hey my loyal readers, ALISE here, your one and only source of gosan’s finest. aren’t you curious about what i have in store for you today? don’t lie, of course you are! well, today’s highlight happens to be the only and only YOO JITAE. the yoo jitae? yes, that’s right, him. you know him, don’t you? TWENTY-EIGHT, FRESHMAN AT GOSAN U? no? well—i don’t blame you if you don’t, if you’ve seen one gosaner, you’ve seen them all. but this one, he’s a little special—not everyone hiding their real age from the rest of their year, after all.

at twenty-eight, there are three truths he’s repressed over the years (which also would’ve read rather pathetically on any college admission essay):

1. his mother subscribes to an overly complex model of outdated values. her parents had withstood japanese rule, financial ruin, and countless deaths so naturally their life philosophy is based on survival. their patchwork household holds onto blood ties and traditions. that’s how he’s brought up in a commune, that at twenty-eight, he knows to call a cult.

he never got to meet his father so his grandfather assumed the role. a man of misguided principles. beloved by everyone, a preacher, and fiercely devout to their god. affection and love are conditions applicable to believers only. outsiders don’t understand, worse, are tainted by contemporary media, education, science. nothing that is taught by society at large is feasible in its ideals. the devil has staken its claim over the world.

his family is in the business of fearmongering. and at five, he is taught to fear for his mortal soul. everyone was, but his grandfather would pay special attention to drive out any kind of individuality he could’ve possessed. the way to ensure survival was to keep his head down and his hands busy.

his mother is ritually apologetic, but she rationalizes her choices convincingly: she’d kept them fed and alive. and the need for spiritual stability is rooted so deeply in her, that the good outweighs the bad. god had shown her the alternative: a life filled with hardships, unable to keep them safe. but through god and the commune she’d found spiritual freedom and love.

2. he makes a couple of friends during his eight years in the military who get to call their parents, who get to see and touch and hear their mothers. he feels lonely, at twenty-eight, specially during the holidays. he feels silly, again and again, but chuseok is when he tries desperately to feel close to his ancestors. that’s when he gets to be part of a family, too. even if they are all long dead.

it’s been ten years. he can’t recall her scent anymore, or how her hand felt around his. just vague visuals. the faded red of her jumper, and the many hair ties she always passed onto others.

he enlists as soon as he turns eighteen. the military is safe in a way college isn’t. his grandfather speaks at length about the horrors that would inevitably befall every post grad in south korea. how it didn’t matter what you studied, what you dedicated your life to, in the end you were still a slave to an economic system that wasn’t particularly preoccupied with your well being. how horrifying, having to sacrifice your twenties to something that would chew you up and spit you out. “you’ll die alone and broke. and no one will care. they will take and take until you are nothing. at first it will be taxes, then your labor, then your life. you’ll work until your death and it will all be for nothing.”

the commune wouldn’t treat him like that. their god was benevolent and righteous. unconditional love in exchange for faith. and who is stupid enough to turn away from such an offer?

3. at twenty-six, he realizes that he’s wasted his life being afraid. his childhood is a blur of teachings and rituals that are ingrained into his very being. he is still lighting a white candle every night. he doesn’t pray, but he assumes the right position and stares at the floor until he can reason the fear and shame away.

college is a start. he’s encouraged by colleagues and counselors.

and off he goes.

at twenty-eight, there are three lies he’s rehearsed and perfected over the years:

1. his parents are divorced and his father lives in south california as a college professor. depending on whether or not someone cares enough to fact check, they are estranged.

2. his mother runs a black pig farm somewhere on jeju. she’s also a hardcore animal rights activist who doesn’t know how to use the internet. and she hates city folk so trips to and from are out of the question (god, please don’t ask).

3. he has just turned twenty-two (or was it twenty-one?), and he can’t handle alcohol very well. he enlisted before enrolling, like many others do.

your son – baek mingyu is excelling in all subjects of his schooling at the moment. he has high marks all around and seems to be very focused on his studies. he’s respected by his peers, which is evident when his classmates elected him for class president for their homeroom.

though he has no problem with the curriculum – it’s my advice as his homeroom teacher that mingyu should work on his extracurricular activities, as his third year is fast approaching.

