1. I heard you’re really busy. What are you focusing on these days?

“I’m happy for the recent overwhelming reactions that went beyond expectation, but at the same time I’m also astonished that I couldn’t believe it. I feel the responsibility to delight fans all over the world with better music and production. The vocation in me to help extending the K-pop market and lead the next generation on the path that the forerunners have opened for us also grew stronger. BTS is growing rapidly so I have a lot of worries, but the most important thing is still music, so I’m focusing on making music.”

2. I’m curious what you thought when you first made BTS. Different from the big names that have produced many groups, you faced many difficulties producing a male idol group that they’re even called “dirt spoon”. Feels like even how the group was formed is unique already.

“It’s just something the fans and the media call us, we don’t call ourselves “dirt spoon”. One of BTS’ songs even has a line saying “don’t call me a spoon”. (laughs) I first met Rap Monster and then I wanted to make a hip hop group, so we opened an audition and discovered Suga there. As we progressed further, I thought that this group’s members have to be able to tell their own stories. They all had strong determination towards music and showed their sincerity, so I thought going on this path would be okay. Before debuting, we promised that if they believe in the team’s potential and do their best, then I as a producer will definitely help them win recognition. The members believed in that promise and I also did my best to keep that promise. I think this is, and will still be a promise that we all will never forget.”

3. You love all the members, but there must be a certain one that you adore more.

“It’s like when you bite all ten fingers, there’s no finger that doesn’t hurt, I have a special affection for all of them. Especially when they focus on their own work, I feel pleased. They’re the ones that I personally picked and debuted, there’s no such thing as loving anyone more, I’m proud of them all.”

4. Did you expect this success? I’m curious about what you feel as their producer, is it “They did better than I thought”, or is it “There’s still a long way to go”?

“They say you have to dream big right? When I debuted BTS, there wasn’t any confidence or assurance, I just thought “They must become Korea’s top level singers. They must become the best singers that I won’t feel ashamed to compare them with the great singers that I produced for.” I don’t know what the staff around me thought of it that time, but my thought was that rather than an instant success after debuting, I have to watch for their growth for a time. I planned for the group to grow steadily and continuously from the start already, so I wanted each member to grow in terms of music. They relied on, comforted and praticed with each other, that’s why I could keep my belief and advance. Recently it has been a series of things even I couldn’t imagine of, but maybe it’s thanks to my trust in the members and our company, I’m confident that BTS will continue to grow for a very long time.”

You have to surrender to your mediocrity, and just write. Because it’s hard, really hard, to write even a crappy book. But it’s better to write a book that kind of sucks rather than no book at all, as you wait around to magically become Faulkner. No one is going to write your book for you and you can’t write anybody’s book but your own.

Murphy’s law, applied to fanfics.

- The fic starts out great, nice style, language, captivating summary. It’s unfinished and has been abandoned since 2013.

- The fic is complete, nice style, language, tons of kudos speak for themselves. It’s about your NOTP.

- The fic is about your OTP,  it’s complete, it’s kinky as hell. The plot is absolutely dumbass.

- The plot sounds great, it’s about your OTP, it’s complete. The characters are horribly OOC.

 - Everything is perfect in this fic, starting from the first letter and ending with the last full stop. It’s exactly 800 words long.

- The fic’s word count is a six-figure number, it’s about your OTP, characters are compliant with your head-canon. It’s dull and boring as seven hells.

- The beginning is enthralling, everything’s great, the plot, the style, it’s long and it’s even about your OTP. It features something that makes you close the tab as soon as you open it, like father/daughter incest or mpreg or some other squicky thing. 

- Everything is perfect in this fic, the length, the characters, the language, the style, you forget you’re reading fanfic, thinking it’s a masterpiece of true literature, you cry tears of joy and write a huge review full of gushing love and then rush to the author’s profile to read every other thing they’ve written. It’s their only work.

FUUUUUCK, you just made me remember the whole yips arc where Eijun kept on going on about how weak he was. Holy shiiiizzzz. I can really feel Eijun boiling up once Asada starts talking about not knowing how to be at the bottom cause fuck yo asada, you know nothing. Eijun didn’t come from the bottom, he wasn’t even part of the ones who can be come the bottom. He wasn’t part of the team in the start! Holy shiiiiz, now I don’t know if I want calm and collected Eijun or Eijun who blows up cause ‘kid, you don’t know what you’re talking about.’

But still, I crave for mature Sawamura-senpai.
