Disclaimer these are just a small sampling of some possible writer traits I’ve noticed either in myself or in fics I read. Also consider a rb for sample size !

if you're learning how to cook or branching out or feel like you just are not a very good cook or can't cook at all it is so important to know that when experienced cooks say they're measuring with their heart they are lying to you. They are measuring with their intuition, instinct, and experience, all of which are built by following recipes (written or taught by family), experimenting a lot, or some combination of the two: no matter how they learned, they learned it through cooking way more than you have. If you're trying to cook based on instinct or the assumption that you should just be able to figure it out and you don't like how your food comes out or you don't know where to start, find recipes and follow them to the letter. There is nothing wrong with looking up how to scramble eggs or make a stir fry. It will make your cooking better and easier, I promise.

I hear you with the deep voices and religious imagery and would recommand Rufus Wainwright, especially Gay Messiah anf Evil Angel but really everything :)
ngl i hold an irrational grudge against every human being who has ever tried to cover leonard cohen's hallelujah ... but maybe it's time to bury the hatchet and see what else he has to offer ?

hi, from the actual plot anon. yeah, i agree that the 1st book in the wolf series was considerably better than the rest. i think for me it was bc it had cooper formally assigned as a detective in the case using typical crime solving methods instead of him just stumbling across a corpse and asking around from friends and family. also i prefer developing relationships over established ones and there was so much time passing between the books that i feel like i missed out some things and convos i’d have wanted to see. i’d have liked if the ending of the 1st book would have been different so that cooper wouldn’t have started some sort of relationship with park already at that point and instead would have returned with his original partner and been forced to confront their wolf prejudice while meeting again with park bc some other crime. but i had tried several crime/mystery/wolves/shifters/sports/etc mm romance books where the topic is just very background stuff written in a very unconvincing way, so that wolf series def had higher quality than what i had expected. fully convinced my book finding problem wouldn’t exist if goodreads was owned by some people willing to create a proper search and filter function instead of amazon. anyway, i just started reading seven of spades by cordelia kingsbridge, which is another detective mm romance series that seems very promising at least after the first few chapters of the 1st book!
oooh hello again !!!
i def agree with a lot of what you pointed out. i'm not at all a werewolf gal so this series was very much an outlier for me: i have nothing to compare it to. i only read it cos someone i've followed on tumblr for a really really long time and whose book recs are always stellar (i got capri AND natasha pulley off of them and those are basically my two favs of all time) recced it REALLY highly. so i knew even if it wasn't necessarily my jam, it wouldn't be complete trash haha. and yeah, while pacing wise/plot wise re: the rest of the series it wasn't perfect... i did have a good time pretty much throughout and that was one was chef kiss so yeah i still rec them pretty highly too haha.
your ask is so perfectly timed though, i'm really struggling with trying to find something new to read that's gonna be gripping but won't require too much brain power rn so i'm gonna look into that seven of spades one. the title is familiar but i've never really looked into it.... so yeah, thanks :)
