Did you write the song, thinking about your first love? Well... I think i was right, juding from your reaction. Can you tell us about your first love? My first love? Well… There was a sudden rain shower on the day I saw her for the first time. She put a yellow umbrella over me with a smile. I couldn't breathe because my heart was fluttering. As if… I forgot how to breathe.

Lovely Runner, ep 5
We finally see what happened to Sol in the OG timeline with the accident. Sun Jae saved her and helped catch the taxi guy. Which solidifies my thought that taxi driver guy was the one who killed Sun Jae. It also means that Sol’s mom kept the truth about the accident from her since Sol seems to be shocked that it was not a car accident. I don’t know how it was kept from her. Wouldn’t the police need to talk to her?
In the OG timeline there’s also a very clear shot of the watch and the time so it must be important and tied to Sol’s incident and Sun Jae’s death.
Interesting that as soon as Sun Jae saved her in the second timeline and she goes back to the future, her teen self forgets Sun Jae.
I have a theory that second timeline Sun Jae pieced together that she was from the future. So when she “forgets” him he knows it’s not his Sol. He’s been waiting for her to come back to him. Which is why on the bridge he says she hasn’t changed. Because she is the Sol he’s been waiting for.
I don’t know what that dream Sol had means since it’s not the same as either timeline’s version of when she was kidnapped. In the new present day timeline there is a difference in how long it’s been since Sol was kidnapped - her mom says 14 years when Sol thinks it should have been 15 years. Something is off there. It’s January 2023 now but in the OG timeline when Sun Jae dies, was it 2024? I can’t remember.
I think we are going to stay in present day for a while. The watch seems to be missing for Sol now anyway for the time being. I do think taxi driver guy will play a role. If he’s been in jail for 13-14 years, I wonder if he’s coming to the end of his sentence and will be released.
Looking forward to present day Sun Jae and Sol.

I actually enjoyed the final episode of Queen of Tears. Which is surprising since given how much I hated ep 15 and was lukewarm to ep 13 & 14. Ep 15 somehow broke me with how much it wanted to me accept and look past lol.
Not to say ep 16 didn't have the same need to look past things but it was somehow more acceptable. Maybe because Eun Sung was finally killed off in the first 10 minutes.
I am a bit frustrated we never really got to know the motivations of Moh Seul Hee. Just because she wanted Queen's Group doesn't seem to be enough of a reason. The woman abandoned her son at an orphanage. She killed Hae In's brother and tried to kill Hae In at the same. She then when on to play a long con game of 20+ years (also presumably never trying to kill Hae In or even Soo Cheol within that time). But my question remains to WHY.
Similarly, I am disappointed that the miscarriage was never properly addressed. Yes, Hae In remembered it and we got to see a bit more of what happened at the time but other than that nothing. I guess though with Hae In not fully remembering everything they can't really address it anyway.
Oddly, Hae In not regaining her memory in full is one thing I appreciated. Of all the things they wanted me to accept about her mysterious illness, her not getting her memory back after surgery is the most plausible. Still, I have a personal head cannon that she does regain more of her memory after time but not fully.
I do like that Hae In and Hyun Woo finally discussed what broke down their marriage (outside of the miscarriage) which was lack of communication and letting little things fester. They at least have a clear vision for where they want to go in the future. I also liked that they are taking it slow, as Hae In is still getting to know Hyun Woo.
I'm happy for them that they finally got their much wanted child. Not quite sure we needed to see Hyun Woo, years in the future visiting Hae In's grave though I do like how they always returned to Germany. Still it's one of the more normal endings for this writer out of the dramas I've watched of hers.

Queen of Tears really just took a sharp nosedive off a very steep cliff these past 3 episodes. I didn't post anything about the last two episodes since there was nothing to say. I've had issues with some aspects of the drama that I could overlook because Hae In and Hyun Woo were top tier stuff. The break down of a marriage of two people who loved one another finding their way back to each other through medical crisis was so good. It didn't even need the Eun Sung or the family business stuff (it would have made a tighter, more coherent drama but I digress). But the last 3 or so episodes I've lost all patience. We've had:
Hae In's miraculous brain surgery which required no shaving of the hair, which I can overlook because it is a drama. Her memory loss too, as again, it's a drama and it's been hinted at since the beginning. I'm not necessarily thrilled with it but it's fine.
There is no way that Eun Sung would have suddenly become her legal guardian just because Hyun Woo left. It makes NO SENSE. Hae In was clearly there with Hyun Woo. They met with her doctors. There would have been forms and documents signed, with appropriate translators for any language barriers. Eun Sung would not have been able to waltz in and say I am her guardian now. I'm fairly confident of this even without knowing German law.
Hae In's family had people in Germany following her for...reasons??? They did nothing to protect her from Eun Sung? They didn't go to her when Hyun Woo was carted off? To be fair I was kinda fast forwarding part so maybe I missed something.
Hyun Woo's arrest, extradition back to South Korea, finding the evidence to break his case, trail, release and then arrest of the real perpetrator all took place within a month. Which seems absurdly fast. Also they found and arrested the hired hit man but not who hired him??
Hae In is following Hyun Woo, taking notes to figure stuff out for herself yet does not think to look herself up on the internet? Pretty sure there would have been articles about her saying Eun Sung threatened her?
I generally forgive the burned notebook finding its way back to her.
Also, Hyun Woo's sister is married? With a kid? Living overseas?? and we find this out in ep 13 or 14? No pictures of her kid anywhere?? No phone call?
Hyun Woon has been hit by car, by Eun Sung because of course that happened. At least he won't get amnesia, right? RIGHT?
Tumblr media
What a mess.
I still stand by the core story of Hyun Woo and Hae In being the strongest parts, even within the past 3 episodes.
How much do you want to bet they are not even going to address the miscarriage, which was catalyst for their whole marriage falling apart in the final episode. Despite the 1031 being used for pass codes. I've been wanting that from when we found out and it looks like it won't happen. Who knows if Hae In will even get her memory back.
The preview for the final episode doesn't give me much hope, even if we get a nearly 2 hr final episode like Crash Landing on You.
So much wasted potential in the drama. If only they had focused on Hae In and Hyun Woo, and not 20+ other plots.

Can't wait to see modern day Sun Jae, K-pop idol at the peak of his popularity and the world at his feet, revert back to his hot mess loser self once Sol comes back into his life, like some sort of insane comet of longing and awkwardness.
