After a few rewatches, I think I can say that Smile is definitely my favourite of series 10.
I know that the finale has more drama and reveals and such and such but this one feels so much more...hopeful. Despite everything, that happens, there's a happy ending, in a place that represents so much for the human race after the end of the world.
Plus there's the setting - it looks like such a nice place! Sunny and warm; I always get wistful for summer when I watch this one.
Then there's the Doctor and Bill - their relationship is wonderful already and it's only Bill's first outing into the universe. If I were making a story featuring these two I'd use this ep as a basis. It's a proper fun romp.
I guess it just really makes me...smile. 🙂

a very major part of being in the doctor who fandom is watching critics say that “doctor who has become too political” or “doctor who has become woke” as if it wasn’t political the last ten times they said that

This is why I love Bill
She asks the real questions
People don’t generally bring that up.

Finally finished my portrait of the twelfth doctor :D
This piece was largely inspired by that one post with the 9th doctor absolutely slaying in the background while rose watches the destruction of (earth?).
I actually enjoyed this piece so much, I'm going to have a little print made for myself. If anyone else would like one let me know :D

Have I ever mentioned that I have a little thing about trains? It resurfaced a bit lately, so I drew this - it's an idea I've had for a while.
The Doctor decides they need a holiday, so they aim the TARDIS at the beach....so, of course, it misses and ends up at a preserved narrow gauge railway.

I've been really getting into these minicomics lately, they're fun to draw.
So this bit is where he officially finds out that Lorin and Riley are dating, when beforehand they've been through in their lives. So he's happy for them, and decides to leave them to it.
For this one I should note that this Doctor is pretty easy on the whole "no hanky-panky jn the TARDIS" rule...so easy that he completely ignores it.
at this point the doctor's gone through everything that can possibly happen with his companions, so that's why he's so easy with it

This looks so much better altogether, it looks so un-detailed when I have to crop it up...
After regenerating in a ward, the new Messy Doctor decided to explore the strange goings on in the hospital he has found himself in, with the help of his new friend, Deon. People are going missing - the doctors, the patients, the admin staff, everyone. But when he finds out what is causing them, he cannot believe what he sees...
