Title: Inbetween first attempts on sculpting heads and legs and googleing boobs. Yes…I had to google boobs. I mean I own one set of them my own, but do you thing because of that it was easier for me sculpting them 😅😂?! No definitely not 😂😭. But that aside. Yes I’m working on an msd, too. I started working on her as I started working on my Chibi (aka Shihó). As Shihó is really small, I always needed something bigger to work on, when I needed some time off of Shihó. As I recently hit a point on making that Chibi, where I can’t quite jump over, because I’ve not got the right idea to solve my problem, I picked Kuro (the one you see here) up more often. As I’m proceeding with everything I learned alot, but also have to start from scratch again. I didn’t thought that sculpting parts I habe on my body, too, like boobs, legs or a nose, are so hard to sculpt. Maybe I’m just a slow learner and someday along the way I will create a complete doll. Until than I hope you can bear with my no ending wips 😂!
Kuro is, as Shihó, too, one of my OCs (you can see her on the last picture). Kuro has a sister, but I wanted to sculpt Kuro first, because she’s supposed to have dropped shoulders and I wanted to see, if I could do that. As I was adding the shoulder joints, her droppiness goes slightly away…maybe I can fix that, or I will use that body for her sister instead. In the mean time I will continue to work on Kuro and Shihó 💪!

Today marks the day I finally got time to work on this lil one again! So much time passed… my goal to see her 2016 in resin is more than expired…I wished I had more time to work on her, but life keeps stealing time, …so I’m happy I finally had some time to work on her again. I changed her mouth a lil and worked on her body. It’s difficult to get that lil body jointed and I really struggle with that, but that’s also a fact why it is so interesting to work on her. I’m forced to rethink my plan for her joints everytime I see, that the joint, I thought would work, isn’t working and that makes fun! Yes it’s devastating when you have to rethink your plan for the 3rd time, but when the joints finally work, that’s such a good feeling! Love it and I still can’t wait to see her in resin 😅!

So now she looks this way.
I tested out some primer. The tricky thing with payperclay is, that when you need to add just a little more on one point and wet it, you might damage an already good part. That’s why the primer. Now I can make the headcap even and put wet joints in the body without worrying to have to reshape again.
At this point I really have to say, that monster clay would have been better for such a small scale. I think this wouldn't be so fragile like paperclay...but I can be wrong! For now I will use paperclay until the end and for the next sculpting project, I decided to try monster clay :3!

She started to look like my first OC Shihó, so I thought why not giving Shihó the chance on becoming a doll :3. I originally wanted a chibi wolfy look, but now I save that idea for later.

And then came the first joint-try. Ohhh I was so happy that really tiny leg could bend, you can’t believe it xD!!!

Than came the question: headcap or faceplate? I chose the headcap, as you see xD! And testing out some 12mm eyes, who where too big for my taste, so I think she will maybe at any point get 10mm...but I can’t say it for sure, because that doll evolves in every phase of sculpting!
But still got no ears that poor girl...they’re really difficult to sculpt, in my opinion, so I safe that for the very last thing I will sculpt for her ^^°!

Shaping faces isn't at all easy as I thought it would be. Especially when you have  vision in your mind. Constructing the body and thinking around things like: how much movability do I want to have? What poses does she have to rock?, got me to the point of rethinking my first design for the legs. Originally I wanted to have a double jointed leg, but I’m working in an so small scale, I’m going for single joint...because in the end she is my first doll I ever started to sculpt.

Having shaped the head, I started to add little depths to the face.

After reshaping came the cutting of the legs and forming the holes for the joints. Also I began to form the huge, chibilike head.

After checking with my drawing, I put on a little more shape to that lil body.

So, let’s get started. I’m going to show a project here, I started a year ago. With a child, of now 3 years old, and a full time job and that lovely BJD hobby, I didn't got enough time to work on her non-stop. I’m taking it slowly and I love the things I learn from every step I took so far!
So that’s the first thing I did, inspired by all the Artistdolls I saw at Dolls&Party ‘15, I grabbed my pen and draw a really small doll body and began to get that inner ‘’hole’’.
