest and give you a tight hug.
SEONGHWA
You had been friends for a few years already and quite a while ago, some romantic tension between you two had developed.
Seonghwa himself had been preparing a confession, your feelings for each other had gotten pretty obvious recently.
Still, he was kinda surprised that you beat him to it.
“Hearing you say that makes me really happy.”
He’ll take your hand in his to pull you close and give you a soft kiss on your forehead.
YUNHO
Having been childhood friends and having known each other for close to 15 years, neither of you expected to develop romantic feelings.
When you confess, the poor puppy is so flustered, you can watch his ears turn red almost immediately.
Mind empty. He really doesn’t know what to do or say.
He just smiles widely but tries to cover his mouth with his hand as he collects himself.
His coping mechanism? Jokes.
“How could you not like me when I’m this cute?”
Before you can get mad at him, he’ll wrap you in a bear hug and kiss the top of your head.
YEOSANG
You haven’t known each for too long. You met randomly on the street but something clicked right away.
He’ll be flustered at your confession but he’s extremely good at hiding it. You won’t notice unless you pay extra close attention to his body language.
“How much do you like me, though?”
You now have permission to punch him to show him how much you like him.
He’ll apologize with a kiss on the cheek before you actually hurt him.
SAN
You two went to school together and had grown very close, keeping in touch after graduation even when he became an idol.
You still texted regularly and he even made the time to hang out with you if his schedule allowed it. You soon developed feelings and despite his profession, you just couldn’t keep it to yourself.
He’s quiet at first as he tries to carefully think about what to respond. His silence makes you anxious but you can see a sparkle in his eyes that gives you some hope.
He just can’t figure out how to express in happiness in words, so he’ll give you the sweetest smile, showing off his adorable dimples.
*happy anime girl noises*
San will hug you tight and you can bet your ass he’s never letting go again.
MINGI
This man is oblivious as hell so he probably had absolutely no idea you had any kind of romantic feelings for him even though the two of you had been cuddling and holding hands an awful lot.
He just assumed it was a thing that friends do but it had always been a little more than that to you.
He’ll be really surprised, maybe even pointing at himself and asking if you’re serious.
“Really? Me?”
Just like Yunho, his first instinct is to joke about it once he’s processed your words.
He’ll put a hand to your forehead to check if you have a fever. “Are you okay? You’re not sick?”
When he sees you playfully pout at his joke, he’ll pull you in for a quick kiss. That’s definitely not something friends do, right?
WOOYOUNG
You have known each other for quite some time because of mutual friends but never spent too much time  together when one day, you were dared to kiss him at a party. Even though neither of you felt anything at that moment, you became friends and started hanging out regularly.
It did develop into a mutual romantic interest but neither of you was read to admit it. Well, you decided to take one for the team.
He’s absolutely flustered and tries not to show it but he can’t really meet your eyes.
But: He is A TEASE.
He’ll pretend he didn’t hear/understand you and make you repeat your confession with a smug grin on his face.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get that, you gotta speak up a little.”
JONGHO
You had been gaming buddies for a few years and hung out at the dorm quite often and developed feelings for him that you didn’t expect to be reciprocated. Still, you had to take a shot.
For some reason, he’s in his fansign-mode.
He hears words like those quite a lot so his immediate response without thinking is “Ah, thank you for loving me” or something similar.
Then realizes that YOU said it to him and that he wasn’t at a fansign.
He’s pretty dumbfounded and just asks you why.
As you start listing all your reasons, he flashes his gummy smile.
“But for real, thanks for loving me.”

Thank you so much for 1,400 followers!
Tumblr media
A huge thank you to every single one of you for your continuous support and love! When we started this blog 2 and a half years ago, it was actually meant as a joke, neither of us expected that we’d enjoy this as much as we do and, more importantly, that we’d reach that many people.
Thank you for everything!

