The Peach Pit S3 Ep. 1: Strangers on a Lane

We're back, baby! It's a full crew to kick things off; expect spoilers below! This week, to celebrate the start of the third season of the podcast, here's three different fun facts:

1.) Freddie picked the name for this season's aftershow; it's the name of the bar in the TV show 90210. 2.) Will assigned everybody homework before this season started! He asked everybody to read "The Fifties" by David Halberstam as preparation. 3.) Beth has a bumper sticker on her car that reads, "Mothman ate my entire ass at a Denny's." It was a gift from Anthony.

General Opinions:

Freddie said this was a banger start to the season, and everybody agreed! Matt thought it was great, and Will, although nervous to start, was pleased with how things went.

Favorite Moments

Both Freddie and Anthony's favorite moments were some of Matt's jokes-- Anthony thought Matt's wifebeater joke was hilarious.

Beth, continuing the trend of dark humor, loved Freddie's comment on drunk driving just being normal driving because it's the 50's. (Bonus fact: Will looked up the statutes in Nebraska, and in that time period drunk driving was legitimately not a crime!)

Matt's favorite moment was when the group initially met the tough teens, and he took a moment to appreciate Will's patience with them for the entire sequence of them collectively dunking on Italians. He also loved Freddie's (failed) attempt to backhand a child, which he felt really set the tone for the insanity that was the accepted norms of the 50's.

Will's favorite moments were when both Matt and Beth had their characters (almost literally) growl at members of their respective families, as well as Beth's mumbled "one... nine...five..." as she pretended to take down the address while on the phone.

Misc. Other Comments

Will felt like he over-prepared for Fetch Quest, so while he's done a lot of research into the 50's for this season he's embraced the idea that the story is found in the journey. He has a few things in mind that he really wants to get to, but otherwise he's happy to let everybody tack on a few unexpected detours along the way.

Everybody is thrilled to be back in the Call of Cthulhu system! Matt in particular talked about how a lot of his ideas for Kelsey's character came from the character creation process Call of Cthulhu uses, and Freddie said it's easier for him to keep track of all his action options in this system compared to DnD Beyond.

Making the monster Mothman was a spur of the moment decision by Will, and was in no small part inspired by Beth hoping it would be Mothman and by a Mothman sticker she had on her laptop that Will noticed during the recording.
