Missa hesitates, fists clenched. None of this sits right with him, makes his stomach churn. No, he doesn’t know how to help Philza. Yes, their children’s safety means the world and beyond to him, and he’ll go back home soon. But there has to be more he can do. He isn’t this useless to his family, is he? Surely his husband has some faith in him, right?

“Please, Missa!” Philza snaps, his eyes flashing purple. Missa flinches at the violent reverberation of his voice.

Maybe faith isn’t enough right now.
