My family and I used to spend every 4th of July on the beach. But as the sun set, we would have to leave as that was a signal that fireworks would soon start.

We couldn’t watch fireworks because my brother is Autistic. The sounds of fireworks were much louder to him and caused an overload in senses that were unbearably uncomfortable. So we would take him home where the sounds were much quieter.

As the 4th of July approaches, I find myself thinking about how similar the sound of fireworks and bombs. However, there is the comfort of knowing the fireworks are being pointed away from us. How the sound is dulled as it is shot far away from us in the skies.

And I think about how the opposite happening is happening in Palestine.

Knowing that the bombing, the loud noises, are intended to be as close as possible.

I think about the Autistic children and adults, who are living in constant sensory overload. I think about their family members living right next to them, knowing they can’t comfort them. Living in such close spaces where you can’t get away from the noise.

What always makes me the most sick when thinking about those in Rafah is that there is nowhere to go. Nothing to do, but sit and wait and hope they outlive the bombs, no matter the circumstances they are living in. There is no choice but to endure.

Update 4/6/24 : My Child Magid got Hospitalized He suffered from severe Gastroenteritis, and it kept getting worse , vomiting and diarrhea .. His tiny body couldn't take it . The doctor said he lost almost 9 Pounds ! And blamed us for not bringing him sooner . We had to put him on IV because of dehydration.. my poor child is asthmatic as well so it took a toll on him . UPDATE: Khan Younis Camps

Due to the continuous assault in Rafah, Hussam and his family were forced to leave their home and live in a tent near Khan Yonis. It's a desert-like climate with barely any internet, so communication and just basic living is quite hard, and we haven't been able to hear much from Hussam himself for a little while. A couple days ago, though, we were finally able to communicate with him.

Throughout these past few months, Hussam had been offering his land and providing care by purchasing food and supplies, with even toys for children. He's been offering his help for his people for months, even through this harsh winter and now summer, let alone the continuous assault on the Gaza Strip. Thankfully, even now, Hussam was able to purchase a watertruck for people in Khan Younis camps!

When sorrow and difficulties strike hard, hope becomes the lone star in the dark sky. This is the story of Amira, a 23-year-old girl who found herself bearing the burden of her family after her father's death three years ago due to the coronavirus.

After my father's passing, I found myself taking care of my family, consisting of my mother, sister Noor, and brother Abdulrahman. My mother, suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes, faces health problems that further complicate their situation. But courage and determination drive Amira forward.

I worked as a teaching assistant at the university while pursuing a master's degree in data science, and also worked as a programmer in a company. My life was going smoothly until war came and destroyed everything.

My university, workplace, and home were completely destroyed, forcing them to flee south in search of a safe haven. Now, I and my family live in tents for displaced people in Deir al-Balah, where they suffer from water shortages and the spread of diseases, posing an additional challenge, especially for my immunocompromised mother.

This is a brief about our daily suffering.
