Beauty.

It’s funny from 2020 I had a list of all the things I needed from treatments to shoes, furniture etc. I of course didn’t plan for the interference I’d receive from instagram etc so I wasn’t really able to get anything at all let alone a home to live in and a car like I had planned since my teens as an entrepreneur.

Having said that, despite the long list of products and things I’d shortlisted I didn’t actually have a set in stone idea of what I needed / wanted close to the ground. For example I’ve always been quite specific about what makeup I use and never really know what I need or want beyond my basic selection.

In 2022 I had income coming in but I was so stressed and concerned about the state of my life and the landscape that other than paying bills and rent I completely mismanaged what I had. I didn’t have a real plan of where I wanted to start with what I needed closer to home. I didn’t know what cleansers I needed for example because drug store ones barely worked and other than one or two I knew of again it was all up in the air!

By 2023, money disappeared again and free time went up. I’ve spent the year applying for things of course (longest wait for the right roles ever) and I’ve also been trying to fix health issues (like my destroyed under arm micro biome from laser hair removal). Alongside that and research into topics, business etc I researched products!

The “influencer” field to me was a mess, there was so many of them, and also absolutely random people putting face cream on and filming themselves showering and putting clothes on. I didn’t trust any of them because they just seemed erratic and trying all these products back to back to back. This meant I still didn’t know wth to get to expand my makeup and beauty selections. And I wasn’t near any high end stores anymore. Finally one day I said fxck this, and I went on YouTube and went straight to Vogue Beauty.

I then watched more or less every single episode of every single person I could find that looked interesting and took notes. I looked at how the products sat on their faces, how they applied them and what they said. I then observed the products that would come up over and over again in their routines, from different backgrounds, skin types etc. After I was finished, I had a long, still complicated and broad but definite list.

I would also visit the sites of designer beauty companies and drug stores back to back looking at all their prices, products and brushes. Trying to work out what would work for me. I also bought one or two things out of what I had. That has been good to trial and test, good old sales!

Then finally, I found the beautiful Allyiah, a blogger on YouTube based in Atlanta. I’d just keep her episodes sometimes on in the background and look up when I could see her applying product. Even though she blogs beauty (well all product now), she tends to stick to her main products which I like and which work for her. I also liked some of the products from a beautiful Estée Lauder getaway she was flown to.

So essay over. It’s basically a celebratory post to say I finally know exactly what I want to use. Some pieces from my own knowledge of brands I’ve come across over the years too of course. But I finally have a full combination in mind! I’m ready!

So mentally, I finally have a base and my actual beauty routine back in tact, even down to my new local hairstylist, basically…Monique is back. The only thing missing now is the money to buy and book everything 😂

Whilst I was learning I stayed humble. I provided an example to whomever was around me of what a good person is, I was open about God and my NOW UNFORTUNATE relationship with him. But I showed you how I did it. I shared books I read, things I studied.

I invested in nice clothes because I have good style and it’s my profession I have to advertise my skill.

Now I’m of age and I’ve learnt everything I needed and wanted to learn the gloves are off. I’m worth what I’m worth and it can’t be duplicated or replicated.

No more humility and everyone that backstabbed me can stay the fxck away from me for the rest of my life.