Can you please make D, J, P and X for Min Kyunghoon? Please and thank you 😊
D = Darling  (Pet names)
He’s probably not someone who uses pet names too much. He mostly adresses you by your name or calls you sweetheart once in a while. However, you might use a bunch of cringy pet names for each other ironically.
J = Jealousy (Are they jealous? How do they handle it?)
He actually gets jealous quite easily. Whether you’re out to eat and the waiter starts subtly flirting with you or an old ex suddenly contacts you again. However, he’s not the type to show it. He’ll rarely talk about it, he’ll just silently brood over it but brush it off after some time. He trusts you, so there’s no need to be jealous.
P = Playtime (Any headcanons on sex)
Kyunghoon is probably fairly vanilla and not much into experimenting.
One of the things that turn him on the most, is when you play with his hair, maybe even pull it a little during sex.
He most likely falls asleep very quickly after finishing but will make sure you’re tight in his arms when he drifts off to sleep.
X = (E)x (How do they handle exes? What do they do if they see them)
It really depends how they broke it off. If it was a nasty break-up, he’ll try to either ignore or avoid them, making sure they don’t notice his presence. If they parted in a friendly manner, he might even strike up a conversation but nothing that lasts longer than five minutes. In general, he’s probably not someone who’d stay friends with one his exes.

Can i get G, R, and S for Yeosang from the love alphabet? Thanks!
G = Good Morning (How do they wake you up)
Yeosang is usually up before you and while you’re still asleep, he’ll spend his time watching you sleep, noticing how every little detail about you is pure perfection. When he wants you to wake up, he’ll lightly stroke your shoulder and pull you into a good morning-hug as soon as you stir awake.
R = Rapture (What makes them happy?)
It really makes him happy when you help him bully the other members. Something that makes him really happy is when you express how much you love his voice and ask him to sing for you. He’s still a little self-conscious but your words lift him up. Another thing that brings him happiness, is when you show support for him and his members. Like, when you buy their albums even though he could get one for free, collect his photocards, and come to their performances. Sometimes he even catches you watching their performances and replaying his parts, the look on your face always makes his heart melt.
S = Soulmate (What do they think of soulmates?)
He didn’t really believe in the concept of soulmates until you came along and proved him wrong.

hi!! could i request yunho (ateez) and the letters: a, c, d, e, r, s, v, y, z for the love alphabet? oml i’m sorry, that’s a lot, feel free to do as many as you want!💞
It’s fine, no worries! Time to expose Admin Aileen: Yunho is her bias in ATEEZ and even though she says she hates him, she’s secretly enjoying this a lot :)
A = Affection (PDA, what sort of affection they give)
Yunho is very big on PDA and he’ll show his affection a lot, at least as much as his idol status allows him to. Expect a lot of surprise bear hugs. He also loves being able to hold your hand at all times. Giving him kisses on the cheek will absolutely melt his heart, by the way.
C = Cuddles (How they cuddle or are cuddled)
He loves cuddling while you’re laying on his chest and he gently strokes your hair. Holding hands while cuddling is also really important to him. Another thing he enjoys, is being the big spoon but he also likes when you cling to his back like a jetpack, especially when he’s had a rough day.
D = Darling  (Pet names)
Even though it might sound too clichĂ© or even childish maybe, he loves when you call him your sunshine. Teddy bear is one of his favourites too. He either calls you honey or something weirdly specific, something that’s more of an inside joke and nobody else understands.
E = Enamored (how hard do they fall when in love)
He doesn’t just fall for random people on the streets, he needs a connection with that person but once he falls, he falls hard. It’s all or nothing.
R = Rapture (What makes them happy?)
Most of the time, simply seeing you smile is enough to lift his mood. If you’re happy, he’s happy. He also gets really happy when he knows you’re watching their performance. He loves dancing for you, sharing his passion. It makes him even more happy, if you let him teach you some steps or you even decide to learn a choreography with him.
S = Soulmate (What do they think of soulmates?)
Definitely believes in soulmates. He’s kind of a dreamer, probably. He also doesn’t just believe in soulmates in a romantic kind of a way but also in a platonic way.
