rachel didn’t start drawing till middle school when the visions and creatures got to be too much. her therapist recommended it to her to relieve stress and anxiety. her first drawing was stupidly bad. mainly because, she thought it was not worth it but she came back to it a few months later when she couldn’t handle it anymore. she slowly progressed and it made life easier even if she sucked. in 7th grade she took two art classes, one for painting and the other 3d art. In one she fell in love with painting, specifically oil paints, because she could work on it as slowly as she wanted. with her oil paints and visions became more detailed, the more beauty but also deep horror she expressed in them.

rachel dare wasn’t a protege but she was something with a paint brush.

can we talk about the times when the pjo fandom all hated rachel just for having a crush?

i seriously cherish percy and rachel's relationship. you can't tell me rachel didn't offer to stay up on the phone with percy whenever he was having a hard time falling asleep. you can't tell me percy didn't help keep rachel's sanity intact everytime she saw a monster or had an eerily realistic nightmare about a war breaking out in the near future. you can't tell me rachel didn't help percy regulate his breathing when he had panic attacks in the janitor's closet of their school. you can't tell me percy didn't paint canvases with rachel to alleviate her stress whenever she and her dad had an argument about her passion for art. you can't tell me rachel didn't let percy vent about how he feels like the weight of the world rests on his shoulders all of the time. i think it makes complete sense why these two had crushes on each other: because they genuinely cared about one another. percy and rachel may not have had a long-lasting romantic connection, but i'm a firm believer these two stayed close friends throughout the rest of their lives.

all i can imagine is percy opening up about the prophecy and ‘asleep’ faintly playing in the background. percy is crying while she is just holding him.

i enjoy how in the percy jackson fandom whenever the demigods are being drawn they are given outfits and accesories that play homage to their godly parent (e.g nico with ghouly tshirt motifs, percy with shell bracelets) when in canon these demigods are wearing an assortment of shirts and pants that they find at the bottom of a bargain bin at target, whatever that has not been destroyed in the recent war or camp shirt.

what do you think it would have been like if Percy never Rachel? because lets be honest she carries so much plot on her shoulders

i have no idea, to be completely honest. like, percy and rachel meeting the way they did in ttc is what influenced rachel to follow him at the beginning of tbotl. him knowing that rachel could see through the mist is what influenced his decision to take her into the labyrinth. rachel being there to hit the titan lord in the dace with a blue, plastic, hair brush is what disoriented kronos so the gang could run away. rachel is an extremely important character and it's hard to say how successful any of the demigods would have been without her.
