Also update update update Warmth Beneath the Ice’s supernatural happenings have been scrapped, characters’ storylines have changed somewhat, way more OCs have been added, more players are in the main and supporting cast, and it’s now one era part of a longer, larger alternate hockey history timeline
(As an era, WBTI begins in the early 70s or so, and ends soon after the Miracle which still happens but with way different implications and behind-the-scenes meddling. Then there’s the 80s era, then the 90s era, then future stuff we haven’t developed much yet.)
That is what came out of this blog’s pinned post :)

ANNNNNDDDDD OTHER CHARACTERS AND STUFF
Alexander Gusev (Goose) is Effie. Of course he is. AND because I ship him with Vladimir Petrov (Vladik) who’s Haymitch so it’s CANON BY DEFAULT. Well in my AU as I ship Goose and Vladik with Lutchenko as well, it’s gonna be more like Haymitch/Effie/OC except ultra gay.
I know who Katniss is, but not Prim. Though Alina and a close friend of hers are PERFECT as Katniss and Prim respectively. Though also Alina is technically Enobaria as she won the 62nd Games and cause vibes(TM).
Viktor Tikhonov is Snow because IS ANYONE SURPRISED???
Vladimir Yurzinov is Plutarch because they lowkey look alike and also vibes.
Yuri Lebedev is a tribute in the 66th Games who becomes really close with Valeri Vasiliev (Lerik), except Lerik couldn’t save him in time... except Yuri actually isn’t dead, a gamemaker secretly spares his life at the last minute and has him sent to District 13 where he’ll reunite with Lerik and meet Varka later on in the story. So, it’s like, Cato/Clove/OC. Because, especially on an aesthetic level, Lerik and Varka vibe so well as Cato and Clove, one of my first comfort ships.
Annie Cresta’s and Johanna Mason’s counterparts are the same person. She’s an OC, and wins the 69th Games. When you get to know her you’ll understand why I gave her the Funny Number, though that’s not up to me to reveal, lol.
Karina is Foxface. :)
Vitaly is Brutus because that vibes and also he’s TOTALLY Lerik’s mentor.
I should not have to elaborate why Sergei Fedorov is a perfect Finnick so I won’t. This post is getting really long anyways lol sorries
I FORGOT ONE OTHER HOCKEY VICTOR I AM SO SORRY. WILL EDIT THE ORIGINAL POST. Vladimir Konstantinov won the 53rd Games :)
Extremely upset atm so to distract myself I will share all the hockey players who are victors in my Hunger Games AU. (Most if not all their surnames are changed, but i’ll use their real ones here to avoid confusion.)
On the Miracle roster:
Slava Fetisov (70th Games)
Valeri Vasiliev (66th Games)
Alexander Golikov (64th Games)
Valeri Kharlamov (63rd Games)
Vladimir Petrov (50th Games. he’d make a fabulous Haymitch)
Outside the Miracle roster:
Alexei Kovalev (74th Games, with [REDACTED])
Andrei Khomutov (72nd Games)
Sergei Fedorov (65th Games, cause he IS FINNICK)
Darren McCarty (61st Games)
Nicklas Lidstrom (58th Games)
Vladimir Lutchenko* (51st Games)
Vitaly Davydov (45th Games)
Gordie Howe (25th Games, yes he gets a quarter quell)
Anatoly Tarasov (23rd Games)
ANDDDD my hockey OCs (well not all of them are players lol):
Varvara “Varka” Grushetskaya (68th Games)
Karina Nesterova (67th Games)
Alina Borgova (62nd Games)
Vasilisa “Sunset” Stelletskaya (44th Games)
*He was on the roster that played that February 9 exhibition game against the Americans, but not the Olympic roster.
I actually have a lot more victors decided but they’re either more OCs or for other fandoms.

AU in which Valeri Kharlamov (Valia) and his wife (assume he’s always paired with Karina, one of my OCs, in my fics) are Resonants. They’re still killed in the 1981 car crash, but their souls survive. Two unidentified Ascians inhabit Valia’s and Karina’s bodies and thus impersonate them for clout, but the rest of the hockey family can tell it isn’t really their friends - as relieved as they’d like to be that their friends supposedly survived the crash. Meanwhile, the souls of the real Valia and Karina escape the crash and find the Ascians who have possessed their bodies. Valia is reluctant to fight, but Karina convinces him to throw hands with the Ascians with her. They do regain possession of their bodies, much to the joy of the hockey family as soon as they’re convinced it’s actually their friends this time.
