The Discord server I joined and helped mod, cult of the tumblrs, closed its doors last night after a nice run, and I missed the chance to post any goodbyes.

When I got into COTL I had been abruptly fired from the job that had been my life since my first day. I was looking for anything to help fill my empty days and distract myself. Cult of the Lamb did that for me, and the subsequent Discord I found really, really helped me improve my art by leaps and bounds. I met some really cool artists there that I won’t bug with an @, but I hope they’ll still consider me a pal worth reaching out to if they wanna.

In February 2023, I found a new job after half a year of unemployment. My free time and my energy levels dropped, and I couldn’t keep up my involvement even if I wanted to. I felt bad about it, but the server was there when I needed it and no longer fit into my life like I wished it could. It helped me a lot when I needed that help, but as an adult living on my own I have to prioritize “responsibility” and “money” and other dumb shit unfortunately. I have fond memories of the server and I hope everyone else got to grow a bit, too.

some updates regarding this blog: I’m not going to delete it, but I Am going to change the URL so someone else can be dailykallamar if they want. just don’t be cringe, put some respect on the squid ok

My main remains @tatsugiriroll , but with the updates coming out soon I may still be revisiting this blog from time to time. I have a Lot of fanfic ideas in my brain. cheers for now tho 🥂✌️

just a heads up I’m probably not gonna use this blog anymore. I still like COTL, it’s a good game, I like the characters, but the fandom has turned me off. Wish I was joking. Maybe I’ll deactivate so someone else can get the URL but until then if you want you can follow me on @tatsugiriroll

One of my Deeper Worldbuilding headcanons for Cult of the Lamb is that the forms followers have in-game are so Disfigured compared to the actual animals they're based on because they're 'domesticated' versions of those creatures that existed in more feral, Realistic shapes thousands of years ago.

However, much like when dogs were domesticated, when they joined in large numbers under Gods or other leaders, they took on traits more suited to that life rather than survival. That's why insectoid "followers" can hardly cook and clean for themselves but Helob is able to trap and kill them with ease. They simply come from a bloodline where their predecessors were provided for in exchange for what they produced. It's comparable to the western honey bee, which makes honey for its keepers in exchange for protection from predators- including larger, more aggressive bee species such as a hornet.

This might not be a new headcanon, but it's one that I really like. I especially enjoy mixing it with the fact the Bishops were probably Around before this speciation started and sometimes think........... remember when these guys could actually take care of themselves. yeah. that was great. what happened to that. the reliance is a good tool to keep them loyal, but i bet they miss having Non-Monstrous followers that could actually accomplish more advanced tasks than 'clean up after yourself'

this is a tricky situation, but i don’t want to make any sudden changes, so i wil have this poll:

not entirely sure what we would retcon but some stuff off the top of my head would be: - age order - the bishops' experiences with other gods - relationships to other characters (such as kudaii and clauneck)

also please don't send us spoilers still. we are not done playing!