V = Vulnerable (Are they vulnerable often? How do they handle it?)
It really depends on the level of trust. Early into the relationship he’ll probably make sure to hide when he’s feeling down, etc. but he’ll definitely confide in you once you’ve reached a certain level of trust.
Y = Yearning (What do they do when they miss you?)
Yunho usually tries to distract himself when he really misses you, either with dancing or playing video games. When he misses you too much, he’ll scroll through the selfies that you’d sent him (he has them saved in a separate folder) or even listens to some of your old voice mails.
Z = Zzz
 (Sleeping headcanons) He snores. Hard and loud. He sleeps a lot and sleeps for very long hours if he can because he’s a light sleeper and wakes up fairly easily. He’ll also definitely cuddle with you throughout the whole night. He’s comfortable in almost every position unless you cut off his blood or air circulation in any way.

Aurora || Chapter 3
> Aurora Masterlist <
Pairing: Seonghwa x OC (slowburn)
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: none
A/N: Whoop, here it is. Hope you enjoy the third chapter! I know things are going fairly slow right now but it’s just for the sake of introducing my OC and other important characters. I’ll speed things up soon, I promise.  - Admin Soomi
Tumblr media
° FREUNDSCHAFT °
-> friendship
After eating her ice cream and getting a new boost of energy, she took a long walk around neighborhood despite the cold before returning to the agency. She still had some time left so she sat down on a sofa in the break room and decided to text her dad and siblings, who stayed in Germany when her mother and her moved to Seoul, a small update. They knew Yeseul had auditioned to become a trainee but she hadn’t clued them in on the newest developments yet. She wrote a few paragraphs and set her phone down, knowing she wouldn’t get a response anytime soon as it wasn’t even 6am yet all the way in Europe.
She closed her eyes for a second and tried to relax. She was on edge. The sweet treat had helped for a little while but now that the classes were getting closer, so was her heart to getting a heart attack. Sure, she didn’t have to join them today but she was still incredibly nervous because she hadn’t met any of the other trainees yet. They were all busy practicing and perfecting their performances for the evaluation so she wasn’t surprised she hadn’t run into anyone yet. Yeseul sent a prayer to whatever God was willing to listen, hoping that she’d be able to get along with everyone, or at least a few of them. They would be training together almost every single day of the week and maybe in the future, she should be in a girl group with some of them. Considering those circumstances, the last thing she wanted was to make enemies. She wanted healthy competition, friends that pushed each other to their limits while supporting and lifting you up.
Yeseul was now nervously fiddling with her phone and decided to just go to the practice room where the vocal evaluation would be to see if she could enter already. When she got there, the door to the room was wide open and she could actually look inside this time. She hesitated. A few trainees were inside, standing around and talking but she wasn’t sure if they were already done practicing or just taking a break. She didn’t want to intrude. All of a sudden, she felt a presence behind her. “Ah, I remember you! You’re Yeseul, right? I just heard that you got accepted!” As she turned around, she found herself before a woman in her forties who she recognized to be one of the vocal teachers who had been present at her audition. She was surprised but honored that she even remembered her name. “I’m Ms. Lee, by the way, and I am very excited to be working with you. You have a very interesting tone and I already have a few things planned for you.” Ms. Lee gave her a playful wink and walked past her into the practice room. The teacher stood in front of the trainees and they immediately greeted her in unison. Then, she motioned for Yeseul to come in and told her to introduce herself.
“My name is Hwang Yeseul, I’m 19 years old and I just became a trainee today. I hope we can get along well and please take care of me.” The other trainees, six girls, just like Mr. Kang had told her, gave her a variety of looks. Some of them curious, some friendly, some completely indifferent. At least no hateful glares. Yet. It could have been worse.
Yeseul was told to sit on a chair in the corner of the room and watch the evaluation.
