Here he is. The bully boy turned cop. The character I dislike the most. Teddy.

Teddy started off as your typical elementary school bully, with Sweetheart by his side even at a young age. The rest of Sweatheart's friends never liked or trusted Teddy much, despite occasionally putting aside their differences for Sweetheart's sake. Teddy grew to study law enforcement in university and emerged out the other side as a fully fledged police officer. Suffice to say he's burned all his bridges with childhood friends, save for Ace, who tries to talk sense into him from time to time.

Remember when Sweetheart and Teddy broke up and Patch was there to comfort her? Sweetheart had told Patch that messing with Teddy wasn't worth it. However, outraged that Sweetheart had been treated this way for so long, Patch later confronted Teddy. One black eye and a few scrapes later, Teddy promised to never go anywhere near Sweetheart again.

After fighting with Patch, word spread of Teddy's injuries and Ace saw fit to try and talk to Teddy in the hopes of convincing him to recognize the harm in his actions and own up to his past wrongdoings. No success. Teddy is just as stubborn and hardheaded as ever, and you can't change ponies that don't want to change themselves.

My Little Pony Tales;Princess Problems. (9 October 1992)

Introducing the first original character designed for MMLPTales, Paisley! Paisley is quite rough-and-tumble, loves roughhousing and sports, and is very bold.

Paisley was surrendered to the Ponyland Foal's home as a newborn. Nothing is really known about why she ended up there, but she's never really wondered. She's perfectly happy with her parents, Ace and Fleur. She was adopted as a filly after being paired with Patch for the Big Brother/Big Sister program Patch started at the foal's home. Paisley still really looks up to Patch and considers her a big sister!

While excelling in physical activities, Paisley isn't much of an academic. She struggles with writing, math, science... Almost everything that involves numbers or letters. Starlight is her teacher, and has had quite a few talks with Paisley regarding her low grades. Starlight wants to help, but Paisley shuts down, frustrated and angry that she can't seem to get things right, no matter how hard she tries.

However, she does have a natural affinity for building things. She especially loves to learn about historical manufacturing and enjoys looking at design schematics for things like catapults and trebuchets. She's even built a few scale model kits. Her best friend, a donkey named Whirligig, also has a passion for building, and even inventing. Together, Paisley and Whirligig will draw up all kinds of new contraptions, feasible or not, and sometimes even get to the point of building them! Whirligig is a lot better at math and writing that Paisley is, so he'll try to give her help when he sees she needs it. Paisley doesn't like asking for help, though. She's very prideful that way, and when she sees others doing well at something she just can't understand, she blames herself and thinks that she's doing something wrong. Whirli tries his best to sneak in little lessons regarding topics she struggles with here and there without her catching on.

Introducing: Fleur!! You may recognize her, she was in the show. She just looks a little different now.

When Fleur was young, her friends once said to her “you always side with the girls.” Turns out, that was true in multiple ways! Fleur began her transition after high school with the support of the other girls, who also introduced her to the Ponyland Pride celebration. Her absentee parents were often away on lavish “business trips” and so didn’t learn of her changes until they were well underway. Her parents’ reaction can be summed up as “whatever,” which was fine by Fleur. Today, she’s wife to Ace and mother to their adopted daughter, Paisley. She still gets on with her family’s wealth but isn’t shy to share it.

Growing up, Fleur had begun to feel different partway through elementary school. She dismissed the feelings as merely having strong crushes on the other girls in her class, but as she aged, the feelings she had got more prevalent and confusing. After graduating high school, she contacted Bright Eyes and asked if she could come over to hang out. Bright Eyes was a bit surprised by this as Fleur hadn’t asked to spend time with her since the roller skating contest, when the two were fostering a relationship, as well as two little ponies can. When Fleur came over, she was visibly nervous and after taking a deep breath, told Bright Eyes that she was the smartest pony she knew, so maybe she had the answers she was looking for. As the two lounged about and discussed Fleur’s concerns, Bright Eyes brought up something she had learned during Ponyland Pride. Fleur’s eyes lit up, and the two looked into the topic with great interest, and for Fleur, relief.

Some time later, Fleur had openly begun to embrace who she really was. With encouragement, especially from Patch and Clover, she attended her first Pride event. She met so many different kinds of ponies, some like her, and some not like her at all. And what a wonderful thing it was!

Fleur attended university to study archaeology, making good use of her parents’ enormous collection of books spanning back generations. She hopes to become a museum curator and educator once earning her doctrate, but she chose to take a break partway through the program. During that time, she was contacted by Ace, a childhood friend of hers that she hadn’t seen since high school. The two arranged to meet up, and upon reconnecting, the two of them felt some new feelings bubbling up inside them that they didn’t quite understand at first. In time, their relationship blossomed, progressed, and now they are one of Ponyland’s most beloved families with their daughter Paisley.

Thankfully, all the girls were fairly understanding. As Patch put it, “you were like, 10 years old dude.” Now, he coaches the school soccer team! The very same team he played for when he was young.

