Yoali jumped from the third step of the stairs to the ground, he was carrying only water in his bagpack and decided to leave enough space in it so he could bring cool stuff from the trip.

“YES! Vamonos, vamonos ya!” He cheered, pouncing all the way to the entrance and going to tackle Ollin outside. “Got’chu!”

Mix smiled at Yun and lowered to look into his eyes, signing back at him while mouthing the words as well. Lip reading would help him a lot in the future. “No siempre puedes posponer las cosas Yun. Será divertido ya lo verás. Vamos a ver muchas cosas cool.” 

Ollin licked Yoali’s face, letting out happy barks and waggling his tail, jumping to get the little boy on his back, bouncing excitedly, ready to leave at Mixcoatl’s command. 

“Be careful!” Naran said, running behind Yoali. He didn’t want their trip to be cut short just because Yaoli was being crazy and got hurt or something. This had to be the perfect trip and they had to listen to Dad’s indications. “You have to wait, Yaol” 

Esta bien Yunuen signed, pouting a little. It’s not like his dad or brothers’ would understand, when Yunuen thought about telling them it felt like he was complaining about something small. He was supposed to be tougher, like Yaoli and resilient like Naran. He grabbed his bagged, where he packed water and snacks and a set of extra batteries for his hearing aids. Then he grabbed his dad’s hand, squeezing it a little.

“Listo para irnos, patron?” Ollin said playfully, letting out a happy awoo.

Mixcoatl was standing barefoot at the doorframe, the entrance wide open as the two members of the pack were waiting outside, sniffing around and enjoying the feeling of the early moring dew on their paws.

It was very early, the sun wasn’t out yet but it wouldn’t take long to starting rising. He had woken up the boys as it was their first field trip. Most of them had been excited all week as they knew the day was today. It would be something level A as they were still pups and it was so just their bodies could meet their territory, his feet could get used to the dirt and their eyes to the woods. Introducing them to what would be theirs eventually as so they could see the pack (or part of it) in motion, understand a bit more who they were and what they were.

“Boys, you don’t need to bring anything extra. We’re waiting!”

Naran was beyond excited. The first hunt was an important rite of passage and he was ready to learn everything that his dad and the pack had to teach him. He had studied the maps of the forest with diligence, read theory about what it took to explore the woods and was certain that he would do great. It wouldn’t be easy, of course but he was ready to face the challenge, had prepared for what would go wrong so when his dad called, he was the first to arrive, ready with a backpack with water and a first aid kit and a map and snacks and a sweater and a raincoat just in case. 

Yunuen on the other hand, wasn’t as excited to go. He liked being outside but he didn’t like that he had to wear his hearing aids as using them could be really tiring and overwhelming. He’d much rather stay at home, play some videogames. In those he could explore places without his hearing aids and always got a good score. This new thing was....A little scary. Specially because it seemed to mean so much to Dad. 

De veras tenemos que ir hoy? Yunuen signed, once he made it to the door. Yo digo que mejor mañana. O pasado mañana. O la proxima semana.

He moved his glass, the crimson liquid swirling around as he leaned just a little closer, lips turning into a smile as his eyes wandered through his face, taking in his light blue eyes, the perfect line of his nose, how the light hit his cheekbones, the beauty of his lips. How he wanted to kiss them, taste the wine from the other’s mouth, for his hands to make his way into the perfect hair and mess it up, pull him closer by the hips, take apart the expensive suit and explore every inch of his skin.

“It’s been a long time, Adonai” He spoke, voice just a little raspy. He finally took a sip of the wine, his eyes still looking at the other man as he licked his lips, setting the glass down on the table. “To what do I owe the honor.” He said, finally looking away, eyes scanning the private room at the elegant restaurant, at the man standing at the door, assessing how heavily armed they could be, still unsure of how much he should trust the other. “Or...” He looked back at Adonai, daring as ever, his hand landing on the other man’s thigh, going up just a little. “Did you simply miss me?”

Tezcatlipoca hesitates, thinking that perhaps is best if they go back to their room, knowing that perhaps Huitzi wants to be alone or at least maybe not alone with just them. But going back to stare at the ceiling of their bedroom isn’t that appealing either.

“Thanks.” Tezca mumbles, making their way towards one of the kitchen’s stools, struggling a bit to sit with their grown belly. “What is keeping you up so late?” They ask, once they managed to sit, reaching for one of the panes dulces on the little basket resting on the counter.
