a lot of people are unaware of the hardships Arthur goes through. He finally has a sister who is the same size as him but if he pounces on her she growls at him </3 Just today he saw her chasing a little ball and batting it around the kitchen and when he pounced on her she still growled and smacked him.

If Purdue ends up not working out I think a lot of us who donated would be ok w the money going into medical slush fund for the babies

Thank you, i appreciate that and it is definitely something I considered. But I’m not sure how I would even go about contacting everyone on the gofundme and seeing whether they want a refund or not. And I never want anyone to feel like I tricked them or I stole from them.

I’m still holding out hope that when Doc contacts Purdue this week he’s able to scrape a significant portion of that cost off by doing some of the tests for me. And I’m holding off making any official decisions until then.

How do you clean the eye boogers off of your cats?

Usually I just use my finger and gently take them off. If you do it every day they’re not so crusted on that it causes any kind of discomfort.

For Arthur I use chlorhexidine pads. His facial folds are basically always a little wet and he’d definitely end up with a nasty infection in there if I wasn’t careful.

With a cat like Lucy where it’s super crusted on I’d ideally do a warm compress every day until it was all softened up enough to just come right off. That’s not really an option at this point because I’m trying to convince her I’m not an evil person. Instead I’ve just been doing a swipe with a chlorhexidine pad when I can.

In regards to this: I talked to doc some more. He’s going to call Purdue next week and see how much of the work up we’d be able to get done here. So hopefully it won’t end up being such a painful total

Yes, Purdue University. I’m a bit over 3 hours away though, so we’re not necessarily neighbors.

I’m also going to use this ask to post about the call back I just got from Purdue. It was NOT great.

They called me back early this morning. Was very happy to hear from them until they informed me the estimate they gave me did not include the work up, which would be an additional $1,800 to $2,000.

This practically doubles the total cost. If I hadn’t already done the gofundme I’d just wipe my hands of this and have doc do the surgery to remove one of them. But the fact that I’ve now got half the money in my bank account makes that a little more complicated.

Doc said he’d be willing to talk with their doctor and see how much of the work up they’d let him do here, which hopefully could lower the cost. Otherwise I could see about refunding the money. Refunding the money that hasn’t processed looks like it’d be pretty simple. But the stuff that’s already transferred to my savings account looks like it would be a nightmare.

Gonna take some time to think on this before I make any official decisions or announcements on the gofundme. But eugh 😵‍💫

romance book rec from someone who also doesnt usually read romance but also devoured half a soul: emily wildes encyclopedia of fairies! i havent read the follow up book yet which came out recently, but the first one was delicious! (in case you haven't read it yet)

I do really appreciate the recommendations! No, it’s het. Apparently it’s from a series though, and one of the other books in the series is sapphic. I have about a million other books on my list that’ll come before those, but I’ll probably give them a try eventually.

someday I will stop posting book content on here. but for a long time now I’ve tried to find a romance novel I enjoy. Nothing against the genre, I really want to like it, but after several DNFs I started to think it just wasn’t the genre for me.

Picked up Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater hoping for an easy read after finishing LOTR. I did not just finish said romance book, I devoured it. If I didn’t have grown up responsibilities I would have sat down and read it all in one sitting.