I’M STILL HERE

Ace grew up as a bit of a bully, egged on especially by his friend Teddy. As a result, he hurt a lot of feelings, some more emotional than others, and lost a lot of ponies whom he considered to be friends over it. With age he saw Teddy’s belligerence much more clearly, and recognized the same within himself. He began to take steps to change his patterns of behaviour and mend the bridges he broke. Ace is one of the few ponies that knew Teddy in his youth that still talks to him.

After college, he began to rekindle the connection he had with a childhood friend. She had changed a lot since he had last seen her, but ultimately, he ended up falling for her. Fleur is Ace’s wife of 2 years, and together they adopted a filly named Paisley from the care home that Patch was adopted from. Patch still acts as a big sister to Paisley, which is fine by Ace as it’s easy to find someone to watch the kid if need be.

Paisley is exceptional at sports, namely soccer, which Ace is especially proud of. She plays on the soccer team he coaches, and she’s every bit as passionate as Ace was at her age. Maybe even more!

BonBon IS baking cookies, girls.

BonBon owns her own bakery in Ponyland called, of course, BonBon’s Bakery! It’s a very successful business and she’s only just begun hiring more bakers to help her out. She was becoming quite overworked being the sole baker, finding it hard to keep up with demand. Her first hired employee was Spinner, the pony that she participated in the rollerskating competition with when they were in elementary school. Though most of her time is still spent at the bakery, she’s managed to finally have some much-earned relief from the pressure of being the only one running the business.

BonBon has become a big advocate of self-love and acceptance since her youth. As a filly, she held dreams of becoming a fashion model; a desire that she was often ashamed of and kept secret from her friends. Growing up and going through high school and college, she began to realize that her dream stemmed from a desire to fit into societies expectations for traditional female beauty. She didn’t really want to be a model, she just saw it as what she should want to be. She was always the rounder member of her friend group, and was often made fun of for her love of food. But, since then she’s come to embrace her body as it is, love herself a lot more, and become a supporter of body acceptance for all types of ponies! Being pansexual, she’s also a lover of all types of bodies!

Also her baking is really really good. BonBon is still baking cookies, girls. And cinnamon rolls.

Clover is a small, meek little pony. While they’ve grown to overcome their clumsiness, they haven’t grown much physically! Clover has pretty much stayed foal-sized, even though they are now an adult. After performing as the harlequin in The Nutcracker, Clover had zero desire to ever dance on stage again. The ordeal of being so stressed that they lost their memory was just too much. Now, Clover works at the local greenhouse, and has discovered they have quite the green thumb (hoof?)!

Clover is nonbinary, discovering this after attending a Ponyland Pride celebration with Patch. They had never realized that there was a label for how they felt about themself, and since then has fully adopted the identity.

Clover has many plants of their own, loving and caring for each one and tending to their needs to make them thrive. They love seeing a sad plant perk up and blossom. It’s almost as though they see themself in the plants; a being that can reach their full potential if they’re nurtured and given the proper support.

Although ballet is no longer what Clover does or wants to do, they still feel that they fall into the shadow of their sister, Meadowlark. Meadowlark is tall, graceful, beautiful, and now has a family of her own. The only reason Clover ever really wanted to do ballet was because they thought its what their parents wanted. Their parents were so proud of Meadowlark and her success, Clover believed that they’d get the same support if they went out for ballet, too. But Clover didn’t enjoy it, was clumsy and fell a lot, and was too nervous to perform most of the time. Clover’s father was never one to force his children to do something that didn’t make them happy, but Clover’s mother didn’t hide her disappointment very well. Even now, Mrs. Bloom clearly spotlights Meadowlark a lot more often than Clover, but Clover is living on their own now and takes solace in their plants and gets plenty of love and support from their friends.

PATCH! My favourite.

Patch is the biggest member of her friend group, in turn the physically strongest. She came out as a lesbian in high school and prides herself in being a bit of a ladykiller. As a career, she works in construction and carpentry, taking on small home repair jobs outside of bigger projects.

Patch is the founder of the “Big Sister Program” at the local foal’s home, where she lived as a young foal before being adopted. The program pairs adult ponies that were adopted themselves with young foals waiting to find their own family. The older ponies act as big siblings and mentors to the young ones, offering support and reassurance to them. Patch was initially paired with a young filly named Paisley, who would go on to be adopted by Patch’s friends, Ace and Fleur. Paisley still looks up to Patch a great deal and considers her a big sister.

In her youth, Patch encountered a UFO while flying in a hot air balloon that she commandeered from her school yard. The UFO was actually a group of glowing, magical ponies with wings. Though Bonbon was with her, Patch was the only one to actually witness and even speak to the flying ponies. Since then she’s dedicated a decent chunk of her free time to finding them again, scanning the night sky with her telescope and even going on excursions around Ponyland, searching for vantage points where she could potentially see them. She’s been written off as a crackpot conspiracy theorist by most, though a few of her friends do see the genuine passion in her eyes when she talks about the incident.