She observed in astonishment as the girls showcased their vocal abilities in a ballad that they had picked together. She was impressed, they harmonized well and managed to implement each person’s strengths perfectly. They must have been training for a while to know each other’s voices so well. Ms. Lee, on the other hand, wasn’t exactly happy with their performance. She began pointing out issues and practicing those parts with the trainees over and over again until they got it right. As they neared the end of the song and struggled with one particular high note, Ms. Lee suddenly turned to Yeseul.
“I know you’re training technically starts on Monday, but I want you to sing that part for me.”
The young woman sang the part a few times until the teacher was satisfied with her technique and even used her as an example to explain to the other trainees what they could do differently. Yeseul felt a little uncomfortable. She did manage to impress her vocal teacher but at the same time, she saw one of the trainees giving her the stink eye. It was a tall girl who she assumed to be a little younger than her. She had a clear voice but not a very wide range. Her plans of not grabbing too much attention and laying low went out of the window.
After the spontaneous presentation, Yeseul sat back down and was grateful she got to remain seated until the end of the lesson. As the lesson ended, Ms. Lee left fairly quickly because she had a meeting to attend and they were given a half an hour break before the dance evaluation.
Yeseul didn’t even get the chance to worry about how to make friends because as soon as the teacher had left the room, one of the trainees walked right up to her with a bright smile on her face.
“I’m Jung Jaehee, nice to meet you!” Yeseul gave her a shy smile in return, a little overwhelmed. Not that she was complaining.
Jaehee was only a few centimeters taller than her, had short hair cut into a bob, and a fairly loud voice. “You’re a really great singer, do you know that? Do you think you could give me some tips? I’m actually training to be a rapper but I want to improve my singing too so I can show different sides of me.” She felt herself blush at the kind compliment. She hadn’t really noticed Jaehee during the evaluation. She didn’t get a lot of singing parts which made sense to her now. “I’m sure I can try. Thank you, by the way.”
The two girls sat down on the floor next to each other as everyone waited for the dance teachers. They got to talk quite a lot and Yeseul slowly but steadily started feeling more comfortable. While Jaehee’s personality seemed overwhelming at first, she was very kind and understanding, offering her help in getting started as a trainee. Jaehee was 18 years old and had been a trainee for over two years already. Her specialties were dancing and rapping so she took fewer vocal classes but still had to take part in the evaluations. Yeseul could have also chosen to take rap classes but decided against it, knowing it wouldn’t be for her at all.
The younger of the two was currently living in a dorm with some of the other trainees and promised her to introduce all of them to Yeseul later.
They would have loved to talk more but soon two dance teachers arrived and the dance evaluation began.
Watching them perform their dance routine made Yeseul even more nervous than the vocal evaluation did. They were in sync, all of them on a similar level, no one stuck out in a negative way. They worked as a perfect team and she would probably have to practice night and day to catch up with them. But that’s exactly what she had literally signed up for only a few hours ago, there was no turning back now. She would make it somehow, she made that promise to herself.
The dance teachers gave their feedback and corrected even the tiniest mistakes that Yeseul herself would have never noticed. She tried to take a few mental notes on what to take into consideration and pay extra attention to when she’d be learning her first choreography next week.
It took a little over two hours until the teachers were completely satisfied with the result and let the trainees leave. At least in this class they didn’t spontaneously involve her somehow. She had a short talk with the mentors, introducing herself and receiving a short welcome. After they left, Jaehee once again ran over to her.
Jaehee had really caught her eye during the dance performance. Even though Yeseul was clueless when it came to dancing, she could tell that the younger trainee was the best and most confident out of all of them. Her expressions were on point, her moves sharp but she still blended in perfectly with the group.
“It’s scary, right? Everything’s new and you’re probably wondering how the hell you will be able to catch up,” Jaehee addressed her as they walked through the hallway towards the exit. They were on the way to a nearby restaurant, as lessons for today were officially over. Jaehee had also asked a few other trainees but they decided to stay and practice a little longer.
