(Content Warning: death, (one) tiger, getting eaten by animals)

So in the folk tale, there's this rice cake seller living with her two children, a boy(usually said to be older) and a girl(usually younger). One day the rice cake seller is coming back home after selling rice cakes at the market, and she has to climb a few mountains.

WELL, in the mountains, a tiger appears on EVERY DARN MOUNTAIN SHE PASSES THROUGH. Every time, it says, "If you give me a rice cake, I won't eat you!"

The leftover rice cakes from the market run out pretty quickly, and eventually the rice cake seller is eaten by the tiger. The tiger then dresses in her clothes & heads to the seller's home to eat her children too.

The tiger arrives at the house, and calls out in a falsetto, "Children, mother is home, open the door!" The younger girl is convinced, but the older boy is not, and stops the other from opening the door. The tiger lies that it has a cold & its voice is raspy because of that.

The elder child then tells the tiger to show them its hand. The tiger pokes a hole through the door(back then, the doors were made of paper with wooden frames. Don't ask why the tiger didn't just rip open the door, it's folk tale logic) but OBVIOUSLY its hand looks like, well, a tigers paw.

The story vaguely differs according to version, but it always concludes with the siblings huddled up on a tree and the tiger attempting to climb up.

The tiger asks them how they climbed up so high. The children lie and say they rubbed sesame oil on their hands. The tiger, of course, tries exactly that, but slips and falls.

The children laugh, but the younger child accidentally mutters, "that fool, it could always use an axe to climb up," and the tiger hears.

As the tiger gets closer, the children pray to the Sky Emperor(East Asian God) for a rope to climb up. Miraculously, a rope descends from the heavens, and the children are pulled up into the skies.

The tiger also prays for a rope, but the rope given to the tiger is rotten, and the tiger, according to version, either falls and dies, dyeing the sorghum(or buckwheat) crops red with its blood, or falls on its butt and runs away howling.

The Sky Emperor makes the boy and girl the sun and moon respectively, but the little girl was afraid of the dark, and her older brother offers to switch. And so, the girl becomes the sun & the boy becomes the moon.

Anyway!!! Obviously I imagined the siblings as Chay and Lullah, lol. And I thought Phil could be the Sky Emperor? Idk what I thought about Missa, but I'm guessing I imagined him as the mother, with original twists in the form of Pissa™️.

Maybe Cucurucho can be the tiger, that'd be funny I think KEKW.