Flowers loitered the school hallways, various pastel colors echoing a sense of mourn. Everything deemed itself too much; from the view of an endless black void cloaking every student, nothing but dim fairy lights aluminizing their last hopes; to the silence that filled every inch of her— forcing the teenager to gently quake. It’s.. too much.

“The problem is, Sunhee— If I kissed you,”

               “I don’t think I’d be able to stop.”

Images flickered through her mind at a dizzying rate, flashing freckles that dotted the other’s cheeks, and how they must have turned to stardust.. The glow of the deceased’s smile forced her hand to shake. Her fingers dug into crushed flowers over frustration. That — that person — their existence alone filled Sunhee’s veins up with liquid silver. The stings made the idea turn into a disease she could no longer cure. The only thing that.. person, has ever done was permit uncomfortable situations. Situations of flirting and touching, too much, too far. The whole point was to give her a lesson, a lesson that was well delivered.

Even so, something towards the back of her head encouraged a belief that she— she had no right to mourn. She had no right to comfort her fellow peers as they fall to their knees in loud sobs, tears staining their cheeks. So, only anger and hatred filled her to a leaking brim.

“Sunhee. You can’t seriously be feeling sorry for her, right? She fell. It wasn’t our fault. Now go before someone sees.”

But, was she mad at the photo framed with delicates before her? Or was she furious with herself?

The past several weeks, law enforcement officials have made the school their newly established home. Just, that their only purpose was to consistently question students on an ongoing missing persons case. The case was over Jeju High’s beloved— lesbian— Park Jiah. Although, it seemed that the police peaked an interest on Sunhee. After all, Sunhee was the local gossip queen.. and the deceased’s biggest crush.

“Keep your mouth fucking shut. This could destroy all of our lives.” “We did this for you, Sunhee, why are you backing out now? You wanted that faggot off your ass.”

The case went cold.

It went cold until the discovery of Jiah’s body at the bottom of a lake, skull ripped to shreds and fish feeding off of flesh. They classified the autopsy as a suicide which closed the case permanently after two months.

Yet, You don’t get to die and be reborn the same. You come back, yet you come back wrong.

Maybe being handed life from two famous celebrities made it so simple. As if an all out pass to society’s perfect face was nothing but a gift from absent loving parents. Everything from that point on continued to be handed to her with ease, she began to believe it was a basic right. A right that those who were made to stand had, and those who didn’t receive, were just stepping stones.

Even fame was something to be groomed for, the public eye always kept a close look towards her actions anyways. Cameras consistently monitored every movement, trend, place, vacation— anything. Paparazzis couldn’t get enough of Korea’s new perfect little sunshine.

But, she thrived in it, breathed it, demanded it. It’s all she’s ever known.

Sunhee continued to desire more— yes, more than that high school popularity or the rapid growth of social media accounts.. More, more, more. She wanted the public to bow down to her like a princess. She threaded unadulterated beauty to her core, flexed it. Every smile thrown a direction always caused a beautiful headline photo. Just what more could she receive? Displeasure began to seep towards darkened corners. It wasn’t enough, it was never enough.

So, the young adult inserted herself into different communities to stretch the name. Makeup, SFX, fashion, modeling— what else couldn’t she pull off or turn into her own trend? It was a sense of feminine art that etched into her creativity, something she grew to adore rather quickly with makeup being her largest focus. Such a focus that college permitted her into a business major in hopes to develop her own company.

Sunhee must have saved an entire nation from a previous life to be rewarded with an easy access life. Or, at least.. the public believes her day-to-day is that simple.

he’s six when he first acts upon his curiosity. the kitchen had always been off limits for him, something forbidden and taboo, but that only draws him to the room more. he’s observed for months and the first place he goes to is the refrigerator. he grabs a carrot before heading to one of the drawers to grab a knife. with the counters still being too high for minwoo, he takes a seat on the floor, carefully placing the carrot down before picking up his knife. he copies the cooks as one hand holds the carrot still while his other struggles to hold the knife up. the first few cuts go as well as they could for a six-year-old and he swells with pride and confidence. a few more cuts and the carrot is almost completely chopped up. it’s when there’s only a little bit left that the carrot slips and with one wrong move the floor is filling with blood and minwoo starts wailing as tears appear. his parents find him quickly and luckily the situation is handled in a panic but quickly. he’s told that he’s lucky he didn’t lose any limbs and finds himself staying far away from the kitchen.