“I’ve never danced before in my life and didn’t do very well in my audition...Saying it’s scary would be an understatement,”Yeseul replied with a nervous sigh. She received a bright smile in return. “Don’t worry, let’s make a deal! You’ll teach me how to sing and I’ll teach you how to dance so we’ll help each other get good enough to debut!” Her enthusiasm was contagious so she agreed. They sealed the deal with a handshake.
The restaurant Jaehee led her to was small and hidden in an allway but offered a variety of delicious meals for a decent price. The trainees came here often, apparently. All of them, both female and male trainees, came together once a month after the big monthly evaluation, either eating at the place itself or getting take-out to the practice room. Smaller groups also sometimes went there simply to get lunch or for other occasions.
The monthly evaluation scared Yeseul the most. The CEO hadn’t mentioned it, she found out about it through Jaehee. Next to the separate vocal and dancing evaluations every Saturday, there was a big evaluation once a month where the trainees had to show a real, proper performance. Singing while dancing, dressed up in outfits selected by stylists, getting their makeup done, recording a practice video. The full package. The most recent one had been last week, so at least she had around 3 weeks to prepare, both physically and mentally.
Right after placing their order, Yeseul heard another group of customers enter the store. She sat with her back to the door so she couldn’t see who it was, but Jaehee suddenly waved them over. Yeseul turned around and saw four young men walking towards them, three of which she recognized as the ones she had seen at the convenience store a few hours ago. So they are trainees after all, she assumed, considering Jaehee knew them and they kept appearing around the agency.
The boys sat down on a table right next to them and gave her curious looks. She looked eyes with the one who had helped her get the ice cream earlier today. Seonghwa, if she remembered his name correctly. She couldn’t stop a blush from appearing on her face, she wasn’t expecting to meet him again so quickly. Or to meet him again at all.
“Guys, that’s Yeseul, she became a trainee today so you better be nice to her! And Yeseul, these are Seonghwa, San, Wooyoung, and Yeosang. They are trainees as well but preparing to debut soon.” Yeosang was the one she hadn’t seen yet, Wooyoung and San were the ones who had been bickering about which chips to buy. She shyly bowed to them.
“Oh, I know you! We saw you earlier at the 7/11! Ah, we should have known you are a trainee
” And right after after that, Yeseul was bombarded with questions, mostly from Wooyoung.
He asked about her age and she found out that she was actually older than all of them, except for Seonghwa. He was four months older than her.
He then went on to question her about her audition, what position she auditioned for and what songs she performed. She explained that she auditioned for a vocal position as she wasn’t very experienced when it came to dancing.
“Ahh, you should hear her sing! She’ll be the main vocal of KQ’s girl group, mark my words!” Yeseul almost choked on her water at Jaehee’s words. “You’re giving me too much credit...you haven’t even really heard me sing yet.” A smirk appeared on the younger girl’s face and Yeseul raised an eyebrow in confusion. “Oh, I have.” “How?” “I found your Youtube channel.” Her eyes widened in surprise before she realized something. “I don’t have a Youtube channel.” Jaehee shrugged. “Well, it was worth a try.”
“By the way, where are you from? You don’t look like you’re fully Korean,” Yeosang chimed in. “I’m originally from Germany. My dad is German but my mom is Korean.”
And with that, the questions about Germany started flooding in. “What is the food like in Germany?” “Fantastic but you can’t compare it to Korean food in any way.” “Is everyone really that punctual.” “Older people, yes. Our generation? Not really.” “Have you been to the Oktoberfest? Was it good?” “Uhh, a few times. But don’t go to the Oktoberfest in Munich, the smaller ones are just as fun and less packed.”
Even when their food came, the questions wouldn’t stop and Yeseul started to feel a little overwhelmed once again. Thankfully, Seonghwa, who had so far mostly only been listening intently, got his friends to stop pestering her.
“Guys, you’ve got to eat, otherwise the food will be cold.”
She sent him a thankful glance and after the questioning was over, they all spent a relaxed meal together. Maybe making friends wasn’t so hard. Good thing Jaehee turned out to be the extrovert ready to adopt her.
