so I was talking with my dad about Victorian medicine…
Me: I love how it says “not over eleven percent alcohol.” Like, ‘yeah, we’re selling you this cure-all tonic. Alcohol content? Uh…not over um…11%?’
Dad: that’s because they didn’t have reliable measuring tools.
M: yeah, I guess. And anything that wasn’t alcohol was radium water. Victorian medicines were basically 10% alcohol, 60% water, and 30% radium.
D: 30% RADIUM? Don’t you mean radium water?
M: no?..Like, radium dust?
D: that would be a solid. A solid brick of radium.
M: fine, then 10% radium dust!
D: that would be a sludge.
M: a sludge is still technically a tonic!
D: yeah, I guess…
M: Radium sludge with alcohol!

I need to see something.
Please reblog this and put in the tags if the surname "Donner" means anything to you (without looking it up first), and if it does, give one or two words that describe what you know. Please also include where you grew up, including the state if you grew up in the US.

The ides have arrived. The day has come. Watch your back, all, for I have multiple Roman daggers and a score to settle.

Homestuck OCs (4/4)
Orpheus Faraday: the bard of heart. He can influence others emotions on a massive scale with his music, which he creates using the legendary Lyre of Orpheus. He is torn between killing to aid his allies, and following his emotions and being merciful. He is self-conscious, and his bard crisis comes when his cousin Indigo dies on their quest bed, Carver having forgotten to tell him what godhood entails. He snapped and killed the creature that killed Indigo, as well as a bunch of their consorts. Carver managed to calm him down, and he also achieved godhood.

Homestuck OCs (3/4)
Indigo Laplace: the seer of space. They are a strange and spontaneous person, and love sailing. They lost their eye in a boating accident, but gain it back (sort of) when they ascend to godhood. They embody the theory of Laplace’s Demon, as they know the position and movement of everything in the universe, and can therefore predict the future. They can also teleport close objects short distances. They are unknowingly in a caliginous relationship with Carver.
