Well, everything but my shower stuff is packed away, and my suitcases are both under the 23 kilogram limit. So, I guess I'm ready to depart at 4:30 tomorrow morning!
However, I doubt I'll be getting any sleep tonight with all this anxiety/excitement/confusion.
See you tomorrow, New York.
I can't even comprehend what's happening right now it just feels like I have to get up early to do something tomorrow but I haven't yet grasped the magnitude of what that something is that I have to get up early to do! AHHHHH

한국, 안녕히 계세요
Well, this is it. Last night in Korea, last night abroad. I'm finally going home.
This August to August experience has been so many things I really don't know how to adequately describe it in these rushed last hours. So, straight to the point, I had the time of my life! I met incredible people! I learned so many things about foreign places and people and, in turn, a lot of things about myself and my own cultural roots.
I've got the wanderlust bug, and I have found myself addicted to learning languages. All I can think about is all the places I want to go to, all the languages I want to learn, and all the cultures I want to absorb (and, of course, all the cuisines I want to eat!).
So, with regards to my experience, here's the short version:
China was a challenging experience, but I love Mandarin Chinese and I had an amazing time discovering how capable I could be in a tricky situation. I also met the most amazing international students and made friendships that I hope will last a long time even over such great distances.
South Korea is anything you want it to be, and I absolutely love it and all it has to offer. I want to come back, but I think if I come back for a third time, I may never leave.
So, after graduation I plan to travel Asia as much as I can before settling anywhere! Right now on my list are Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Mongolia... and I'm sure many more will pique my interest. I can't wait to see new places, meet new people, adjust to new cultures, and learn new languages!
As it stands, my life goal has manifested itself in this way. I want to learn and travel. My family and friends will always be my first home, but the idea of home can be found anywhere in the world. I want the world to be my home, many ways of life to be my own, and many languages to be mine to use freely.
So, here's to the future! Best of luck to you all, too. Thank you for your interest and support! After I get home I'll make more detailed posts evaluating my time in China and South Korea respectively.
So, goodbye, 再见, 안녕히 계세요 for now. Until the next Asia adventure!
Sincerely,
Lani