maybe that event took too heavy a toll on such a small child, but minwoo never went against his mother’s words again. pain or any type of suffering he didn’t want to feel any of that again. he spent hours in cram school, made friends with the children his mother asked for him to get along with, and attended all the events his mother made him go to with perfect charm.

at eleven he’s kidnapped for the first time. it’s winter and it’s cold, but he sits quietly and waits for people to come because he knows that they’ll be here soon. he can hear them asking for the money in the other room. when he’s finally back home, cuddling up into his heated blanket and drinking soup that his nanny made it’s cemented in his mind: money is comfort.

he’s in his final year of college, about to graduate with a degree in business and ready to take over the family business when he comes home to an empty home. he finds his mother sitting in the middle of the floor, only a few of their possessions surrounding her. he’s twenty-one when he has to drop out of college. he’s twenty-one when his father abandons him.

his mother takes it worse than him. unable to accept reality she tried anything to mimic that life that the two of them were so comforted by. she starts to take up an incredible amount of debt. opening credit card after credit card before she got caught and even going as far as to convince him to do the same for her. he does, of course, like the filial son that he was. it gets bad enough that at one point she asks him to try to borrow money from his friends but he knows that there are certain appearances that he still has to keep up. their home is more of a shack than a house, but his mother and him still drive expensive cars and dress in designer clothes. even when minwoo tries to convince his mother to accept the truth she continuously comes back with more and more clothes for him and he knows that he can’t say no. not when it was the only thing that made her smile anymore.

TWENTY-THREE, SENIOR AT GOSAN U? no? well—i don’t blame you if you don’t, if you’ve seen one gosaner, you’ve seen them all. but this one, she’s a little special—not everyone went to several rehabilitation centers for an eating disorder, after all.

hwang aera constantly felt like a stranger in her own flesh, despising the image she came across in the mirror whenever she snuck a peek. she never had this problem until an innocent pair of velvet pointe shoes came into her life. aera devoted most of her life to ballet, doing anything she could to always be at the top of her high school class but it came with a price. she started with a small black book in her purse, writing down every little thing she ate. then came the numbers and constant calorie counting until it eventually become missed meals and constant trips to the bathroom. her devotion to ballet and competitive nature swallowed her whole, causing her to develop these habits all because whispers in the hall deemed that it was impossible for her to enter a decent company without shedding a few layers. her family noticed her slimming figure but never questioned it until one day her younger brother found her passed out in her bathroom floor, her skin cold to the touch. eventually aera recovered and was sent to a rehabilitation center. all she had to do was fake her true recovery and happiness in over to leave, right? she did her best to be convincing enough until she was released a few months later. her family kept her rehabilitation a secret (mainly due to the fact that they did not want her disorder to taint her future in ballet as well as her father’s name in the business world) and moved to quieter town. however this did not stop aera from continuing her habits and constantly visiting one rehabilitation center to another. it wasn’t until her parents decided that she needed to step away from ballet in order to truly recover. aera felt as if she was stripped from the things she loved the most and so she coped with her sadness by constantly partying, finding men who found her slim figure “beautiful” and sleeping with them to feel validated in her own skin.  

after a few years in recovery with the help of a therapist she felt like she was ready to start ballet again, begging her parents that this was the thing she wanted most in this world. although her parents were hesitant at first they eventually allowed their daughter to follow her dreams. aera is currently enrolled in gosan university and pursuing her degree in dance but little does her family know that she has fallen into her old habits once again. anything to be accepted into the top company, right?

hi! you can check here for some mwfs, but to add to it - i would also love to see lovelyz’s mijoo, yein, and jisoo, momoland’s ahin, jooe, and nancy, and snsd’s taeyeon, yuri, and tiffany! as for personalities, i feel like we have quite a bit of questionable personalities around, but i think what i want to see the most are hypocritical types. those with a hero complex and possibly looks down on their peers/think they’re better when they’re kind of sort of the same etc! but i also would love some new money trying to fit in with the crowd type tbh... guys, please state below what mwf/personality types you’d like to see here as well!
